  1. carlton are absolutely screwed without fevola. and they have NO depth. take out murphy, gibbs judd and fev and they would get beaten by a LOT of teams.

one advantage of our last few years with all the injuries and experimentation is that we will have fantastic depth going forward - lots of players with talent and experience to cover the odd injury or two.

Agree. We will win a flag b4 they do!! Thanks Lions, great result

  2. Hey all, have all the figures together (sorry for the delay!) and here's the story:

    donations received: $5946.87 !!

    costs:

    $3000.00 - final auction price

    $350 - buyers premium

$1066 - airfares (Cecily Granites and Susie Low)

    $180 - accommodation

$450 - tickets for The Long Journey for Liam's family x 6 (wife Shajira, Bruce, Rhea & Alex Hearne-McKinnon, Cecily's grand-daughter Naomi, Liam Campbell)

$0 - superb framing, with a plaque acknowledging Demonland and Demonology, courtesy of Joeboy!

    Total: $5046

We now have $900.87 to buy footy equipment. Happy days! The jumper is now back 'home', ready for unveiling late October when Mt Theo moves into a new office. We are all in excitement mode - the Warlpiri Wizard comes home tomorrow, can't tell you how many young fellas are in the office every day just waiting, waiting...

In other news, I was really chuffed to be invited to the Presidents lunch for the Demons final game at the MCG this season, paid for by your club. A day of highlights for me - first game at the MCG, first 'official' game I had watched Liam play with the big boys, sitting between Ron Barrassi and Dipper... does it get any better? Oh yes, the four magnificant goals Liam kicked, those he set up, and his ability to be just about anywhere he was needed. And let me tell you, even Mr Barrassi thought we could have won that game if Liam had been left to fly :-)

So now we have a couple of quiet weeks with Liam hanging out at the office, going hunting, talking story with family, and clearly he'll have an ever present entourage of young hopefuls. Heroes are important to everyone I guess, but especially out here. And you mob are probably quite unique in that you understand that, and have given us such a wonderful gift. One that will continue to inspire, for many many years.

    Cheers

    Nice one Nangal,

That must have been an amazing experience for you. I have been going to the G for 40 years and I still worship it every time I see it. To watch your mate play on that ground sitting with Barass is just a great story!

I can only imagine the excitement that your community must be feeling with LJ coming home. This bloke has lit up the imaginations of us loyal Demons and we are just loving watching his progress and enjoying every moment he is on the field. I have not heard our crowd erupt like it does when he goes near the ball since jeff farmer was on fire.

He is an inspiration and I can`t wait to see him running around the G with the premiership cup in his hands in 3 or 4 years time!

  3. Hey Two Sheds,

Mate I really don`t know what to write but just felt I had to respond to you. I think it is probably a good thing that you have shared your story even though you were not quite sure why you were doing it. You must be feeling so many different emotions and I think writing and sharing is a small way of releasing some pain, anger and frustration.

Stay positive mate, the mind is a truly powerful thing and you can beat this thing if you believe! Your story makes me realise how precious life is and not to take anything for granted. I think many of us take life far too seriously sometimes and what you have just written will be a wake up call for a lot of us Demonlanders.

Be strong mate! Thankyou for sharing!

  4. Hate to say it, but Collingwood are a big chance. The key is injuries. They have none! They have also won 10 of their last 11 games I think. Personally, I want the saints to win. Dogs might have lulled at the right time and are now coming home strong just at the right time. They could beat anyone on their day and are a big chance. Geelong will not win without a fit Steve Johnson or Chappy!

  5. Bater's got great straight line speed, but his lateral movement and agility isn't the best.

Big call from Gaz, top 50? Not so sure, but i agree with those here that have said he is underrated by many Demonlanders. I rate him and was baffled by some of the scathing criticism he copped earlier in the year. Deserves a top 5 finish in the b&f this year IMO.

Easily Top 5 for the Bluey this year, possibly Top 3

  6. I would think we are more than likley to need all of them for next years attempt to move up the ladder a bit

I would definatley be looking at a ruckman in the late draft picks or even trade for one

This years draft seems to be all about midfielders which will be no deeper than the second round talentwise

Other than Butcher their doesnt seem to be a quality tall in the draft

This years pre season will be important for us to build some body strength into players like Watts , Morton etc

Tend to agree that we need them all for another season unless we get an excellent trade deal with jamar if he is keen to move on but as far as I am aware this is simply a rumour at this stage. 2010 will be another year of experimentation, although we will all be hoping for a minimum 7 to 8 wins next year so I am all for seeing all these guys run around for 1 more year to see who has the most to offer when things get serious in 2 years time. It would be a crying shame to cut 1 of them now and watch them excel elsewhere.

I really like PJ but I would think he would be the most nervous to retain his spot on the list. If Jamar wants out however, we must keep PJ. Meeson has another year to prove himself otherwise he is a certain delist next year. Martin is a definite keeper because he will be the most versatile of all of them. Spence is still an experiment at this early stage. Has a lot of mongrel in him which is good to see! Got Kreuzer a ripper shepherd yesterday that was heard clearly on the 3rd level!

I feel there is plenty of upside in all of them but next year will be defining for each players future

  7. That will stop Scott Clayton calling him. Good stuff Cale. I thought maybe 3 years, does 2 years bother anyone?

Here is the link: - MORTON COMMITS TO DEMONS

Onya Cale! I`m Not concerned with 2 years at all. Every 21 year old in the country will want to be playing in our team in 2 years time. He`ll sign up for 3 or 4 after this contract!

