I laughed at the posts saying he couldn’t play forward and even more at the posts that said he was a poor kick for goal. However, we still need to draft another key forward and then we will have 4 key forwards we can use.

Imo he plays again next week and continues to, unless he has a couple of absolute mares. Petty forward with JVR, Melksham and Fritta to come, is the way forward for the rest of the season. Tracc pops down occasionally, with smalls Chandler, Woey and ANB, who hopefully can reduce his turnovers.

Watch the” Petty can’t play forward” posters jump on the bandwagon now. Max was sensational again and Viney is our bull. Maybe Binman is right too with the loading, as we certainly ran away from them in the last. Hopefully we can now run over teams, right through to the flag.

They are punching it and kicking off the ground to get it forward, where they can run onto it. We should be doing the same as fast entry will win it.

I know what if’s are meaningless, but what if we had kicked straight against Port, or Grundy had tapped that first ball through for a point, or the umpire had paid that free to Tom Mac where Jonas was later suspended, or that 3 metre kick wasn’t paid a mark near their goal square and we had beaten Port. We would be playing the Tigers today, to go one game and percentage clear in 2nd spot. Oh well!

Yanks have changed ladder for medals in swimming World Championships, which is always Gold medal leader first and so on. They started their reporting that way. Now that Aussies are leading with 10 Gold to USA 3, they have changed the leader ladder to total of all medals won first. Pathetic!

Now if we are really talking to Port, it will be fascinating what the deal could be and of course, it needs Grundy’s approval to occur. If we are looking at Zane Duursma in the draft, could we go after his brother and maybe a key forward from Port as well, with something else involved, to do the deal. Clearly the Pies money would have to be still involved, as I couldn’t see us paying any of BG’s contract. Also we would have to have a mature ruck in sight, as our young rucks are not ready yet and we don’t want to destroy Max’s last few years of footy. Alternatively, could we be going after Reid and believe if we can get him and add an experienced key forward and then possibly draft another with a later pick, we will have achieved a great trade/draft period. Then again could Barrett be completely wrong and BG stays a Demon. I find this whole get rid of Grundy scenario bizarre, given his early form, Max’s age and our current young ruckmen.
