Um, yeah, starting to see a trend with the way this club regards it's history..
-
No it definitely makes sense, and does put things in perspective. There is a lot of lumping together and Covid shouldn't amplify the things that happened in the past when current staff were not here. I just hope we can afford the time they need to get it right. I've donated as well, can only hope.

And that's awesome absolutely. But the club has just got to show us right now that they are still on the right track and then this will influence the critical mass of members and fans. Unfortunately it's just the way it all works and people by nature want results, if everyone had the same attitude as you and were in the position to help the fundraiser would be over in an hour. Not as simple as that I'm afraid.

Sidebottom and Dunn investigated for Multiple Covid Breaches
layzie replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Some of the total garbage foaming on SEN at the moment is amazing. All sorts of slants and rhetoric that "if it wasn't for COVID-19 this would be a storm in a teacup". Oh, right. So any other time it's a great look to get blind drunk for hours and get taken home by the cops. People make mistakes fine, just cop the suspension and move on. Oh and lastly, don't forget to hold Eddie McGuire to the same standards that he was grandstanding when he went full bore in the Jack Steven saga. -
Get on board Clarko! Get the paperwork ready.

Probably the hardest pill to swallow, leaves you wondering is this all there is?

I agree with it all and yes we probably aren't that far off being a competitive team and yes we can all act like a bunch of keyboard warriors at times like this but here's what I know... This year is unlike any year any of us are going to face in our lifetime, the same goes for the game of football that we know and love. The economy has had a massive sledgehammer shot taken to it and the sporting landscape is changing rapidly as a result. This has unluckily coincided with one of the worst follow up years to a successful finals campaign we've seen in years. Last week the club started a fundraising drive to help with the $5M shortfall due to COVID-19. We also still get help from the AFL. The point I'm trying to make is that whether it's harsh on this playing group or not, we simply need results. What ever this season means to people it is a season where the members and supporters must be convinced we are still heading in the right direction, for fans and stakeholders because I tell you what after buying a trident level membership, not requesting that money back and then making a separate donation over the weekend because I feel like the club could well be on its knees I feel it is more than fair to expect this. Any other time I would understand the insistence of giving it time but we may simply not have it and it could well be do or die. And as for giving it till the end of next year and if things aren't better than make the changes, I sincerely hope we get to that point mate. People have had it with looking across the field and using the old line "Well they have a lot more experience than us" I've literally heard this for the last 11 years and it is getting really old! Why have we not developed these experienced players in that time? Why is it in 160+ years of existence we have 1 player with 300 games experience and 9 with 250+? You made great points and I absolutely agree but when the sh** hits the fan and the musical chairs stop no one will be giving us more time.

I think this is spot on, we can bang on about coaching all we want and a lot of that is valid but I saw a lot of stupid stupid nonsensical decision making today. The Salem example is perfect and takes the words right out of my mouth seriously the one time we try to precision pass? Ergh. It's pure football sense and a lot of our players are showing they just don't have it right now.
-
Yeah it's probably that stupid segment where they wear the clubs they played for and if it was multiple clubs they make a multi jumper. I remember they somehow mashed a St Kilda, Sydney and Bulldogs jumper together for Barry Hall a few years back. Shocking show, admittedly I do occasionally watch it when I feel like a brain dead Sunday night laugh but for the most part it's pure bogwash.

He was ok don't get me wrong and if there was a level we knew he could hit that he is working back to then it would be ok but the truth is his game today is not too dissimilar from his games when he's been fully fit and raring to go. His 4 kick game in a forward 50 that had 46 entries today being considered v good probably says a bit about where we are.

Yeah so I'm trying to think of what to even say about the game today and I'm just coming up short. I got very little. I don't even know what the issue is but the gameplan does not appear to be one that is working. I just heard Lever's post game interview and he believes in the system and says when it's up and running can bring about some great football, I appreciate his sentiment rhetoric or not but seriously how much banging the head against the wall do we need to go though? Ball gets kicked into 50, no marking option, hits deck, can we keep it in thereeeee?? No we can't, out it comes, moment gone. That piece of play from Kozzie to keep it in and kick it back to Melk in the square was incredible and deserved a goal how did we squander it? So many deflating moments like that. Our midfield has become slow and boring, everyone works hard but nothing happens. Handballs are poorly timed and go to the wrong person or just miss the person altogether. The Cats matched us in contested footy for most of the day. 105 uncontested marks to 46, Geelong chipping sideways and making us run around and get tired. WHAT IS THE PLAN FOR THIS? Because it seems like continuously playing it into their hands was all we felt like doing. Outcoached again Goodwin. Few good performers, I would say the majority of our side were 5 out of 10s. Clarry continues to work hard but isn't playing the smartest footy right now, VIney doing his usual bull like 20 odd touches and not really effecting anything. Kozzie was a shining light and gets you excited when he's simply around the contest and Lockhart might have made some mistakes but I'd prefer to see him out there than others. Hannan just doesn't do enough for me, in and out of games too often. In the past we've loved him because he'd have games like this and bob up and kick 2 in the last to gloss the reality of his performance but he's just not that good in reality. I will give a little leniency, 1 game in 13 weeks is not easy. Yes I will give it some time, but my god if I see another performance like that after a solid 4 week block then well yeah. Get it together.

Probably not but I think the mood would have been similar to after the Carlton game, would have papered over some cracks.

Losing still stinks

Grand stand finish!

Well done T-mac. Needed one for confidence

Bit of a dagger

Lift this quarter

Not good enough really. Gameplan is not working.

Those the ball on the boot seriously

Here comes the fall apart
-
Effort seems to be there. Geelong look shocking

Big performance required today, I know it will be tough coming off a scratch match but I want to see the dare and confidence we had in that first quarter against Carlton. Lower the eyes, short kicks into the 50 and only the bomb when we really have to. This team needs to show they can stick with the process, even if that process isn't perfect right now. Need to show we can withstand pressure and when the tide turns in a game and it will, we show that we can still win that hard ball or kick that settling goal. Consistency of effort is key here.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as a lot of others here, Hours cut to 30 a week and several layoffs, several expenses including rego coming up. I think I have to do this, I am most likely going to regret that but I guess I'm going out as much or spending as much as I used to (After all I'm sitting on DL at 1am on Sat morning). I know there are plenty of people here in worse positions who would kill to donate right now. Make no mistake what I contribute is as much for you as it is for me.

That's some good Sat brunch footy viewin in Perth!
