We haven't done well with trades from the Pies. Our bloke plays every week for them and BK is now at Casey. Dawes and HL were busts. I would be wary of taking even a so called good player from them.

If Hibberd and Hurley want out and to different clubs, I think Essendon will try and do the Hibberd trade early and a bit more reasonably than usual, to encourage the parties in the Hurley deal, to do a fair deal fairly quickly, so that picks can be used to on trade, or so that other deals can be done etc. If we are after both, it will a long drawn out process, unless we lay down on the deal.

We all know Rioli is a star but I have thought over the years he gets a very good go from the umps. He actually threw the ball about 20 metres on Saturday and it was ok and then he did the worst duck of the year to draw a free, causing the commentators to laugh. We have had 3 reportable incidents by Hawks looked at and not one drew a free. How is that possible? I hope we queried that as we won and can't be seen as whingers.

While they are down at the moment, so were we for a lot longer and not off 3 flags a few years before. We were denied a pick a couple of times, as the AFL said we had injuries which affected results and a good young list, that would improve. Same goes for the Lions. Then again the AFL makes it up on the run.
