Field umpires frequently exercise discretion - how often does a player break away from a pack at the same time as the whistle, believing he or his team will be paid the free, or advantage. Sometimes the same player is unaware of the infringement - believed he marked it cleanly, but an opposition player was infringed against by a team mate; the player streaming goalward was not the offender. Most instances the ball is recalled and the unfortunate one gets benefit of doubt without further penalty

Anyone recall the sensational seventies VFA Grand Final where Field umpire awarded full forward free for usual push and shove BEFORE first bounce. Final result - difference 5 points or so. Not sure if it was before first siren or not. Can anyone refresh my memory?

I think they signal they’ve heard the siren - not game over

Take Mundy’s games out of Freo total and the remaining 21 have an average of 50 Eight players less than 30 games

AFL changed the result of Freo v StKilda game few years ago in contradiction of their own published rules

Cotchin got off for kicking few weeks ago

Look at the discipline of our interchange boys when T Mac took his after siren kick in the GF - did not celebrate on ground unti “all clear” was given. Under the old rule, 10 years ago, Footscray could have been awarded the Premiership for a violation there

My grandfather originally from Queenstown - toughest ground in Australia (look it up). Tassie is pretty but slow state. Covid gave it a kick along as a respite island within an island. I used to be involved aero medical evacuation. Cases that would be high end, but routine elsewhere, needed to be urgently flown to Melbourne. Virtually impossible to see a GP in North West of State. Lowest level of Australian school retention in the country in same region. Anyone with half a brain aspires to mainland big smoke. Growth comes from retirees downsizing from Syd/Mel and chucking $1/2 m in to their super. I believe there is still a serious North/South divide.

I spent several months of Victorian lockdown in Darwin after Howard Springs quarantine. The heat at times is hard to survive. In Darwin’s Main Street at some crossings there are “shade shelters” to afford pedestrians some sun protection while waiting for green light. I like warm weather and live Vietnam. Darwin heat is next level.

Looked like old Fitzroy strip. Lucky weren’t playing Footscray. Don’t like designs with lots of white dots.

Radio; Melbourne hasn’t won on Election Day since 1954. Host; Melbourne just break records. Jack Dyer played under eight Prime Ministers. Burgoyne six, and only two coaches.

AFL has since admitted they got the Adelaide final wrong

Seems to have a hand in every goal

Saw Gaza’s On The Couch Perth game not mentioned, but every other review features a “like Melbourne” or “except Melbourne” or “Melbourne lesson”

Football world order has changed. 1. Covid 2. Some teams can kick 3 goals in 31 seconds - to turn a Grannie. 3. We play Eagles in Perth and betting must be close to being suspended.
