  1. no need to shout. Silvagnis response was directly to the question of Scully and Ward.. He said they ( GWS) had made approaches to their management. Its not really that ambiguous. They spoke to Velocity. Simple isnt it...and as you can spell...Im sure you can read.
  2. Even as a hypothetical its bordering on moot surely. As Rhino and others correctly suggest.. He didnt want to meet us..end of story. No use suggesting each has a price...as he simply wasnt interested...and his hindsight ( let alone foresight) is on the money , if any are honest.. Ball is not Judd... You could say Judd is not Ball. I would jhave Judd over Ball.. Id probably have Judd over 99% of players..but hey .lol The Ball was never in our court...finito
  3. what if he doesnt
  4. GoaG theres far more than just One person who knows whats going on. That only goes to logic. Its 'What' is known that is the subject of specualtion and debate.
  5. On one hand ... I havent been approached The Age Mar 4 2011. "Gun Melbourne youngster Tom Scully has emphatically denied he has received an approach from Greater Western Sydney to join the AFL expansion club next season." on the other hand Lyon Hunting about 7.35 in "I dont thtink there's any question that we didnt put something to their management group" refering to messrs Scully and Ward. He then suggests of course theres no much they can do til seasons end... WHich of course flies in the face of the Ward ultimatum. again make of any of this what yo will.
  6. The tone and manner of SOS was very matterr of fact, like yeah, as if we hadnt etc. He wasnt coy about having said the approach was made...just any details. to add: What do we know. I.e isnt really debatable..but is reported as having happened. We know there was a window in Oct 2010 in which GWS could not only approach their quarry but sign then up to deals which could remain "quiet" with the AFL's sanction.. thats not made up..thats fact. We know that GWS has done this and until recently just not had an irrefutable source as to whom. . We now know Phil Davis fo rsure. Its alluded ( pretty strongly ) that Callam ward was similarly approached but didnt decide let alone sign back in 2010 but has been openly encoouraged by GWS to come to a decision. This , like the Davis situation flying totally in the face of the 'supposed' rules. We also know because he said so, and has no reason to lie ( abou t this ) that SOS acknowledges GWS appraoched the Scully camp.We also know that GWS is prepared to part with 5 Mill over 5 years for Scully. We know the scope of the deal, but not its actual origin (timewise), only its public announcement make of it what you will
  7. How odd ..you missed the point Joel tried..he never gave up. No many would have caught Garlett...so its irrelevent to his endeavour. Pinging the Carlton player would have been reward for Joels effort.
  8. This does go , I suppose to the core of the matter, the notion or otherwise that the Scully camp had had some approach . My thinkings, and theyre really only that, just thoughts out loud, run to the idea that GWS are/were on the hunt to get whatever and whomever they can. They cast nets wide in the vicinity of the talent and see who bites. They know all wont, tey know some will stall, defer, decide against. They also know some might jump at the chance and others will come to them eventually. The constant through out this campaign is they must approach as many of the better brigade as early and as hard as they can. I cant really see any other way of regarding the methods of GWS. In recruiting terms theyre guerilla tactics. GWS cant afford to sit back and wait, it must get to it with gusto. So who are they going to target ? Logically every young gun from recent drafts who come out of contract at the 'right' time. The No1 draft pick in this mix is none other than our Tom Scully.. So is it really a rational supposition that GWS never approached Tom's people in that window ( of opportunity, oct 2010) ?? Ive always believed and still do that of course GWS made some sort of approach, if notan offer during that 2010 October. As noted SOS admitted this on the TAC show. Maybe not to an offer as he didnt say that I grant, but he did say they were approached, as you would expect. In simple terms we have one lot saying they've had no aaproach. On the other hand you have the approachers saying indeed they did, but then going all coy as to detail. Everything is always in the detail.
  9. Last October..its was GWS's open slather lets make a deal time. Deals could be signed...and sealed...and put away til this Oct. Nothing new about this.
  10. Ive said for a long while now...its seemed to be far too cosey down at Deeland. This might actually have been the case. This can be addressed. You dont need to turn it into Colditz, just get things a bit more real !
  11. +1
  12. Care to Chair that deskussion ?
  13. I came across this.. more power to you Jimma In the darkest hour the soul is replenished and given strength to continue and endure. -- Author Unknown May your God's strength be with you lad !!
  14. Billy surely youd agree many things are discussed amongst players. It wouldnt have been so cut and dried., wel lI doubt it. Whilst particular and confidential detaisl of respective negotiatons wouldnt have been broached teh intents etc of players would in all likely be known amongstr a close knit group. Id suggest what we are seeing is the shop window....all the work had already transpired earlier within their groupings.
