  1. Too true. The man is trying to have his cake and eat it as well. If he really considered himself worthy of a fourth season he would be reporting for work (i.e turning up to training) and working his butt off. If he's still crook with concussion then the club was always doing the right thing by him - either way, his current position is untenable.
  2. The game was shown recently on the Fox ? Footy Channel. Travis Johnstone looking like a hobo late in his career still had an immaculate kick on him.
  3. What horses mouth? Have you considered the possibility that it wasn't Mahoney's voice at all but that it was a dubbed voice over? People claim that about me all the time you know.
  4. All the more reason for him to be included in the injury list but he wasn't.
  5. Another great article from Martin Flanagan on our own cult hero:- AFL 2016: Max Gawn and the Melbourne revival
  6. My match report The Melbourne Demons used the prevailing wind to its advantage to record a 12 point come from behind win over an inexperienced Western Bulldogs side in its second NAB Challenge game at Highgate Arena in Craigieburn. The Bulldogs pulled away early with the advantage of the wind but they lost most of the ascendency by half time thanks to the hard work of Jack Viney and Jack Watts. By the last change however, the Doggies had retained a 19 point lead but the Demons, with skipper Nathan Jones playing his usual inspirational captain's game, took control for a handy 2 goal victory. Melbourne 0.1.2 0.4.4 0.6.5 0.10.12.72 Western Bulldogs 0.4.3 0.4.5 1.7.8 1.7.9.60 Nine pointers: Melbourne: Nil. 7. Those spoiled clubs trying to get their own way on everything. The clubs with former Essendon players suspended weren't allowed to top up their lists with a single rookie while the Bombers were given ten top ups, salary cap relief and the ability to benefit from a high draft pick after a season where a dozen of their players are missing. The AFL commission would make itself irrelevant if it caved in to the other clubs over this.
  8. You need to understand how insurance companies operate. The appeal process is going to waste a lot of time and probably a lot longer than many would expect. It has been estimated that it could take 4 to 6 months for leave to appeal, a hearing on the appeal issues and an outcome. If successful, the matter will probably get referred back to CAS and that could take 6 - 9 months. In the meantime, the insurers don't have to pay anything out and are saving a suitcase full of interest on the millions that are potentially required to be paid out to players and others who might make claims against the EFC. It's a game of attrition and in many cases, long delays could mean that desperate claimants can get crunched into accepting lesser amounts just to finish it all off. An investment of $500k payable in dribs and drabs over the next 12 months might well save more $'s the insurers in the long run.
  9. Thought this was worth sharing- Hidden pain of a rising AFL star
  10. Except in this case the "rumour" was started by the Chief Football Writer for a major metropolitan newspaper who, according to her fans, has x rays vision, can hear through walls and is able to leap buildings in a single bound,
  11. Any news on O'Meara's medical condition?
  12. Dunno about Walker. Surely, if we want that sort of player, we would be better off trying someone like Weideman in the draft?
  13. Missing him? With T Mac standing supreme in defence and having Dunny, Garlo and Oscar, I can't see us missing Frawley at all.
  14. Sarcasm = lowest form of wit.Hulk is good!!!
  15. Problem with the Bummer players is that they never learned to say "neigh".
  16. Don't think WJ was being entirely complimentary there. Bit of a backhanded slap for the lad on the way out.
  17. Happy to know that once a player joins MFC he automatically loses his DH status.
  18. Absolutely agree with that and it's why I like the look of Mitchell. The only player out of the midfield category we need is an additional key position player to replace Mitch Clark but the emphasis will once again be strongly on the midfield.
  19. Don't we need players who can get the footy? Given that we know he can get his hands on the ball, surely the big question is can he stay healthy and what's his disposal and decision making like?
  20. If you've created a board dedicated to trade and draft discussion elsewhere then why are we discussing trade and drafts here?