  8. Boy, we have some clueless fans. It was hard enough to watch a very ordinary game of footy, but listening to our ``supporters`` bag our players for being hopeless and kicking backwards, and then reading some of the nonsense on this thread is even harder to take.

I actually enjoyed our insipid display today. It`s the most relaxed I have been at the footy in over a month. Some may say we took a small step backwards today when in actual fact we took a giant leap forward, particularly with Freo winning today!

Kudos to Matty Bate, you`ve silenced a few knockers in the past month or 2!

  9. Einstien, thanks for the comment...and just ignore my last sentence in being old! ekk..... It's totally ok not ot have one, yet we really see this as a huge market in the next few years! I have noted your suggestions and we will be apporaching the club very soon, once we have the knowledge from you guys ;-)

Steve, thanks for participating, maybe your answers may change in the next few years...or maybe not! ;-)

    thevil1 - sweet! Thanks a million!

Jackattack - one of the most useful comments we have had so far! All points taken onboard. I really appreciate your time here!

    Cheers

    Sam

  10. Cheers brey9186, I totally get that. Great point! We are building it specifically to strengethen the players personal brand - the app will have links to the club updates too. It will also have a feed from twitter. So instead of going to heaps of different sites - blog, forum, twitter, facebook fan page etc..it will all be intergrated into one! I totally get it's not for everyone, yet you have the option of choice here. In answer to your q Clint, it's there when you need it. We are becoming more and more connected thanks to the internet. Some people hate change and will slam this yet the people that want to feel part of their team/club will embrace this. Just like you are doing here!

  11. Cheers for your comments so far guys. iphone apps are ever increasing and becoming more popular by the second, it's a massive market. If you think about it, over 10 years ago hardly anyone had a website, and there were only 2 hosts..... now look where we are! It's called future thinking..and for the people that do have them, and use them everyday it's an added bonus, simply another way to connect with a person, brand, feature. In this case, it's another way to touch base iwth your fav player. It's 2009 guys!!! Stylus, thanks mate, I'm guessing you are under 45!! ;-)

  12. Howdy,

My name is Sam and I'm using my hubbi's account to run this poll. Thanks Craig or Hell Bent as he's known on this space! :D

I work for a media agency and we are looking to develop an iphone application specifically so you can track your fav Melbourne Demon player/s.

The best ideas always come from the people, you guys... so i'm asking for your help... in return we can design and develop a super powerful iphone application with all your criteria in it! If all goes well, you can get the app from the app store - free or may have a small purchase price.

The application will be built specifically for your needs/wants so get creative and rack your brains....what do you really want to know from your fav player?

Is it latest stats? Daily news, approaching events, top tips, players thoughts of the day, a voting system where you can share your thoughts and ideas directly with them???

Let us know and we will do our best to integrate this.

Thanks a million to the Demonland crew for allowing us to run with this. Thanks to you in advance for participating.

    High fives

  13. I felt like an absolute [censored] today. I wanted Mcmahon to kick that goal. I saw Melbourne fans walk out in dusgust when Ricky nailed that goal with less than 2 minutes to go and fans celebrating like we had won a flag after Mcmahon kicked the goal. Then I saw the players looking totally gutted laying on the ground and I thought to myself how can I possibly want my team to lose.

The priority pick has got to go! Clearly on todays performance, the players do not tank, but Bailey tanked like his llife depended on it today. At one stage we had Spencer, Miller , Jetta and Bate in the middle (look out fab four). Then Grimes n Cheney had a crack! I particularly liked Dunn(tagger) on Jackson(tagger) early in the 1st quarter. Warnock in the forwardline was a masterstroke as was Juice Newton in defence.

However, all I can say is, well done Bails. We didnt make the stupid rule, but we would be jeopardising our tilt at the flag in 3 years time if we didnt milk it for all it is worth today.

  14. Its clear that West Coast is tanking.

    Pavlich left to run riot.

They will not win another game this year. Zero effort from them today particularly when the game was up for grabs. They are a chance for picks 1 and 2 if we win 2 more games

  15. Well, well, well. Interesting. I wonder if Jurrah will play this week.:P

Hmmm, surely Davey must have a bit of general soreness by now. Been runnin` all over the place! By the way, anyone else notice he started in the forward line against the cats, where the ball barely made it with that howling wind! I like the way DB is thinkin!

  16. Yep, I agree. The start to his year, from about Round 1 to 5 or 6 wasn't great, but since then, he's been regularly kicking goals. He seems to have developed a little bit of footy smarts too. I thought his thought process was slow last year and his decision making therefore poor, but this year, he seems to be making less mistakes and hopefully that continues. He's also improved his set shot, out of sight this year. IMO, he was a bet shot on the run last year, but now I believe he's better from a set shot. But to be honest, I'd back him from almost anywhere on the 'G.

I've been very impressed with Grimes' development and improvement. While, Morton has come on leaps and bounds. With another 30 or 40 games under both their belts, they'll be great players.

Meesen also showed something, but more impressively, Jamar has easily been our best ruckman. He's even been taking pack marks!

Frawley easily! Bate, was playing very good footy 2 years ago, had an ordinary year last year and the start of this year but has stepped back up in the past 5 or 6 weeks. For me I can`t say he has improved when he has simply got back to what we know he can do and IMO can still do better yet!

Chip on the other hand barely raised a yelp last year and looked totally out of his depth. He has totally transformed this year, bulked up, and now takes on his opponent on a regular basis. Great to see his progression after thinking he just might not make it!

Sylvia deserevs a mention. Has been fantastic this year
