  1. I think we will. Murray has been mentioned and they are probably assessing others.
  2. makes sense.
  3. Not sure. I suppose they would bring in an arbitrator to do what they want. They make the rules and we know how they can bend them.
  4. This doesn't sound right, but knowing the AFL it could be, I heard today that the AFL has told GC, they will give them a compo pick for Martin next year, after their first round pick, if they take him in the PSD and lose him the next year as FA. That means GC take him in the PSD, give him a 1 year contract and then if the blue scum take him as a FA next year they will get a top compo pick. The scum could still get him for nothing but at least GC won't be screwed.
  5. That would be a great result, if we can't convince him to come to us on a reasonable deal.
  6. Stop talking sense. I have hated one club all my life and that is the blue scum. I don't hate the players, just the club and its supporters. Listening to them again this morning and their arrogance, just heightens my dislike of them. They are rejoicing in the fact that they are going to screw the bottom club out of a number 1 pick player and get him for free. Their unbridled joy is sickening in the extreme. Personally, I would be prepared to take him and let him stand out of footy for 2 years, if he wouldn't come to the party, just to stuff them up. However, you are talking sense. We would have to overpay a player who has not earned it and it could upset our culture, salary structure and our players and for that reason only, if we can't convince him to come to us for a fair deal, let him go and so be it. I hope another good player would then pop up that GC don't want ,or can't take and we get him instead. I then continue to hope that the blue scum fail for many years to come. Go Dees.
  7. I can see it already. We pass on him and Blues grab him. He kicks the winning goal against us, putting us out of the 8 by one game and missing finals. Don't say MFCSS is dead.
  8. If we are talking a shortage of cap space, what was the rush in re signing 30, 40 and 42? Were they being chased by other clubs and are they in our best 22, no, so why the hurry? I would estimate those combined salaries at least at $600-750 k this year. We also had room for Elliott so clearly we have more space. I can't believe it is a salary issue, it will be Martin's preference being the issue. So do we convince him or his Manager that his future is with us and if unsuccessful, take him anyway and try and make him happy then?
  9. I get your point, but as clubs say, we have to back ourselves to make him happy. We have to create an environment that he is happy. Carlton have shown themselves to be ruthless, both in what they are doing with Martin and what they did in taking Nick Stevens in the same circumstances. I am not sure that you succeed in this world by being the nice guys. The Bombers kept Daniher against his wishes. The Swans did the same with Papley. Silvagni had the chance to do a fair deal and didn't, presumably to steal the player from the basket case, bottom club, that has just received AFL help. I am not sure the AFL would be happy if this is done to the Suns, especially by a side that has about 5 number one picks on their list already. I think the AFL would be happier if we took him, so a bad precedent is not set. Some on here want us to grow balls, now might be the time.
  10. I ...
  11. As Jack Hannath was focused on us, when Freo grabbed him! I have a feeling Eddie Betts has helped with Martin's decision. This is a fantastic opportunity to get a really talented though inconsistent player for nothing. We need to go hard with all of our resources, IF we want him. Whether that is getting Jetta, Davey, Whelan, Farmer, Barassi, Neitz, Lyon, Goodwin etc to talk to him, or whoever.
  12. We will see. Please don’t misunderstand what I am saying. I am not saying they are innocent I am saying this might lead to Jobe getting his win back.
  13. 6 more weeks of this.
  14. If he can go in the National Draft we won’t get near him. This needs his desire to come to us and first May, KK, Jetta and whoever, need to convince him and second, we need to do a deal with GC that we will delist someone for them, like Billy and agree to help them in the future with something. We won’t burn them as the wheel turns.
  15. Didn’t GWS offer us 6 and their 2020 first rounder, or are you being facetious and calling it a second because of academy picks next year?
  16. Would you get him with 6? If he is what we want and he is there at 6 then you would still do a deal with GWS for 6, 2020 first and maybe something else. Maybe they could delist a player for us to take.
  17. I posted the below on another thread, but was unsure if it could be done. I wonder now if this is the way to get a player from GWS, though they had plenty of chances today to do that sort of deal. "If a player is to be involved it has to be done in the next 97 minutes. Unless you could delist a player who agrees to come to us." I suppose if we named any players, GWS thought them superior to the player they were looking at drafting before Green.
  18. They need to keep enough to pay for Green, so on face value this won't be done now.
  19. Think Freo took him a few years ago, but he never did much.
  20. It is the record, not the little medallion that is important. Anyone can find a lost medal in the street, it doesn't mean they were awarded it.
  21. I haven't been sucked in at all. Read my OP. I am saying this is a way for the AFL to give Jobe back his Brownlow without losing face. I am not going through the whole saga again.
  22. Looking like Bruce deal is about to be done. So he is a domino off the table.
  23. If a player is to be involved it has to be done in the next 97 minutes. Unless you could delist a player who agrees to come to us.
  24. Very good. Was he a Father and Son?
  25. Was he carrying brown paper bags?
