  1. I moved to the country 2 .5 years ago and have barely been to the footy since. I occasionally watch a game and have only been to the North game this year. I no longer sign up as a member and just received by MCC renewal and doubt I'll be taking that up any more. The AFL is a greedy corporate entity and the game is unwatchable at times. I have little interest with games involving Adelaide, Port, West Coast, Fremantle and Brisbane. I have absolutely no interest in games involving the suns or gws. That leaves me with about 8 games a year I enjoy or should enjoy watching. The game is too different for me to really enjoy anymore. My once beloved Demons who I've supported since 1970 have been beyond poor for too long now. I really don't care anymore. I've got too many better things to do. Roos will leave in a couple of years and we'll maybe play a few finals but can anyone really see any player on our list playing in a winning Grand Final for this club. I can't and I can't be bothered!

  2. A little surprised with Toumpas going out but I guess the "last in, first out" rule of thumb was applied. Jetta was in good form before he was replaced at the last minute so if he was always going to come back in, someone had to make way.

Previously those players who have been dropped have normally had shockers. In a way it's pleasing that we've dropped a player who's form wasn't that bad. I thought Jimmy showed a bit 2 weeks ago but it looks like players are really going to have to earn their spot to get in the side.

More games at Casey won't do Toumpas any harm regardless. He's still very young and has lots of time.

He's also incredibly slow, quite timid and another very poor high pick.who belongs in the seconds

  3. Another slow B grader to add to the ranks. Schwab, Connolly and Neeld have all but killed this team. Roos will find it near impossible to either fix it or find anyone stupid enough to takeover. We,re along way off it now. I wonder if Jackson still expects my money?

  4. All I said was I don't believe he has the mettle to become the star so many of you see. Your reactions are that of an hysterical CWA meeting but at least they can bake.

I don't eat 4n20 pies as chewing on the [censored] of a cooked poorly treated dead animal isn't for me.

  5. Just asking, you seem to have wavered on your opinion. If you are so strong in your opinion you would have taken up the bet, you backed down. Hold your opinion if you have it and back it up, you may well be right.

Set what you consider to be a reasonable measure on Morton to B grade, 'binman' considered it Brownlow votes over a few years but you might have a different measure. I am interested in how you would measure it. It does have to be over his career though and not just 2014.

    Am I betting with you?
  6. If I can't have an opinion on a players hardness and appetite for the contest on a football forum what do you want to talk about?

I know, how good all our players are!!

I played football until I was 26. At a reasonable level. I took the odd short step, everyone does. I also went when it was my turn. I dont see Toumpas doing that.

  7. So you think he will come good down the track now? are you back peddling?

Sorry have i missed something? You trumpeted that the Toump was weak and in your view would be never be better than somewhere between Cale Morton and a B grader. Fine, everyone's entitled to their opinion. However you upped the ante when someone disagreed and you responded by saying you would bet that you are correct.

I agreed to take the bet. I put up what are reasonable terms and you baulk. All talk. Nothing is more annoying than someone who talks the big talk and won't back it up.

Do you seriously think that one season (his second in the AFL) will satisfactorily answer the question of how good the toump will become? You're either clueless or a troll - i suspect the latter.

Anyway more fool me for engaging in this discussion. I will now put you on ignore ( a select group i must say so congrats).

By the by i suspect the Toump will have a terrific 2014.

    Whatever

    How's this

If he's ordinary next year you can't post again until he has a good year. I'm happy to factor in his years in the game. Happy now?

  8. The good news George is that our net asset position at the end if the year is still in the black by $3m underpinned by property, a good position given the seven years of underperforming football teams after, at one stage being in deficit by $5m.

The lesson is we need good administration but even more than that we have to perform in our core business and start winning games of football.

Glenn Bartlett's biggest challenge IMO is to restore us to complete independence from the AFL if that's at all possible - a task that will probably take no less than 2 to 3 years.

To be Independant of the AFL we need a fair draw with home games against the big vic clubs

Otherwise they rightly hand over the money

  9. Interesting. Nice move of the goals posts. Your asserted that you were willing to bet that he would never become more than an average player and i said i would take that bet. You might remember i also suggested a metric of 2 years in the next six where he gets more than 10 votes in the brownlow (using the logic that the brownlow is the mid fielders award).

Now you are moving it to having an ordinary year? Troll like.

I'm happy to take the original bet, with the loser no longer posting on Demonland.

So, will you take the bet? Given how confident you seem to be about your assessment of the Toump's potential i would be puzzled if you don't.

    You make the bet

    I don't care

I know I'm right so Ill bet anything you like

Go back and watch him play, he's [censored] himself

  10. All well and good. But as i say in the post from me you quoted i am willing to bet you are wrong. Again i say put your money where your (virtual) mouth is.

You are the one who said you are willing to bet that your assessment of the toump is correct. Well i say put up or shut up. Lets not make it a money bet, Something more creative. Perhaps Demonland can come up with a stake. Again put up or shut up.

If be has an ordinary year you can never post on Demonland again
  11. Wow......All this for a young rookie who was getting over an injury in his first year......Just...Wow....

. I'll take that bet. What shall we wager and how will we determine a winner?

Haha well done on winning the 'worst post ever' Title..

While we are at it you can have tool of the year aswell.. FMD

i really dont want to get abusive here, holding it back.

But it's AFL supporters like you that make me want to tear out the seats at the MCG.

I will reiterate a point that you're seeming to forget, we HAVE NEVER had a player of such class and composure with the footy.

Toumpas by 2016 will be a far better player than Jones IMO, he will surpass our so called 'good players' so quickly ill be like a flash of light.

Perhaps we've assumed wrongly. It's a given that posters seem to think Roost It doesn't know what he's talking about, so it's equally possible on that logic that he thinks Morton is the best AFL player the world has ever seen. If that's the case, a player falling somewhere between the best AFL player the world has ever seen and a B-grader will turn out to be a darn good player. Perhaps Roost It should be given the credit he deserves for his post.

He will be first picked in my dream team this year.

You condemn me for not rating a player as highly as you do. He has not shown an appetite for the contest. He will get eaten alive by the experienced sides and play his good games against the young ones. You lot will rave on about these games. I will groan at you posts and Jimmy will at out his career as a bit player
  12. The softest thing on this site is Ben Hur

Have you ever heard anyone so keen on the sound of their own opinion

He's now quoting his cousin who is clearly sharing the same family trait of covering their glaring weaknesses by pointing out others issues

He's the guy who bullied the wimpy kids at school until one finally hit him

He now hides out as the local bully on Internet forums
