  1. Ok, I'm awake......check morning shower.....check shave......check s-@t..... might save that till half time coffee.....check breakfast......check all good. Time to watch the footy.... go Dees
  2. Good team and good depth to make sure those that play know they have others ready to step up. it is a concern that Brayshaw has not been named in the Casey side for this weekend. I hope that the club is just being super conservative and looking after the kid's long term future.
  3. Loved when he took a mark inside the 50, loved that Petracca broke quickly towards goal and loved that Oliver did not hesitate to honour the run and delivered a beautifully weighted kick to him for a goal. Great combination I want to see more of.
  4. Someone explained to Goody that the goat photos that were passed down to Melksham showed the Rev and not him.
  5. B: Michael Hibberd, Tom McDonald, Neville Jetta HB: Jayden Hunt, Sam Frost, Jordan Lewis C: Nathan Jones, Clayton Oliver, Tom Bugg HF: Christian Petracca, Jack Watts, Mitch Hannan F: Jeff Garlett, Jesse Hogan, Jay Kennedy-Harris Foll: Cam Pedersen, Bernie Vince, Jack Viney I/C (from): Christian Salem, Dom Tyson, Billy Stretch, Dean Kent, Alex Neal-Bullen, Oscar McDonald, Josh Wagner This is a good team and I, for one, could not argue with the elections. Bugg and JKH back up for a second game and the structure of the 7 man interchange makes sure they understand that there are quality options available to the selector if they do not do as required. Take any three out of the I/C and add to them the critical injured players such as Gawn, Brayshaw, Joel Smith, Spencer and VDB and we have serious depth to play with. (,,,....:::;;;; place as required above)
  6. Will be interesting to see who makes the cut on the interchange. Salem - he is too good not to have in the team Tyson - he gets too much of the ball to leave out. Oscar McDonald - I believe he was very good last week. did his job and I did not notice too many clangers. it may be between he and Wagner. his selection could hinge on the way want to play his Brother in this game. Wagner - I am a fan of the way he plays and i could see him replacing Melksham and/or OMac Stretch, Kent and ANB may be fighting for the last bench spot. For mine, Salem, Tyson Wagner and Stretch
  7. This kid is the best I have seen in over 50 years of following the MFC ( fully acknowledge that only been a semi intelligent footy follower for the last 30). He Has such a quick footy brain. Once his team mates learn to play off him we will be a much better team.
  8. Judd has to realise that there are different strokes for different folks. One of the great things about Aussie Rules is that all different body types can play the game, and play it on their own terms. Jones is smart enough to know what he can and can't do. He is an MFC champion and I am immensely grateful that we have him at the club.
  9. I feel that Viney's second half should be noted. He showed some of his form from last year. His fight to get the ball out to Oliver for TMac's goal seemed to set him alight in the third quarter. Want to see more of that.
  10. Given some of the decisions by the umps today it would not surprise me if they gave Daniher the 3 votes. After all he did kick that wonderful goal at the second attempt.
  11. I see he is in the red and blue already
  12. Loved the coaching he got from Macca, I think it was, before his first game. He was told "See ball, Get ball". He has really taken it to heart. Not only does he see ball, get ball he also has added "deliver ball". Very simple really but he does it better than just about everyone else around him.
  13. I hope they sit down at selection with a blank sheet of paper and look at availability and how they want to play the game and then fill in the blanks. Midfield and rotations: Stretch, Salem - outside runners with Garlett and ANB/Bugg working through there at different times. Oliver, Viney, Jones, Tyson all spending time in the middle as required. Lewis, Kent, Petracca,Vince and Hunt to be rotated in and out of the midfield. Defence: Frost, TMac, Jetta and Hibberd KDP Hunt, Lewis, Jones and Vince all to be back there at times. Forwards: Hogan, Watts Petracca and Garlett. After his game last week I would like to fit Bugg in here. Pedersen in Ruck and OMac on the bench My team: Backs: Jetta, Frost, Hibberd HBacks: Hunt, TMac, Lewis Cen: Salem, Oliver, Stretch HF: Kent, Watts, Petracca F: Bugg, Hogan, Garlett IC: Tyson, Vince, ANB, OMac The other I would consider would be Keilty. He had a decent game at Casey last week. Our big problem is the ruck, of course. Pedersen, Watts, TMac, Frost and OMac could all be used there and I think should be used there depending on how the match ups are going and where in the ground the stoppages are. I would look at a tactic where we keep rotating the players in there to keep them as fresh as possible and to make sure that the opposition are kept off balance. This is where we can exploit the no more third man up. Imagine a stoppage in our defensive half just outside the 50. Two of the 5 above are around the stoppage. The opposition ruck raises a hand and the one of ours that is furtherest from him then nominates. What would happen then? The opposition ruck would then have to move to engage body on body or to allow our nominated ruck a run and jump at the ball. I am sure the footy department will be looking at all tactics to combat our perceived weakness in the ruck.
  14. I was disappointed with the result but not with the overall team effort put in by the players in the face of having two talls missing for a majority of the match. I was much more disappointed by the last two weeks than I was tonight. Very good games from Hibberd, Hunt and Oliver. With the injuries we have I can see that this may be a long season of what may have been.
  15. Weid a waste of space drop him to the development league. Hogan back. Hannan out for Smith. They owe him m one after dropping him to,keep Weid. Melksham out for Hibberd
  16. Suspensions and injuries have posed some interesting questions for the selection committee this week. Gawn out and Vince doubtful because of his toe and a forward line that is inexperienced and in need of some leadership. With Hogan out for another week I think we need to have Watts roaming the forward half as much as possible. I would look at that as his primary role. With Spencer in ruck I would also look at getting Pedersen in there if he is fit. Play him as a forward and relief ruck to ensure Watts is nearer to goal all the time. Wied to make way for Pedersen. Give him a couple of weeks at Casey and get him to earn a place back. Tim Smith to get another run. For Bernie I would Brayshaw back. The rest of the team I would leave as is. I liked what I saw on the weekend.
  17. Oliver quiet....is he being tagged?
  18. Bull to kick 5 and Etihad to be renamed 'The Chinashop'
  19. I thought it was Round 1 of the VFL this weekend. don't Casey play Frankston this Saturday evening?
  20. Will be interesting to see how they line up in the middle. Bernie to get first crack at Danger? or maybe they will put him on Selwood at the start. I would give Harmes a crack at running with Selwood first off. if he does the job it would give us a couple of quality free runners.
  21. It will make it interesting if Tim finds his feet in the team over the next couple of weeks and kicks 3 or 4 in each game. Hogan is available and then we have to work out how to accommodate all the riches. Good luck Tim and give it a real shot.
