Neeld , as a balanced thinker, would not have seriously gone into the game expecting to win. So what do you take away from it? Experience is the answer...and knowledge.. Watts has steadily improved the more and more he plays on quality oppoistion. Id almost bet Watts even asked to be put on him. Jackie boy is quite proactive now in his education of thing footy. He sought out Micky Mouse for advice after a lambasting. lets be fair... Watts didnt get a lot of help yesterday, there simply werent the cattle on the paddock. And yet we still only got done by 60.

A love a littel humour on monday morning. Magner is a first year player. He , unlike others has managed to keep his job. Hes been asked to not only play a hard game ( but he likes it that way it seems anyway ) he has taken it upon himslef it seems to attempt tostep upa littel even before hes had a chance to consolidate his abilities at this level. He earns his possessions, he doesnt shirk contests. Hes far from slow, open your eyes ; hes taken down a few unsuspecting opposition during the year. What he is...is all but alone out there at times and doesnt have a lot of his compatriots presenting in positions that make the meerist of sense. This guy is a genuine uncut gem. Another preseason and more games under his belt and he will be amongst the first picked week in week out. This guy actually WANTS to play.

Its hardly barren. But its certainly not over-run with growth. If this were farming youd only be turning over one of your fileds whilst tending the rest. A bit of fertiliser and care will see the rest yield a decent crop. A couple might need to be put out to pasture though

Improvement... unless its a year of silverware or near to, just what is improvement and how are we ,mere mortals , to judge. With so much being rebuilt withiin it can be like pruning roses... you really pare things back and there isnt much to see...until the regrowth comes through. Im far from delusional. Im patient. Were talking about turning the titanic all but, not flicking the steering of a jetboat. Neels has to work with what hes got initially then remould and recast the list in an image of his liking. That may well take another 2-3 years to fulfill. Those that really still speak of an improvement , of their liking , this year also must subscribe to the club of thinking that many on our list are far better than we know them to be. Much supposition of this "improvement" is based upon the assumption that these plaers were ever going to step up this year and that any half way decent coach could have built upon this. Heres the flaw in this logic. With a now recognised suspect list ( in places ) the foundation for improvement simply didnt/doesnt exist , as we thought it. So look for improvement from the real base...and not the supposed one.

I fully expect Neeld to go shopping amongst the 'other ' leagues.. A cull is on for sure. Therell be some attrition.....and some serious delisitngs. Im very disappointed in Petterd and just have a gut feeling theres more to this and he might still see daylight next year. Its an odd year for him. Youd expect Green to retire, but he might not.. Most likely 2 -3 new rookies..and 6 trade/drafts.

I really wasnt going to bother...but hey.. worst year youve ever seen. Dont watch much footy I take it. You also have no real comprehension of the fabric of a successful club either it seems. It takes time for the redressing of a decade of inadequate action to see fruition. but you want overnight. Enjoy your delusion

61 pt loss with a thrown together second string rabble come regulars. In reality it really isnt that bad. Im wondering why the Lions didnt smash us by more than a 100... But they didnt. Everyone is so quick to get the knives out for Neeld but I think he was quite smart today in a fashion. I know not everyone will see it that way. Im not about to slash a wrist . Yes some players' shortcomings were shown...and good. A few did have a crack, a couple of others went and earnt their possessions. Some stood flat footed. This is all the stuff Neeld wants to see.. Who does what , where and when. Games like this is nothing about this season its all just prep and homework for the next.. Look beyond the fence people.
