We played Essendon "reserves" at start of season

In: VC Commodore, EB Falcon, HJ Holden,
Out: VB Commodore, EA Falcon, HZ Holden,
But in my dreams In: Any Porsche or BMW or Audi or Benz
Actually the HZ was two models after the Hj - with the HX in between.

PIES STAND TALL -
Week after conceding nine goal final quarter to the Tiges and bizarre comments from their skipper - the Pies put the Premier team of the last decade to the sword.
That's how a team fights back.
Nothing game with Geelong's September on the line.
Come on Melbourne.
-
In Vietnam but I'll be in town early September.
Do I go?
Only seen two shellackings this year so far.
Think I might add my non - attendance to the negativity/protest (non ) crowd.

You have an accomplice DR
Obviously it has been me since 1960 that has been me dragging down the Club.
If only I had known in 1965 I was the reason.
Could have switched to Hawthorn.
Probably saved the MFC and had a much more enjoyable footy life for the last half a century.
Perhaps we should all leave now and the club will have clear air in 2016 as their would be no one in the stands to worry the poor darlings.
I switched FROM Hawthorn in 1965 - bad call.

Shows how horribly exposed we become when Jones, Vince, Viney and Cross all have 16 or less disposals. Just weren't working hard enough to get their hands on the ball yesterday and when they fall down, the midfield has no hope.
Special mention to some horrendous turnovers and butter fingers from Cross. He's starting to slow down unfortunately.
Yeah our midfield - maybe we get outplayed by Hawthorn or other Top 4 side.
But Carlton?
No Judd and Gibbs subbed out injured
-
The stats indicate our Midfield got slaughtered.
Then why blame it on Dunn Grimes And TMac. Bit hard to put the torch on them when it was coming lace out into their area.
We always seem to struggle when sides move the ball quickly which exposes our inability to run both ways.
If Tommy Mac, Jack Grimes and Lyndon Dunn are our worst, then I woul think we need to start looking at a few other areas.
Our forwards would have killled for the delivery that Carlton supplied in the first half.
Angus is tired, it has been a long season , but has heart. Roosy said last week he is playing in an unnatural position for him. Get another pre season under his belt and we will see a genuine Potential A Grader.
Salem, ANB & Billy the kid , and JKN are all kids with potential . Be poistive ( I know it is hard after aday like today or a month like this.)

Wow
We outscored Carlton so far this quarter.
Guess supporting this mob worse than bad marriage.
Don't think I'll renew membership - this hurts from Vung Tau
-
Hulk won't wanna stay if we throw $15 m at him
-
Least we got Brendan McCartney help with game day

Chunky is great but hardly in Sam Mitchell class - kneeing aside.
Guess its the old story - in 60s and 70s I'd see fringe players cleared to other clubs look a lot better with class players all around; Michael Byrne.
Watts sweeping for Geelong at their prime doesn't bear thinking about.
Nice assessment overall.
-
Yep - don't think we ever got them in official 4 point game there.
Actually saw the very last official AFL game there - night pre-season semi about 97 - 98.
Drug cheats did us.
-
Like Einstein said when told Hitler had 100 German scientists sign a letter saying Einstein was wrong : "it only takes one scientist to show me where I'm wrong."
I'll try n check the stats but don't think we ever got the Tiges at Waverley. Maybe something with the G being vacant or co- tenants.
Not sure.
-
was pretty sure Ricmond - by a quirk of the fixture - was the one team we never played at Waverly.I was out at Waverley one Saturday. PR was playing for the reserves against Richmond. No [censored] - he was drop kicking into the centre circle every time. Absolutely magnificent to watch! Even the ninthmond supporters were cheering. [censored] me he could kick a football!!
-
Remember the MCC members always yelling at Ridley to give him a go in the firsts.
-
Robbie debuted in Swann's 8 goal Geelong game. Recall headline on sports pages how two "graceful names" like Swan and Flower tore the Cats a good one.
-
Diamond Jim's first kick was not a goal. Massive torp at Arctic Park in the wet. Against Bloods. Went 60 metres.
-
Met Glen Swann at through work many years later. Gob smacked when I reminded him about 8 Goals against Geelong. It was in the wet too. He was working as are Recreation Officer or similar for City of Camberwell. That was mid 80s.
-
Maybe it's a phase thing.
Look at the number of sub 60 point scores each week. Many feature us.
One day cricket had a few phases
250 in the 70s was good
190 in the 80s and 90s was defendable.
Then those two Sri Lankan openers blew it apart helping themselves to century partnerships off 10 overs.
Give me 70s footy - kicking to packs, Phil Baker and Peter Knights flying one on one.
Losing 23 goal Grand finals, forwards kicking bags and the ton every season.

Maybe everyone in the crowd sick of Loonie left, ABC, Fairfax Media, Wahid Ali and the Fairies at the bottom of the garden wanting to control our thoughts.

Criticise Julia and PC Brigade label you misoginist.
Too bad if you rate Julie Bishop and Anna Bligh

Don't recall Winmar being booed for years after his Collingwood showdown.

-
Would t mind Swan Josh Kennedy.
Perfect pedigree - Grandpa launched Hawthorn - and Football smarts from Premiership midfield.
Captain.
