GWS said yesterday they wanted to stagger the release of new signings.That being the case,i'm tipping Monday to be the day Tom is unveiled as the GWS marquee signing,regaining the AFL focus after a weekend of 4 great finals and maximise newspaper exposure in Sydney,that's how i'd do it.It's been nearly 2 weeks since Tom's last game,he'd know by now. If Tom played his whole career with us,he'd earn 8-10 $Million excluding endorsements,it's not as if he plays his last game and can't earn any money after retirement.Cameron Ling owns/part owns 3 pubs in Geelong and is set up for life,Mark Ricciuto the same in Adelaide.Tom could do the same,maybe Gary Lyon should offer to partner with Tom in a few pubs/businesses,at least Tommy wouldn't drink the profits. If Tom invests his money properly,he'll make more money after football in the next 40 years of his life.I invested wisely a few years ago in a Sovereign Islands home on the Gold Coast,see pic.It's since doubled in price. Stay with the Demons Tom and invest wisely and you'll make more than you'll ever be able to spend.

Good Riddance Tommy Boy $$$ No great loss,he'll never be a Judd,Ablett or Pendlebury. He'll be more like a Dal Santo,he's far too outside who handballs too much to teammates under pressure,not a great kick and no good overhead. I would've been absolutely shattered had it been Trengove.

I'll be devastated if Tom stays with us because we'll have to pay him double what he's worth and that's not fair to other better performing players.I'd take 2 first round draft picks for Tom in a heartbeat,that's Gysberts & Tapscott/Blease for Scully! Would anyone take Scully over those 2? Definately not.I hope he announces it Monday morning.

I agree that if we do get Malthouse,it should be from 2012,but if it does happen from 2013 i don't want Viney coaching in 2012.He doesn't have the passion for the top job and we'd go backwards as we have this year. I'm just saying Neeld would be far better for 1 season than Viney.

Uh,yes i do. My above scenario is obviously that Neeld doesn't get the Bulldogs/Crows job,sorry i had to spell that one out to you! Sanderson will be Buckley's no. 1 man and Neeld could find himself out of a job. Melbourne offers Neeld the Head Coaching job for 12 months with our list and you think he'll say no? A chance to show what he can do with other clubs watching his progress.You wouldn't rather 12 months as head coach over another 12 months as an assistant on your CV? Strange!

If Mick Malthouse is unavailable to coach next year but is available in 2013,i think we should appoint Mark Neeld as head coach in 2012 with a view that Mick would coach from 2013 (Mick would take over in October 2012).In 2012,Mark Neeld would instill Mick's defensive structure & gameplan as well as a few of his own ideas.Mick & Mark would catch up on a weekly basis and there would be nothing to stop Mick from visiting training every now and again,even on a weekly basis for a "chat" to a friend.If Mick is not involved with the Pies next year as everybody says,but sits out for a year,well then he could visit the club as much as he wants.Mick always says the Mark Neeld is his no. 1 assistant and was involved in a lot of the Pies midfield and defensive strategy.I think Mark Neeld would be happy to be a head coach for 12 months as there's no guarantee he'll have a job at the Pies next year under Buckley,especially that Sanderson is going to the Pies.Mark Neeld is much more advanced than Todd Viney who wants to go back to his development role and doesn't have the passion that's needed for the top job. I think this is a win-win for all concerned.

Bartram misses another goal!!! We must find another tagger who can kick.There's no place in AFL if you can't kick,too many missed goals and turnovers.

Regardless of who has C next to their name,Brent Moloney is our leader and should captain for at least the next 2 years while other players (JT & JG) concentrate on their football without the heavy burden of worrying about the captaincy.It's a huge job captaining an AFL club with the media and sponsors etc. all wanting a piece of you on a weekly basis,it's not just tossing the coin on gameday. Trengove and Grimes are nowhere near ready for the captaincy and those of you who voted for them know Jack about what it takes and how your onfield performance can suffer.Both of them will be leaders in 3-4 years but why push them into it at such a young age when their games aren't developed enough.

We haven't developed our young players like say Hawthorn has.Look at the progress of Savage,Puopolo,Bruest,Suckling and even Cheney has improved after leaving us. They would all be playing at Casey if they were on our list.

Another coach without a defensive side to his gameplan? No thanks. Bulldogs are always ranked 15-17 for tackles inside 50,contested posession and turnovers inside D50. The game has moved to a more defensive strategy and Eade didn't move with it.

No we can't. They play as a well drilled team for 4 quarters,we don't. We might take a quarter off them,after half time.

5 of the last 6 coaches to win flags have been first time coaches with only Malthouse the experienced coach,so don't underestimate a Mark Neeld or Brenton Sanderson,although the former would be my pick.

I wouldn't give him the head job,maybe the head assistant.

This players v admin. thing goes back to Jmac getting the flick last year.Brad Green & Cameron the Bruce were seething and obviously the rest of the playing group.Jmac is now working for the Giants and has he been talking to Scully about this is the way Melbourne treat their Captains/players? Chris Connolly had a big role in the way the Jmac departure was handled,i'd be surprised if he doesn't go too.

I find it hard to believe Tom would go through all this daily scrutiny for 12 months,play his final game this year and then declare he wants to re-sign with us. He's following the Ablett model.

Absolutely impossible for us to better 10 wins for the year with not one forward in form for the year(Jack Watts the only big improver),Scully out for 11+,Davey out for 10,Frawley out for 4,Jamar out for 4,JT out for 4,Grimes out for season,Aussie unavailable and a bunch of under 21's running through the midfield.LJ had a shocking year,Petterd and Morton up and down,Bate out of favour. How do you get more than 10 wins from the above? No coach could've done any better considering this is our second season after our last spoon.We are not a top 8 team yet,regardless who the coach is. Although i'm not a fan,Bailey gets another season and he better work on a more defensive gameplan preseason,ie. start defending across the centre rather than 20 metres from goal!

Bottom line is Hawks are a top 4 team and we're not ready to beat top 4 teams yet,we have far too many under 22 year olds that are not up to it physically and our footskills are well below par and on top of that Jurrah,Petterd,Maric,Bate & Dunn have all been out of form this year and Aussie not available.Only Watts has taken his game forward this year with Green & Sylvia up and down.Howe is a good upgrade on Bate and Cook will be worth waiting for. This is only our second season after our last wooden spoon,look how long it took Carlton.We need patience while we get 50 more games into this group.

No wonder we haven't won a flag since '64!
