  2. Sorry SWYL, but that's not the case. Foschini was aged just 17 in 1981 when he kicked three goals on his league debut for South Melbourne against Hawthorn and finished the season with 37 goals. The club relocated to Sydney the following year and Foschini, again playing as a forward, kicked 42 goals. Despite his success he was unhappy in Sydney and decided to return to his home state of Victoria in 1983, joining St Kilda. He however had not received a clearance to sign with St Kilda and as a result the issue went to court. In what was a high-profile case at the time, Foschini argued that the VFL's clearance rules breached restraint of trade laws. He won the case and was allowed to play for St Kilda, in doing so helping to abolish the zoning system from the league.
  3. No, it wasn't 'Hi Ho' - he changed clubs during the off season. It's bugging me now. I just looked up Russell Greene and Michael Byrne and it wasn't them either.
  4. I'm sure there was a player who was traded mid-season back in the early 80s who ended up playing against the same opponents two weeks in a row.
  5. What do these numbers represent, if you don't mind me asking?

  7. Posted this earlier, but we beat them by 74 points only last year.
  8. I went with a Fitzroy-supporting mate. He was driving. We had to stay until the end.

Love the banners. Make sure you always do a spellcheck, though.
  10. I reckon that's right, but it doesn't always work that way. My old man was a die-hard Collingwood fan who fathered four sons, all of whom barrack for other teams despite his best efforts and to his eternal disappointment. Mum had no interest in footy at all. A cousin played a handful of games for Essendon but none of us care for the Bombers to put it mildly.
  11. It might be time to resurrect this thread from last year.

  13. Unfortunately, that particular part of his body has always been his Achilles' heel.
  14. Well, der. Vacob dan Rooyen, of course. I want to know who this Jordan McVee guy is.
  15. He signed a contract extension until the end of 2025. It's a bit early for the "is he going home?" angst.
  16. Here's one I quickly whipped up with my graphic design consultant, G. Oogle.
  17. With Kozzy playing more as a midfielder this year, replacing a small forward isn't really like for like.
  18. It's the same principle as 7-11 stores, where things that would usually cost you $7 are sold for $11.
  19. Pickett, Spargo and Chandler all played in round one. There's room for the three of them. Chandler is playing far too well to be dropped. Not sure who goes out, all the same.
  20. You could probably write a book about your wonderful experience on Sunday, Mr. Hemingway. Suggested title: "The Old Man And The G".
  21. I wouldn't think so. The umpires confer at the end of the game to decide the 3, 2, 1. It's been that way with two and three umpires and I doubt it would change with an extra umpire.
  22. Not literally, I trust.