  15. Is 1 Million ayear too much ?? Deskuss !
  16. bloody did too... there really needs to be a "tongue in cheek " font or something !! back to the corner
  17. Some choices as to whom people might choose could be good
  18. well..id say the opposite...it is actually showing a lot about the character of Trengove. This is not intended as a slight to Tom but other than his footy regime we know very liittel because he maintains it that way. Thats him..fair enough. With Jack he is very publicly demonstrating his ideas and desires. He strikes me as a very decent all round type of guy. ( so might Tom be..but who knows) the MFC are by recent outings quite happy for Jack to portray the club...i sense thats a portend of thngs to come.
  19. I dont think so Old.. Atbh...any that cant see this is the way to go ( that is..players ) ought to question their loyalty to teh jumper and respect for the position. If they are weak of mind and prone to hissyness then do we really want them anyway ? A good way to find out the fibre of some possibly. I genuinely feel there hasnt been any real effective leadership on the filed this year. I hate having to load on Brad in this regard but how else can you observe it. I dont think Moloney is captains material but he would ably augment a good one. So would Grimes. His apparently fitness iffiness wouldnt be detracting if only a VC type role handed him. I think in very much the same way Carey was spied as a natural born leader at a tender ( by footy standards) and a solid team formed around him then so would it occur with Trengove.. The likes of Tappy, Gawn Watts, Grimes, Jordie, Martin, Liam , Howe etc will be the ones taking us through the next golden era. Its hihgly likely Green , Davey , Rivers etc will have moved on by then..or be nudging it. Again..its just my view
  20. You know I reckon this is EXACTLY the bold move the club needs to do. It needs to break the shackles of mediocrity. It needs to move beyond the current lot of leaders and reestablish the benchmark, not just for playing, but what it takes to inspire others. Others have already noticed, He ( JT ) did something and others felt comfortbale/inpsired/ motivated to follow. Leaders do that to others. They enthuse and infuse. As silly as it sounds..but on the basis of what anyone is actually doing.. Id give the captaincy to Trenners..and a VC role to Watts. they are the future of this club. Some others may get a nose or two out of joint but what is...is.
  21. Im sorry RPFC..I really dont like the notion of shared captaincies. To me it just dilutes the position. There ought to be a singular aura , if you like , about it. The efforts and roles of anything shared, for mine can be affected via the leadership group. Probably now more than for a while we really need someone to take it ( the team ) by the scruff of its neck and take it somewhere. He has already shown he will be taking on this journey and others have not only noted this but followed suit. Hes born to it. just my view
  22. Its been a while since we've seen thehallmarks of real and effecctive leadership form theplaying group. I mean no disprespect to Brad green when I say that the top gig really isnt your forte. Please go back and assume your mantle as a very good forward/follower. For here we have a group of players who have indeed seized the day, seized the opportunity to make a statement. Its loud, its clear, its unabiguous. We're Melbourne, today , tomorrow and tomorrow's tomorrows. . Within this announcemnt comes a further statement by Jack Trengove. 'I believe in this club, I beleive in its successful future and inded my part in it, who wants to join me" In actuality he's really saying.."Who wants to follow me "" Here is a leader. He leads. He has people following him already. Ladies & Gentlemen I present to you the player most worthy of captaining the mighty Demons from 2012 onwards, Jack Trengove. Well done son Its not without note that he wears the number 9
  23. In what way ? To give anyone a 'pass' despite form is seriously unaccountable. The idea that he ought never be in a position to require dropping is teh romantic one but it doesnt addres reality. Would it be humiliating for Brad ? It might be. Depends on what sort of stuff he's made. Heres something to consider. He could take the "lead" and drop himself . He could then display his tenacity to lift his game , just as anbyone else would be required. Hes not above anything. He has placed himself into this conundrum, no one else. I would think it would be a great act of respect to his fellow Demons to do such. I would see this as a positive step, an act of taking ownership of his current malaise and doing something about it. Hes got no form...and needs deseperately to find some. Has to find his Mojo...and quick
  24. Whomever the coach turns out to be I can only hope a somewhat more no nonsense , less holistic approach is taken. I cant help but feel some players have had too long a leash and far to much largesse . It became all too cosy and predicatable. Im happy for anyone who can knock a real sense of purpose with urgency into this team It doesnt have to be frire and brimstone....just very fair dinkum
  25. I believe someone is rattling cages
