Picket Fence Match Report Dees Vs North Casey Fields 24/2/2022
Demonstone replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
We won the penultimate in 1988 and 2000 by winning the Preliminary Final. We didn't win the ULTIMATE until 2021 after 57 years of failure. Love your work, Picket! Don't let a pedant like me restrict your creative output. Incidentally, you'll be thrilled to hear that I bought a new t-shirt this week.- 29 replies

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs North Melbourne
Demonstone replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
$100 used to be a silverfish or a grey nurse, but they went and changed the colour of the note. -
How many times have you watched the replay?
Demonstone replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
Have you tried watching it sober? -
Ineligible, chook. He played in a premiership side.
-
Stay Angus!
-
If Jimmy Stynes was to play, whose spot would he take? Surely neither of Gawn or Jackson.
-
Played in a premiership with Carlton, alas. Like many others who have already posted, I couldn't go past R. Flower as my choice.
-
Despite him already taking out Ben King in a training "accident", nobody seems to suspect that he is subtly working undercover for his beloved Demons, to whom he shall surely return in a couple of years and become a star for us.
-
Nick Smith was the 426 man.
-
Cut the poor bloke some slack here. Ronny might have seen a picture of the black and blue Port Adelaide jumper and thought that University were still in the competition.

I wonder if Clive is aware of this. -
Why Luke Dunstan came to Melbourne
Demonstone replied to george_on_the_outer's topic in Melbourne Demons
After all this discussion about Luke Dunstan, I still haven't learned the most important piece of information. What is his nickname? -
Switkowski's stellar season consisted of twelve games for nine (count 'em, nine) goals so how can that possibly qualify him for the status of elite compared to other forwards? Their ratings are laughable.
-
* checks to see when we play Carlton ... and it's not until round 22. Oh well.
-
I don't know what their definition of "elite" is, but it's comical that they could include such plodders and no-names as Jeremy Finlayson, Sam Switkowski, Lincoln McCarthy, Zac Williams, Nick Hind and Dylan Moore. Jack Sinclair gets the nod but his team mate Jack Steele does not. The whole thing is risible.

Might you be thinking of round 23? We belted them all night in the Prelim. -

Have you tried treating them with a Moggydon tablet? -
I recently watched a documentary on marijuana. It's the best way to watch docos.

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Demonstone replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
9.10.64, Clint. Sounds like 1964 when you say it out loud. -
I've never understood people's fascination with golf but, then again, I wouldn't even know which end of the racquet you're supposed to hold.
-
Count again.
-
1. Sparrow has been cropped out of the image. He was behind Goody's left shoulder. 2. Salem's goal has been attributed to Nibbler. The AFL Record made the same mistake. 3. It ended up in the same place as the Bulldogs' hopes for a win.

More 300+ game players for the Demons?
Demonstone replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Watson, although selected in the 1992 pre-season draft, had retired and never went to West Coast. Sheedy lured him out of retirement in 1993, just in time to play in that year's premiership. He played his 300th in 1994, which was his last year at Essendon. My opinion on the topic raised in this thread is that the only statistic that really matters is winning flags. I've never heard any supporter boasting of how many 300 gamers they've had or how many Coleman Medallists have played for their team and, although "nice", it's not really that important. Team success is paramount IMO.- 27 replies

Best wishes to Walla and I hope things work out for the best for him. I just like watching him play. How many football players get a song written about them?
