Practice doesn't help ? Ya having a lend of me surely. Anything is worth practising if you want to make it second nature . Bradman...Woods... Charlton....Beckam....and the list goes on !!!

As has been alluded to. Best AID is a ggod coach ...to work on the space between ears.....and practice practice practice . Simple as.

funny in a way..... way back when a kid and we had VFL players come round to give clinics I was giving some coaching by a real hack of a hawk...some wally from Tassie.....didnt have a clue this bloke His very sage advice was never really to consider the sticks.. You picked out someone...or something...and aim at it. The mind plays trciks...give it ANY largesse of ...'between this post and that one" and it will use up ALL the target..and more.. Give it a specific..and the foot often guides to it.,..amazing really. Wonder what ever happend to that bloke ...lol

How do you solve a problem like Moloney?
beelzebub replied to Jesse Christ's topic in Melbourne Demons
im inclined to agree..A bit of a shame in many ways as Watts showed the benefit of being able to penetrate into the forward arc with well weighted and directed kicks. Now Beamer could also do this ...but perhaps hasnt the naunces of accuracy.. If hes not careful Brent will become a self made dinosaur. -

I wont go as far as some and suggest I have a man-crush ...but this Bloke is really pretty bloody good. I have every expectation he will move heaven and earth to be ready for Round 1. Footy is like catnip to him... He'll be there

How do you solve a problem like Moloney?
beelzebub replied to Jesse Christ's topic in Melbourne Demons
there was one passage on Sunday that for mine summed up the predicament and epitomised where Beamer is currently. Honestly cant remember whether 2nd or wth (but heading to punt rd) . Ball is kicked from half bac ( roughly ) in play and bally heads towards space on outer side of square. . Too far for Beamer initially. Not far enough for another Demon.. and theres a Giant (sts) in theway..Now theGiant rushes at the ball..and Baeamer seems to...but just DOESNT have the leg speed sohe seems towant to wait and bundle the giant. Now th eBeamer of old would have just charged full pelt at the ball and if possible taken out the giant. He didnt..he seems to hesitate , just for an instant, but that was enough to make anything he did hard(er ) work.n Now I knw it was just one passage of play... but its that image of Beamer I took from the game. He really has to make up his mind -

No one gets a contract unless they deserve it based upon current ability , merit and application. NO ONE This has been our problem in past years we get all soft and gushy. Its not up to us...Its up to Brent to show cause to the club why he should be re-signed -
Bugger Bugger BUGGER This year is a test of everything and we WILL be better for it. But its just stuffed luck for Mitch...and us. Mitch I sure is stoic about this whilst inwardly very disappointed. Suck it in Dees... when the going gets tough ..... You can choose a victimmentality....or get over it and see it as a chance to blood others and we grow and get better. Recover well and speedily Mitch.....thanks very much for everything so far. Youre a gem.

I actually quite like Watts of half back . He adds a bit of zing and poise. He can ... And this is the bonus... by following the ball up the ground. His kickong onto the forward 50 to awaiting Clark/Howe etc should prove very watchable Attempts by oppositions to drag him up the ground will only bring them unstuck further you would have to think. The backline is still very much in flux.

I liked the cheekiness of it

I was mainly alluding to sloppy efforts that look real "cool" if they go through and lamentable when they dont. The idea is to score... Not to "me too "

I do not mean to take anything away from the great win yesterday but in all honesty we could hve been another 4 or five goals up without any real change to the way things panned out. I of course refer to the time honoured art of kicking for goal.. Set shots in the main weretn too bad though there were a couple that really SHOULD have been slotted.. Im more concerned at times about the impromptu opportunities and our rather dismall skills here. Can the respective coaches please, PLEASE show the boys how to kick NORMALLY for goal. Yes there are times for the outside check, the inside wobble, the dribble, the banana, the pretzel , the scissor kick, the worm burners and a myriad of other fascinatingly improbable disposals of the ball. Strangely though in about 90% of times a steadied two stepped low hard drop punt weighted to knock the goal umpires head off is ususally the best option. Yet, strangely and mystifyingly the one not chosen. Results can vary from the kick being intercepted to waddling accross goal and hitting the point post to being a brilliantly executed pass to some unknown cousin ( one presumes) sitting behind the points. Good for him....bad for us !! I know footy players love a sense of occasion, some even dabble in the world of style, but Im a bit old fashioned. Im results driven, so can some kind folk down at the MFC please DRIVE this concept home...i.e Lets gets the points first and worry about how you dress it some other time.
