  1. I AGREE WITH SYLVINATOR KNOWING A LOT ABOUT HENDERSON HE LIVES IN THE SAME TOWN AS ME BIRREGURRA (famous for a former great melb player Alan Rowath) I HAVE SEEN HIM PLAY KNOW HIS FAMILY HE HAS A GREAT ATTITUDE HE IS VERY IMPOSING ON THE FIELDDEDICATED SUPRISINGLY QUICK AND LIKE HIS MOTHER VERY STRONG HE HAS THE SAME BUILD AS HAWKINS HIS KICKING NEEDS A BIT BUT CAN TAKE A PACK MARK WOULD BE AN IDEAL REPLACEMENT FOR NETA YOU WOULD BE VERY IMPRESSED ONLY ONE PROBLEM HE BARRACKS FOR COLLINGWOOD HIS PARENTS HOPE THAT MELB PICKS HIM UP

That is hilarious. I know the family too and I love how you say he is very strong like his mother =) Clubs contacted the family when he was 14 so he has been on the radar for some time. We are definately interested but I suspect everyone is.

  2. Actually if we win our pick would be #4 compared to #2 if we lose.

    So basically it is:

Carlton win --> they get picks 3 and 21, we get pick 2, 18, 20

We win --> they get picks 1, 3, and about 20, we get pick 4, 21

It is definitely a ridiculous system. They should scrap the before round 1 priority pick and only have priority picks after the first round. Surely a pick in the top 5 and two other picks in the top 20 is enough for a poor season.

And lets not forget that it is Carlton's salary cap cheating that has them with such a crap list.

  3. I don't understand why everyone (outside melbourne fans) thinks Connolly should coach us?

Just because he played for us doesn't mean we will want him. ND has a far better record and we ditched him.

I would like someone new who has had assistant coaching experience eg. Ratten, Bond, Harvey, McKenna, Rehn etc, but definately NOT Voss. I don't know what the fuss is about him. Champion footballer and very keen to get into coaching but whenever I hear him commentate he never seems to say anything particularly insightful and IMO comes off a bit immature. Give him a few years as an assistant and I think he would be an excellent candidate but he is kidding himself if he thinks he is ready to coach next year.

If we hire Laidley or Connolly i will not be happy. One that hasn't been talked about lots is Shaun Rehn. Not sure if he is interested or not, but he has some very good experience.

  4. I knew this would happen. He most definately deserved a suspension. It was completely undisciplined. BUT going on the incredibly soft precedence the MRP have set this season I can't believe he got 2 weeks. How did they decide that was medium impact? It should have been low impact, and if that still makes it over 2 weeks then so be it but I think it is a stupid classification. There have been a lot more harmful or potentially harmful incidents that have been completely ignored by the MRP this year. He deserved a week - nothing more.

Does anyone remember the incident he got the reprimand for? According to fanfooty, charging Matt Thomas (port) this year.

  5. A win would say a lot about our youngsters because the team is full of them. Carlton has been going terribly so a loss would be disappointing but as long as we go close (AGAIN) I won't be too disappointed given no Neitz, Rivers, Bell, Yze, Whelan, Moloney, Johnstone, Green etc. The pressure is totally off the players now and I think they will come out and really enjoy themselves.

A win would be nice but a loss means no number 1 pick for Carlton - which means we can't lose.

  6. 80 to 16 at half time

    OH MY GOD

This scoreline would be terrible against west coast in perth, let alone against a team winless over 11 rounds.

I'm not usually one to call for heads but ND is gone. Yes, it is the players out there playing hopelessly but if he can't motivate them to at least put up a fight, he is gone.

What are our senior players doing? Bruce, Green, White, Robbo, Yze

"and it has become a totally embarrassment and i don't use the word lightly" ABC

  7. Very conservative selection.

I don't care how well Holland played last week. There is NO matchup for him. Listening to the radio and it sounds like Richo is playing all over him. Should have been dropped.

No Whelan. We could use some steadiness in defence.

36 points. Unbelievable. "richmond is killing melbourne" "hard to see a winner for melbourne" ABC radio.

    What a joke.

  8. 21-8

Richmond has started well and so has Nathan Brown. Making the non selection of our best small defender look silly.

Sounds like they are going at it harder and delievery into the 50 is lacking

  9. Then of course you have to look at the weather. Is it likely to pour (at the moment they are saying 14 with 'increasing showers'), and if so, do we still bring in an extra tall, or play someone like Dunn who is very good below his knees, or maybe go with a small forward line all together?

I'd say that is more reason to bring him in given how he faired in the wet for Sandy.

And in reply to Dappa Dan saying we could have played him in 8 of the 11 games, I disagree. His early season form was nowhere near as good AND consistent it has been the last 5 or so weeks. And when he finally was stringing good games together Neitz and Robbo returned to the team.

I will be really disappointed if he isn't selected. I don't expect him to be the next messiah but I'd just love to see how he goes in the seniors. We have nothing to lose in playing him.

  10. In hindsight, Garland getting a game in front of him was harsh but he wasn't going so well at that stage. Looks like it might have given him a bit of a kick up the bum.

I hope we get to see a bit of him soon. I would hate to see him become disenchanted and leave without us being able to see if he really is up to it or if it is all just hype afterall.

  11. Surely the evidence of our depth - or lack thereof - has been our performance in the first half of the season.

We've had a bad run with injuries and our record stands at 2-9.

Our depth is no worse than at least half of the competition but it isn't great. We have about 4-5 players who are good depth when our best 22 is playing but it drops of severely after that. So our depth is partly an explanation for the poor start to season. But what I think was far more of a factor was the quality of players we were missing. Any team, if hit by the injuries we were (to the quality of players) would lose more than they won, and most, like us, wouldn't win at all.

Neitz (missed 3 games/injured during 1 more) - our FF, leading goalkicker and captain

Robbo (6/1) - our backup for Neitz, 2nd leading goal kicker

McLean (7/1) - our best midfielder and clearance king

Johnstone (1/1 and has carried injuries all year)- our most creative midfielder, arguably our 2nd best midfielder when fit

Whelan (6/2) - our best small defender, with Rivers is the glue that holds our defence together

Rivers (8) - the man! Easily our best defender

    Bartram (10/1)

    Moloney (5)

Plus Green (2), Sylvia (4),Yze (3), Pickett (8), Wheatley (6) (his form in his last 2 games (not matter how people rate him) shows how much of a loss he was) and Jones (1/1)

Only Bruce, McDonald, White, Davey, Carroll and Bell have played every game. And don't say look at Adelaide because they have had nothing near what we have had. 15 of their players have played every game this year and another 2 have missed 1.

We don't deserve to be where we are and although depth contributed a bit, injuries are the reason.
