We had players on Saturday doing things that haven't happened for a long, long time. Col Garland leaving his man to crash a pack to help out Chip. Dunn negating Judd the ENTIRE game. JV and MJ helping Nate Jones to become a damaging ball carrier that he is. Dean Terlich running in a straight line. Tapscott finding his niche. And the most exciting? Sylvia is starting to play like the player he can be. We are getting there.

Okay, so let's not teach our players any defensive part of their game. Let's allow players to run around unchecked, unfit, ill disciplined and petulant. Let's keep the NQRs that have been clogging our list for 5, 6 or 7 years. Let's ignore that our draft selections have been pathetic. Let's keep outdated training methods and snare a big win every now and then to keep the 'chaps' and the Redlegs happy. You have no vision.

Fair enough. I'm just citing him as a pattern begins to emerge. I noticed JV and Evans blocking for Nate Jones, I saw Sylvia standing up, I saw a little bit of the Frawley of old, I saw Matt Jones go hard, I saw Garland breaking lines. Baby steps.

I just don't think that Neeld is going to gift AFL games after poor performances. Our forward line was shite and Cam P's influence would have been minimal....but I can see where you're coming from.

Someone had to do a job on Judd and I thought he did it well. He had an impact. If he allowed Judd to run riot, the loss could have potentially been up to 100 points. Someone has to negate for the overall process of discipline and success. I think that Rhys Jones won a BOG in a grand final for playing a negating role? It's a building block, another step. I believe, in the last 18 months, that Dunn has lifted his intensity and work rate.

The game has advanced at such a rate of knots, our coaches since that time have been found lacking tactical nouse. Daniher had no idea about the flood, Bailey had no idea about the press or defensive accountability. We have no hardened bodies and our recruiting has been fvcken atrocious. Decisions to take Morton, Watts, Bennell, Cook, et al might yet bury this club. Noticed that Darling bagged a quiet 5 today.

Bit hard on these players, N. All youngsters and Strauss coming back after a long lay off with a broken leg - you and I both know that's a long haul back.
