Funnily enough, watching that game I’d rather keep Oliver than Petracca. Petracca seems broken to me since the awful injury - fumbles a lot, pulls out of contests that he may get hurt, rushes to give away the ball rather than taking the tackle. He still does great things bc he is so talented and hardworking but I think what it may well come down to who we can get the best return for. Which is probably Trac.

Why didn’t anyone present up to Max?
With the game in the balance no leaders were present. That said, the game shouldn’t have come down to the final minutes.
This result makes season 25 very difficult to come back from. But stranger things have happened. Play like that against port and we’ll have the 4 points.
There wasn’t any time for any of this as the umpire inexplicably called play-on before Gawn had a chance to even look around.

We are linked in this article to Callum Brown from GWS. I like it. Him and Derksen at the end of the year for a pack of chips thanks.

We barely get any opportunities straight in front. For all the strides we've made over the last 6 weeks, our forwards continue lead into the pocket leading to difficult shots on goal. The Saints used the corridor much much better for better quality entries. They kicked 7 goals basically dead in front within 30m.
Our entries still aren't good enough, and if you go back and watch the QF against the fifth in '23 you'll see the same thing. If you pressure the opposition and force them wide, guess what? They have difficulty converting.
Given how close the competition is, I think we need 14 wins to definitely make it. That means we basically can only afford 2 maybe 3 more losses for the year but still have Collingwood twice, Gold Coast in GC and Adelaide away.
Expected scoring takes into account the difficulty of the shots (angle, distance, set shot vs in play etc) and we finished on a higher score. Sure, we could make things easier for ourselves by marking in the goal square but our goal kicking IS the problem.

Dunno how to get rid of the norm smith quote19 minutes ago, spirit of norm smith said: 11 minutes ago, Coobs said: We are a bottom four club who caught fire for a month
Nah that’s BS. We are not bottom 4 and won’t finish bottom 4 but we are clearly the worst kicks at goal in the league. Brings us down from being a possible finals team.

In some ways that makes this team more balanced. Allows us to play Verrall, Fullo and Jefferson through the forward line which feels like a bit more of an opportunity for them to do well. Go Casey!
I’d be very surprised if they hold over 3 players for the senior team. Seems much more likely to be just Henderson and Adams (one tall, one small).

2 hours ago, whatwhat say what said: i listened to her on the real footy tipping podcast
she makes her disdain for the mfc clear
Yes, I was going to bring this up. She said we were “pretenders” and backed it up with no reasons (she is saints supporter tho). She is an arrogant and salty individual. As a big AFLW fan, I cannot stand her. Doesn’t seem to have any insight into the fact that she has left two clubs on bad terms (maybe you are the problem?!). Trashes our culture every chance she gets as though she hasn’t been gone for over a year and was never part of the men’s program.
She is also insufferable as a commentator - overly critical of any team deviates slightly from perfection. I have never come across such a critical commentator.

First quarter we kept at them and niggled them all the time. See Melky getting at the big bloke.
Second I was concerned we went into a shell and allowed them time and space from our F50 allowing them to dictate terms. And deliver the ball low and fast and accurate. Thought we were witches hats at this stage.
After half time we seemed more disciplined
Some strange umpire decisions butLi…
Loved May hugging and getting around disco . I think windsor needs to play wing again,
Last quarter was all big max
Please!

Agree, it was extraordinary. The one to Long against Scrimshaw for example was baffling. And there were plenty more where that came from.

They have three expected to go first round (at least two of them top 10): Zeke Uwland, Dylan Patterson and Beau Addinsal (might have the spelling wrong).
White will be well down their priority list.

Was a huge part of his junior game and one of the reasons I was a fan on him on the wing. If he keeps developing it now he’s got a taste of what he can do he’s going to be a match up problem for mids. Hopefully he keeps it up.
I have been wondering why we don’t try him forward a bit. He certainly has the tools. He had a stand out game yesterday. Has the potential to be a top 10 player in the game.
