Footy is at risk of losing a traditional market in Tasmania, it is on the decline as as a grass roots code.
is it really tho? the amount of players coming into the afl system out of the tasmanian ecosystem seems to have grown in the last decade, not fallen
in truth, the amount of players coming through a bigger state like south australia is far more concerning and has been flagged at head office as a watch item

I noticed the experts at Fox predicted the pies to finish the H&A season 20-3. That hasn’t aged well.
unless they win the next 20 games...

i still maintain there is zero $$ value in a tasmanian team coming in as the 19th team - adds nothing to the media rights coffers, which is what funds the game at the end of the day
it's definitely got a feed good factor, but tasmania's population hovers around that 500,000 mark - it's dwarfed by the gw$ or gc17 catchment areas for population growth, let alone the value of having two extra teams up north in terms of media rights value
i loathe those franchises, but it was the 'correct' move to bring them in; tasmania is just pandering to already converted footy fans
i'm more curious about when they'll bring the 20th team in - i am assuming it'll be a third team based in perth

Do you think we might tag butters?
40+ possessions and goals against us last time?
nope
he did all that in the wet and we still barely lost

It will be interesting to see on what grounds.
not enough force - downgrade it to a fine (as per sicily)

AFL fantasy is purely based off stats. i.e 3 points for a kick, 3 for a mark, 2 for a handball etc.
Supercoach is the one that adds additional scoring for effective disposal, score assists etc.
Petracca has a SC score of 146 compared to Sicily 123, which shows he was more effective in the game.
supercoach points = champion data rankings

if lever is fine, bizarrely i think it's more like that tomlinson comes in and they don't shuffle everything around with petty going back

I’ve now heard from three separate people that AMW is this far *holds thumb and forefinger half a millimeter apart* from getting a call -up. He’s working so hard and has been for ages. Really happy for him.
replacing who tho?
to allow salem to move back into the midfield?

one thing that i'd like to see change is pup brown moved out of 'starvation corner' of half-forward
he's not going to learn anything in the vfl trying to play the role anb plays at senior level
from memory, nibbler played predominantly midfield at vfl level before he found his niche as that gut-running half-forward
i get that brown is very slight but it'll benefit him being more involved in the play
he played mid at underage level, and i'm confident he's smart enough in the contests to be more involved than he will be in the forward set-up at casey

Carlton would argue Weitering, Marchbank and Docherty is a massive hit to their defensive set up
It’s a blow yes, but I’m very much about don’t worry about who you haven’t got worry about who you have got.
Just get through it as best we can and get May back when he’s ready
it was a genuine question; i could only think of weitering and murphy at the filth as prime tall defenders currently injured; didn't even know marchbank was crocked and docherty was a shame to see injured last round

nepo baby mcguire report on lever at least makes it's clear it's not as bad as it could be for lever...

Given my (irrational) fear of flying, I would have s**t myself to death on the way down, so might be first on the barbie. But thanks anyway, Skuit.
you enjoying all the boeing shenanigans too? i agree it's completely irrational but... planes 😶

looks like libs might only get 14-15 seats of the 35, which places them in a very awkward position
final make-up of their parliament won't be known for some time

game will be won / lost in the midfield
gawn, oliver, viney, petracca, sparrow, langdon, windsor, billings vs soldo, butters, rozee, drew, farrell, wines, houston, boak
they bat deeper than us, i would say, but we have higher quality
i love watching butters - one of the best players running around at the moment

Every club has injury problems, we need to trust in the depth of our squad and our system.
is there another club that has their best two tall defenders injured?

Anyone know the status of Marshall's injury?
Not wishing injuries on opposition players but Marshall out would be handy considering our 2 outs this week.
just being assessed they said

This goal is coming as a result of Tholstrup double grabbing at a ball again..that’s what my earlier post was referring to. As a high draft pick, I think I had high expectations for this kid. So far, he looks off the pace..not sure what those who think he should be in the seniors are seeing.
for mine, it's the little things, and the positioning in the contest
he'll ultimately be better amongst better company and playing a lesser role

well Casey does seem to be following the melbourne play book pretty well, very few if any are manning up.
the notion of 'manning up' hasn't been the best form of defensive set-up since before the 1990s

Most folks on here were baffled when Tommo was dropped but now we lose 2 keys backs people aren’t thinking he comes in?
He should definitely come in imo
i don't think he's in our best 22, even with may and lever out
I quite like this proposition:
OUT: may, lever
IN: Fullarton, Woewodinpetty and salem stay down back, hore comes in to starting 22, fullarton becomes forward / ruck relief, and woey 2.0 is the sub
tholstrup to debut in place of windsor on the 5 day break for gil's round vs the crom

hmm, i wouldn't call them elite - i'd call them neat
they all don't bite off more than they can chew and make 'sensible' decisions rather than 'risky' ones
perhaps with greater experience will come greater desire to take the game on, in the mould of blakey from the swans, williams or saad from carlton, and naicos or crisp from the filth
