    Chopper Carrol

agreed. also the absence of Rivers has a huge impact. Rivers reads the play well and manages to float across the HB line and help out. Without him Chopper is forced to try limit a firing forward who is getting ample supply from a dominant midfield. The midfield is where we lost the match... and a lack of accountable defenders did not help brown and ward were shocking... I thought Chopper was well beaten but he never really had a chance.
  2. Apology accepted.... Thanks for the great call Patrick!
  3. I like it, but... Rough on Yze given current form. I mean Brown dog makes your 22 but yze doesnt? I think we differ in opinions on both these players then. and moloney making the top 10 based on "importance to the team" i disagree, maybe based on his potential but he has only played a handful of games in 2006/7 and has struggled to get his body right. I would substitute Davey or Robbo or Jmac (or on his past couple of games the Bater. Like it or not Yze, Davey and Robbo are match winners. Each of them has the ability to turn a game on its head and break it open with that something special, the skilled x factor. That said I respect blokes like Godders more... those who try their guts out week in week out. Davey did last week and was spent at the end of the match and if he could practice his tackling I would put him in the top 10.
  4. My guess is that they will be given till sunday to prove their fitness. Fergs to do rivers role... needed on the wide expanse of Subi (maybe Ricky-Bobby coud do that role but probably giving him a chance to prove his fitness also). If they play we will see no ward, holland and maybe wanock.
  5. Byron to pull his finger out and get on with it... http://melbournefc.com.au/Season2007/News/...px?newsId=43337
  6. Quite bad when you consider that a named player (rivers) wasn't playing. Perhaps he was given the call up?
  7. trying something new YM? damn i already miss your unbridled and unfounded enthusiasm.
  8. actually this year in a freak occurance we have a chance to beat them twice in one season!
  9. he is lizzie's nephew so cousin is correct.
  10. Slow down and look around mate... He already has been cleared.
  11. If I were ND I would not tell you anything either. Now he has walked a very fine line in that interview and managed to handle himself very well. I know you are not a ND fan, you have been calling for his head since Rd 1. So please try and think of this in a general sense. What did you expect any coach to say about our kicking? You claim you are not asking for a memo but i think that is exactly what you want. The public arena is not where our FD should be discussing our training. Now as to your very first point, IMO our team will have 7-8 wins this season or more. I believe that at the end of Rd 22 most ppl will be surprised to see the dees just outside the 8 and will be bemoaning our woeful start to the season.... Whether ND is offered his position again will depend on the nature of the wins we do have, our competetiveness in our losses and the development of our younger players. I hear you calling for playing the kids... please tell me who you think should be added to last weks team and at who's expense. I would prefer to see our team hard at the ball and competetive and as we regain players from injury we are getting closer and closer. We are actually ranked 2nd in tackles. Ok now before you reply with the same pessimistic attitude. Close your eyes and say something positive about the team. Now go for it. PS I hope you actually went this weekend. The boys showed some heart and we saw 2 young players shine in Jones and Petterd.
  12. Frawley has been injured, played his first game for the seaseon in the sandy magoos and got sent to hospital with concussion and a broken nose (i think) Hughes and neaves are rookies. Correct me if i am wrong but left to play on senior list are Bartram (injury) Weetra (injury) Frawley (1st week back) Neville Newton Buckley I would say pretty soon everyone but Neville and Weetra will have played.
  13. You believe that noone in our team has done their best in the fairest manner possible to win matches for us?
  14. WC would say no to that in a second
  15. Ok I wouldn't have gone that far. Firstly I am not claiming bruce to be a star. However he has easily been our best player all year. What really gives me the shits though is the band of negative posters here who look for an individual to crucify after each loss. Bruce is an outside running player, i do not expect him to be at the bottom of every pack, yet he does not shirk his turn as ppl claim he does. He is a utility that ND uses all over the ground. (I happen to think one of the best games he played last year was down back on Brad Johnson against the Doggies) He plays his roles well and with support and options from other players looks better than when he is kicking into a crowded forward line. To even compare Godfrey to Bruce is like to compare 2 things that are nothing alike!!!! Godfrey works his guts out, I wish every player in the team worked as hard as he does and had the same attitude, sadly Godfrey lacks the finish, the polish.... the stuff that looks the goods and wins matches. Bruce will make you eat your words, just as Yze has ppl...
  16. I thought the same thing hahahaha... Since when does wallsy's opinion matter?
  17. YM you are as wrong as your predictions... Bruce has been easily our best player for the year and Godfrey is a good tagger at best. Bruce played out a match with a calf strain and perhaps judging his kicking under those circumstances is not ideal. Everytime I see Godfrey get a possession my heart is in my mouth, he tries his guts out but his disposals are errant. His greatest quallity is the fact that he doesn't think just bombs into the forward line giving our forwards a 50/50 at best. Bruce always looks for the advantage and if possible delivers the ball in front of the leading player. Do not judge his kicking on the Port game. And maybe all you fools who want him sent to the seconds also want Neitz there for the free kick he gave away....
  18. In that interview Danners did the right thing by the club. He was open and frank and made no promises. As for tanking.... not for me I would prefer only playing kids when they are ready for afl level and always playing a side that is competetive. I do not want to breed a losing mentality into the club, we need to be winning as many games as possible and people NEED to be showing up to watch their team play. Finishing low is no guarantee of drafting well. And at the risk of offending many people Judd will not be the answer (no matter how much I want to see him in the red and blue). I hope I am wrong but if he is leaving WC he will be traded rather than enter the PSD and it will end up being a club like the wobbles that will offer enough to snare him. He will be a million dollar player under a bidding war and can we afford to fit him in our cap and at what cost. A little off topic but I believe tanking for the bottom positions does not equal success and will damage the players attitudes and also our crowds and therefore the club itself.
