  1. Best good ordinary players we have had on the list for a while. Of course, many were ordinary, ordinary players previously. It's amazing how good ordinary players rise to the occasion, when its required, as the team develops, evolves and gels. As the old axiom goes, a team's worth is measured by how good their bottom 6 players are, not their top 6. Hopefully, we'll get the answer on ours, in the not too distant future.
  2. Sorry OD. I couldn't help myself. I have been PC, ever since I started hugging trees and wearing hemp made pants, while living in Nimbin, eating mung beans and brown rice. Found my inner chakra after reading Germaine Greer's the Female Eunuch. I also have a very strong feminine aspect in my yin and yang. Peace man.
  3. PC??? Personal Computer?
  4. I would have thought this goes against the code of conduct. Just absolutely no need for this.
  5. Not sure, by the grab you refer to how this seems to have changed. I would suggest that being where you want to be has a lot to do with the environment of the place you want to be in, which includes an environment of success, with a direct correlation to wins/losses
  6. This is pretty simple really. The MFC is doing the right thing by letting the kid go home to see family. It is called 'management'. So the conspiracy theorists can hypothesise as much as they like. I will only believe he's gone, when he's gone, otherwise, he remains a loyal Demon.
  7. While I don't think we are as mentally fragile, in terms of the previous state in which the legacy of past regimes left us, I think we have moved on to another stage. A list that is still young and has a tendency to get ahead of itself, in terms of the the reality of the progress it has actually made. I also think when they get a bit of positive media coverage, as they did after winning 2 in a row - WOW - they start to believe their own publicity. This is the next challenge in our evolution into becoming a truly good football team.
  8. Exactly OD. While Jesse's form appears to be ordinary at present, the attention he attracts from key backs, frees up our crumbers.
  9. Keep in mind as we have other young guys on the rise - should they fulfil their potential - such as Petracca, Brayshaw, Viney, Weideman, et al, they will also command greater coin. Besides Fremantle, there will be plenty of other sides chasing the Hulk. So we have to balance keeping the core of the list together, or lose a one gun for the greater good. We face a delicate balance in the not too distant future.
  10. For quite sometime, that's all we've really had. Only difference this time is that the dreams seem somehow more real.
  11. Understood Rusty, but if we can even approach that level of final performance in a final's series in the next couple of years, I will be extremely happy.
  12. I recall Brad Green ripping it apart in the final against Carlton in 2000.
  13. That's my mum.
  14. Damn. I am so jealous. I never even got close.
  15. Very sad to hear that. I remember him well. Very lean times back then of course, but I remember fondly the trips as a young fellow down to the lakeside oval to watch the night premiership games and Phil Rhoden's booming drop kicks from fullback. RIP John.
  16. Before I comment, I freely admit that I am no AFL playing expert. However, 2 things struck me early in the game on Saturday. JH was double teamed mostly and mauled by the opposition. Davis was into him even before the first bounce - fair enough. But, in the first quarter alone he deserved at least 2 frees in the forward 50. Nope, Sweeney Todd (Razor Ray and his cohorts) would have none of it. Second, it amazed me that there were no crumbers at his feet. Contrast that with the Geelong 'smalls' hovering around Hawkins and Dixon yesterday. To me what mattered most, was when the coach asked for a greater effort in the last quarter, it was Jesse who was one of the ones who put his hand up. That shows something about the "kid".
  17. Showing your age Fence, but I used to love this band. In their heyday they were world class. Used to see them at Ormond Hall opposite Wesley many moons ago. Tim Gaze a very underrated guitar player. The late Harvey James did a fair job in that regard as well. Memories!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Great vision to see Roosy tell the kid he's in. Warms the cockles.
  19. Absolutely agree. He is still 20, with his entire AFL career in front of him. He is only in his 2nd year and with 2 seasons left on his contract, a lot can happen between now and then. We keep forgetting that for AFL players, their football careers are their entire livelihood, so it would be against his own interests to put pen to paper right now. He has a perfect right to weigh up his future. That said, I am confident that the major drivers in whatever decision he does make, will not be money or the 'go home' factor. He simply wants to see our footy club is clearly heading in the right direction and that he can see a future where he will play a pivotal role in a red hot finals campaign in the not too distant future. And that is his right. Kick ass in 2016 Jesse.
  20. think Hawthorn 2008. ............. no wait. Shouldn't dare to dream after our last decade. Should I?
  21. Still can't find the link to the Herald Sun story that Redleg referred to.
  22. Nothing new on here
  23. Try using liquid paper Fester. ............ Oh ..... wait!!!
  24. This is precisely what confronts the crowd at Tullamarine.
