  1. Dogs decimated by injuries still having a crack
  2. Better than Whorethorn winning another one i suppose...
  3. GW$ are a franchaise derived out of a Tax Benefit. Never a club.
  4. Bugg will be on a hard tag Hiuse on it!!
  5. Jones was bad in the first Quarter when the tone was set..The Hawks killed us in the that first half hour As a Captain he has to be more proactive when it really counts
  6. Certainly hope you are right.
  7. Aern't they just excuses? the Dogs list was decimated last year and they kept winning. They found a way...as we should have on Anzac Eve...
  8. The bulldogs lost players almost every week last year. They found a way to beat adversity. We have to do the same if we ever want to be respected and feared again.
  9. Live to air. You just keep going
  10. I keep bringing it up because it happens every week. And it only happens at this club look at the Dogs over the last 3 years beveridge nailed it the moment he walked in. I have never said "i know it all" but it is easy to see what happens. Our Jumper is not valued highly when the real heat is applied and that has been occuring since i was in kindergarten
  11. We have to do what Nought did back in '73-'74. Buy outside experience 4-6 players from outside over a couple of years. We have some good kids, but they won't do it alone. As you say. It's just been too long since '64, our jumper is not revered like a Whorethorn or Geelong. It's just been too long since it stood up. We have to make Free Agency our best friend like North did for the 10 year rule. I reckon Goodwin can be a brilliant coach, but he needs some mental brute force in the side, guys who have done it before. Lewis is a great get. But we need more. Some of our young stars are not going to be at the club forever, we have to deal some great Poker hands to get what we need. The backline is a shambles this year compared to what Roosy was doing. A good tight backline can still attack...
  12. Exactly. Better to identify a major problem than just accept it. I am sure Goodwin is aware of the mental attitude, but my alarm bells first kicked in last year at Round 22 when we were a good sniff to make finals, if we were tough enough. Nope. They had switched off. It was too hard and we are still seeing it happen. When they do switch on they can they can beat anyone. I will be watching Jones very carefully next weekend, he has to step up and lead or give the job to someone who can do it
  13. You can choose to put your head in the sand if you wish or put me on ignore, i am not going to lose sleep either way. But there are recurring themes that keep coming back. Melbourne sides in my 46 years have always had trouble with intensity, keeping it going for any sustained period of time, even under J Northey we dropped crucial games to lose a double chance in finals campaigns. I don't consider it wallowing in misery to be just a little concerned at the moment when the side has talent but is not mentally switched on at the first bounce. Whorethorn are not what they were, but we let them take control for to long, with sloppy kicking and stationary handballs. It never works. Goodwin has been inside the club for 3 years, it's not as if he has walked in cold. I expected the intensity to be flat out, not just a quarter here and there, at least Viney is showing it now. Good on him People on here are saying that 2017 is now a development year, and you call me out for being negative! what a joke i want some September action and we can still do it if the players revise their attitude
  14. Well written article. The mental side of the game still needs work
  15. All fair points, But Clubs know they can jump us early. Research like this is down to the last drop. Why have we always started slowly, even with Gawn in the side Is it Jones not being a strong enough leader? It has to be something easily identifiable, because it seems to be a "Team" thing When they switch on, it is the whole Team responding together.
  16. How old are you Wise? How long have you followed the MFC? F%^ed if I am going to cut up my Membership, I want the club to thrive...
  17. For all the improvements (and there are many) we are still not seeing 4 Quarter efforts. As a long time supporter and member that is all i have ever wanted since 1971 still waiting. Other Clubs seem to master it as a standard for the MFC it is only reserved for special occasions. Why is that?
  18. No i don't. But it has to be more middle ground. Fear of Failure is not always a bad thing, i just don't players getting too comfortable (fine line i know) i am remembering school days in class. I didn't push myself that extra 1% if i thought a teacher was friendly. As in they will understand. If i held a little fear or awe to a teacher i wanted to prove myself to them, so i worked harder.
  19. Not Enough though. They have to push it further for longer...
  20. This is the main problem and it is why us "older blokes" are still Banging on about it. Because we have seen it unfold multiple times before. I want Goodwin to succeed, but i worry when i hear that he is mates with all the players and they love him. On one hand that is great, but Goody has to ride these guys hard. Probably harder than he realizes at this point.
  21. You make some good points and i agree with all but one. Competitiveness - Why are we still non competitive for such large blocks of time (1-2 Quarters) particularly the first half. If we run out of gas in the last Q i can cop that, but what makes me bewildered and angry is when the effort and skills are below standard in the first Quarter or Half.
  22. Goodwin has to be hard (but fair) on this list it's the only way to break the cycle Nought were so used to losing before RDB got there We have the talent, but not the mental drive...yet.
  23. Ridicule, Resentment??
