  1. Roos also said Watts is one of the best people he's met in football in his entire career. "Love the guy". I suspect he didn't form this view in the last 3 months.
  2. Yeah, he had the wrong attitude. With Gawn, he's probably the most popular player at the club. Confirmation bias. Look. It. Up.
  3. To clarify the inevitable response, I think Tom Lynch (Crows) will be AA before Watts this year but Watts' name is definitely in the conversation.
  4. Convenient perspective. Too convenient. Unfortunately it doesn't reflect the truth. You just don't go from the rubbish bin to a massively required player/verge of AA selection in one pre-season.
  5. No changes other than for injury/fitness reasons. This side has a nice balance to it.
  6. Need to use that dough to pay the Prestias who are already on our list.
  7. Viney is the obvious choice. Watts into the LG next year. The question on my mind is whether Watts is a sneaky chance of AA selection this year.
  8. I totally agree Clint. I thought we'd win today (for some weird, not necessarily logical, reason). And then I saw Hogan being ruled out/omitted and Pedo coming in, and it simply strengthened that belief. He's not a particularly sexy footballer, but he seems always to add value/contribute. Would be very disappointed if he doesn't get another year. Whilst he's probably not in our best 25 going forward, he's still very important to us, eg, today.

  10. I feel exactly the same. Possibly the most excited I've felt about a game since the finals in 2006. I canned a trip to Vancouver this week, partly due to work commitments, but mainly to watch this game. I reckon we can do this.
  11. It's interesting that in discussing key defenders in the competition no one has really mentioned Frawley. We got a sweet deal for him. Pick 2 or 3 (whichever it was) was a pretty good result for us.
  12. Okay - happy for you to keep boxing at every rumour-shadow that some 16 year old comes up with on FB each morning.
  13. There are certain posters here who, if voting in the US election, would definitely being voting for the most shallow, narcissistic idiot on planet Earth. And probably passionately so. I genuinely can't believe some of the stuff I read here from time to time. That said, go Dees!
  14. It'd be interesting to know some of the super large 'nearly' trades over the years that were locked in but that never came to fruition. Reckon it'd be a fascinating list.
  15. I reckon Tom McDonald will re-sign, as will Oscar. They both seem very committed to the club. It's an incredibly unusual situation to have two brothers drafted to the same AFL club with the very same pick (no. 53) albeit 4 years apart . I suspect Tom would have to answer to more than a few people, including his parents, were he to leave in circumstances where the MFC really wanted to keep him.
  16. I reckon Roos will go down as one of the most important people in this club's history. He not only saved the club, he transformed it.
  17. Trengove's a very good footballer. I suspect he just needs proper time in the system post-injury to get his body back and, relevantly, to regain proper confidence in it. He's been out for a bloody long time. But he's still young, talented and super professional. He's also a leader around the club and is obviously very well liked and respected by the other players and the coaching group. All this has to mean that he gets another year. At the Demons.
  18. Hibberd would be a quality addition to our side. Without doubt. Cant afford to give away much to get him though. Need to re-sign Tommy Mac. And go after a player like Gary Rohan. Hurley would obviously be great, but I reckon he'll stay with the Dons.
  19. Just typed in 'practising' and it didn't auto correct it to 'practicing', which is the word incorrectly used here in every second post. Anyway - I don't wish to hijack what is otherwise a very good thread. It was just an observation.
  20. I don't usually post this sort of stuff, but reading this thread is doing my head in. When used as a verb, it is 'practise' i.e. he needs to practise his kicking. When used as a noun, it is 'practice' i.e. I attended footy practice today. Given the title of the article that has been posted in this thread, even the Herald Sun doesn't seem to know the difference.
  21. Would be for me. Suspect I'd dine out on that for a very long time.
