Mate...im champing at the bit for a cup...been a long wait. But Id only be disappointed and despondent currently if I thought it was ever all going to happen overnight. Given the realities that were exposed concerning the club it may well take 2-3 years to show a real side capable of a crack. If nothing by then.. its a different kettle of fish. I cant come at the notion we were any good last year...by what indices ? games won. On the surface youd think that would fly. But we were playiing to the limits of our supposed ability..There was no scope for improvement in reality...what you saw was it. To create a rose bush you need to prune , prune, prune and then care for it and voila !! We where we are on the ladder because thats where we are in terms of our new journey.. Were starting out. Excuses.? No...im suggesting there are REASONS for where and who we are.

Mate...Im not too sure you quite get cause and consequence.. You might suggest that its Neeld causing our mallaise and the consequence is we are crap. Its not this way in reality. There have , by all accounts, wholesale changes in the methodology and execution of what we collectively call the "game plan". In order for the execution to work you need willing and able combatants. Here we fall down.. Some are somewhat willing...others cant be accused of giving much of a toss. Able ? For mine able infers obviously...ability. Now here we also have had some rude shocks as we now realise many just dont have basic skills let alone 'elite'. So the real cause of our predicament is not a result of Coaching as it seems in many areas there are distinct improvements. Neeld and sundry seem to have done quite a job really managing to field a team when so many of our first choie best 22 arent available. It just seems a lot of our players seem incapable ( for either the two pre-described reasons..willingness/ability ) of carrying out the new way that our new coach wants the MFC to play football. The buck doesnt stop at all with Neeld....it stops fairly with players. Those that cant will be replaced with some that can.

Weve a way to go stil with fitness, strength and endurance. Im not really that concerned about these as these ought to improve over time and application.. Im still really disappointed in our basic skills. Worried even.

unless of course youve been following this team for a long whiles , in that case any real expectation has been well and truly thumped out of you and you go to games with nought but a feint whisper of a hope of something this side of a debacle.I dont expect much from Melbourne and am rarely disappointed as a result.

its got me stuffed why any one puts any other description on this season than: exam time for players/ info Re-Boot come seasons end/trade-draft period. My theory on why a couple of backs are playing forward is they were supposed to bring theri defensive pressure with them and so enable the ball to be kept in the forward 50 if and when it got there. Conversely a few forward types go back to learn wtf defensive pressure is all about. Lessons learnt from this.. More than a few of our blokes havent a clue... Im gobsmacked...thats NEWS ??? But we know for sure now. And a couple more get there cards stamped as dcm in 2013. This is EXPOSURE footy. This has the players out from whatever they were hiding behind in terms of skills ( sic ) and ability and putting them on the spot. . Its warts and all footy for the benefit of post season selection. Amaziingly more than a handful are too plain dumb to realise it and that in itself will help us as we can get rid of the numnuts and get smarter more responsible types who get what turning up to play ( let alone earning a buck) really means. go Dees ...now and 2013 !!

well as season 2012 will wind its way to its end there will be a number at Melbourne for whom the Carnival will be Over !!

When Neeld came to the board at first he suggested to them that their view of the list was not his , that he wasnt even sure those that he rated were even in the right positions but only some fiddling around and re-rating will show one thing or the other. By now Neeld will be somewhat dismayed that some arent even showing what he thought might have been there. The FD will be doing their homework . They know who can , who cant, who will, who won't. Theyre still offering some their last chance or last yard of rope. Its up to them, Neeld and co cant play the game for them. You can drag all the horses you like to water but if they dont want to , they dont want to. In all honesty it must be driving them around the bend as much or more than us.Theres no wand, no magic potion. Theres only trail and error, homework and a fresh approach to the list. More holes than a block of Swiss cheese. wont always be the case

I reckon its a fair enough question , in the manner its proposed.So much purported on these boards supposes that a poster is either in this corner or that corner , either black or white.....or rather red or blue. It negates the idea that you , I or anyone can wander the halls that connect one part of an opinion with another. That a posters thinking can either straddle or be composite , mutlifaceted etc.. So in the context of Neeld/no-Neeld then surely there are those that are neither but are prepared to give someone, anyone , various benefits of doubts or the chance to actulally effect change. This wont happen overnight but many need it to otherwise a bloke's a failure. Now is it ok for watchers, observers to feel this is fair enough without actually being a die hard Neeldy..or conversely not ?

And the MFCSS affecianados line up to push the self destruct button and go sit in the 'wallow' corner. Yes we lost.. yes it was a hiding dressed up as a contest. We probably didnt have half a team of note, they probably lacked a 1/4. In reality the care factor for this and any game for rest of year.... about 2/3 of 4/5 of SFA !! Until we actually have a team where the greater majority of players actually give a toss and have at least 2 of the 3 basest of football skills anything we see served up will in all likely be tripe. People are lining up to give Neeld a serve. whterh he does turn out to tbe our savious or a nother lemon on the list at the moment he has to play those he thinks have relevance to our future and see what they do as well as take note of those that might think they are dead certs for 2013 come hell or high water...well some have a surprise ahead. Like cars of old they all needed running in....working out the bugs and fixing them. we cant fix ours til seasons end. Im now focused on that. That will tell us far more about our futre than anything we saw today.
