Nahas is hopelessly soft, wouldn't go near him.

100% true that gws selected players based on being teammates at junior level and friends.
Source: recruiter at another club.

the only swans player who knew before they were knocked out of the finals was mcveigh.
after that it went to the whole leadership group.
they were the only players who knew before the deal was broken by cordy.
someone must've talked...

The very notion of it seems absurd. And yet, and yet...

i would srsly wet myself if we got kennedy for pick 9.

matt jones and mckenzie will help add to the depth of the midfield in 2014.
grimes needs a set position. his reading of the play is exemplary. if he's not forced to try to do two roles - both roaming half-back and grunt mid - then he'll be the player we want him to be.

I agree that gws must recruit Scharenberg, otherwise there was no point to getting pick 2...
Unless of course they on-trade it, which has been mooted.
They have plenty of a similar ilk to Aish, Kelly, Billings etc.
Boyd and Scharenberg is the only deal that makes sense.

i'm not as sold on jamar being 'finished' as others. i'm hopeful that he can still contribute when required. he's a lumbering dinosaur, but they have their time.
some would say i'm being harsh on some of those i see as not being up to it, but on the evidence thus far for me they're just not good enough to be afl level players.
edit: just looking at my proposed side, we are crying out for a class distributor from half-back. hopefully toumpas can become that player.

We lost a player, have picked up two ready to roll mids, a hugely promising and highly rated inside mid, and still hold a pick in the top 10.
Meanwhile, Barrett thinks a 30 year old outside runner is going to catapult his side from outside the top 8 into the top 4.
Nuff said!

Why not select him as a delisted free agent, rather than use a psd pick?

Vince is one of those weird anomalies - a natural right footer who is arguably better off the left.
I really hope the Cross rumour is true.
Perfect bloke to help teach Tyson, Michie, Toumpas, et al just what's required in terms of professionalism to being the best midfielder you can be.

people who post spelling / grammatical corrections are anal morons, mmmkay?

we went for him last year, offering big bikkies.
he signed on with the crows, and then couldn't get a regular game.
pick 54 or bust.
-
exactly, it's all about needs.
we desperately need an extractor. those at the pointy end of the 2013 draft aren't that.
dom tyson is.

he hasn't moved to melbourne yet.
give it time.
i like that we are going about our business quietly. what other coach's are wandering down media street at the moment? it's all about recruiting managers and footy dept heads at the moment; josh mahoney is going great guns.

Adams in the psd, please.

Look, if he plays like he did at junior days in the afl he is EXACTLY what we need - strong in close with good disposal.
Aish and Kelly - the players we were likely to target with #2 - are more outside runners.
If we are able to secure, with 9, Billings we get that outside ability with ability to develop an inside game, if it's Crouch we get another ball-hunter.
Billings' last two years playing in the state champs have been so exciting. I can't see him sliding to 9, but you never know...
He reminds me of Robbie Gray from Port; a natural footballer who can read the play intuitively, play forward and also push through the midfield and win clearances.
-
Adams in the psd with pick #2 please!
Imagine if that happened... Oh the hilarity.

Billings, I hope!
Saving that, Crouch...so that we can lure his bro back from the Crows in two years
Think of it as the reverse Scotty T

jetta is currently uncontracted, so that would make sense.

emma q has some interesting thoughts on the adams-shaw deal.
personally i disagree that it's a fair direct swap. adams has far greater upside than shaw.
but the real point of interest is this:
- boyd certainty to go no. 1
- kelly and billings a shot for 2
- kolodjashnij firming for top 5
and as we know mcdonald is already confirmed for #8.
she's got aish, scharenberg and freeman possibly sliding to #6 if the mooted 6 for 11 and 27 deal happens, with west coast keen on sheed at #6 but they think he'll slide to #11 if that deal happens.
-
The best thing about it all is that we haven't compromised our long term future success by going for short term solutions, and aging stars.
As opposed to Barrett's North, who presumably see dal Santo as the difference btw being outside the top 8 and inside the top 4.
-
Is Barrett eulogising north and their trading as well?
Gee, what a surprise.

Pretty sure Pete Ryan is a filth man unfortunately.
Good dude tho. One of few in the media who actually know anything about us at all.
