  1. Thanks 'Chelly', I thought he at least trained with the bombers.

I think you were right he trained did pre season work used there weight rooms etc as they had already committed to him. Still played tac etc but was down at bomber land probably wasnt involved though as the bombers wanted to keep it hush hush and he wasnt only playing for them so it was a risk to show him the program

  2. When sheedy talked a out giving up pick one it was for a top five player at the club so shouldn't we have the same expectations

What about Martin... The 600k wouldn't bother use especially as out list is paid the same as Hawthorn

  3. The thread wasnt about the priority pick more roos saying he would trade 1 or 3 (subject to us getting them) for a ready made midfielder)

A few have scoffed at Cochin and jack which I agree with but why not have a shot... Judd left when he was captain

Who would of thought we would of got Clark not me

Who would of thought we would of got roos...not in a millions years

So why not try pry loose a superstar especially as we have the psd in our favour

  4. I find this all very interesting. My understanding from within the club (those who really care who can stroll through 177 pages and read my previous posts) is that Paul Roos has indicated to the club that he will be our coach next season. It is also my understanding that he has not yet signed. I know as a fact the Roos has been in communications with MFC since R2 and that despite what he has said publically has remained in communications with the club during this time. That's almost 6 months! I believe Paul Roos is a man of outstanding character, but it is clear from the charade that he is not speaking as absolutely and out-right honestly as he claims. For example it is a fact that he publically said he had no interest in coaching Melbourne whilst in discussions with PJ................. but knowing this he always left the door just a little open. As I have said before PJ and the board has always maintained confidence they would get their man.

The reason for the final delay is interesting. It could be Roos waiting for final confirmation of AFL assistance, it could be fine details on the structure of the club and his ultimate power, it could be family as stated (however I don't believe so), it could be a respect thing with Craig and the season that has been, it could be details on his contract. Nevertheless, I don't believe for one second that this master of the press would have knowingly rehashed this story if he was not intending to take the role.

All I am saying is don't take his words on face value, with Roos you need to read between the lines and the writing between the lines reads positively.

If he has been speaking to the club since round two wouldn't that indicate it was under the old administration???

That means schwab and don would of commenced this and pj finishing it off...

    Just saying

  5. In Paul roos article about melbournes side he stated he would trade pick 1 or 3 for the best available midfielder (assuming we got the priority pick which I feel will come into place)

    Who should we target??

    Swallow for pick 3 ??

    Fyfe for pick 3

Cotchin for pick 1 (I no wont happen)

I would try for kieren jack for pick 1

Interesting to see if it happens

I also really love the way Paul roos(yes I think he is a certainty) values picks... He goes through the last ten years of persons at that number and said would you prefer the traded player on the historical player now... Great way to work it out

  6. Terlich is far too loose, Balantyne is all over him. Can't kick....or find a target....not up to AFL standard .

Agreed but terlich isn't a lockdown player so why he is on Ballantine I have no idea

  7. I understand the difference between aerobic and anaerobic training methods... The reason I highlighted the comments was the suggestion by other clubs that we were not training for afl and our training techniques/methods were being questions

This obviously links into body shape and if the clubs is trying a different method as I believe both Watts and Moloney were told to lose weight from last season... Afl bodies were alot lighter seven years ago wonder if we are trying to head towards that model

  8. I always thought the fitness was below afl standard was an excuse for neeld to buy time... I can believe our list was young hence the standard base was lower but guys like jones and even green Moloney have been in the system and can't be that much lower... The previous fitness guy was from hawthorn bailey was from port they all understand afl standards

A recent article listed mfc fitness as an issue as other clubs had commented that we are doing all aerobic/long distance stuff and no power short burst work which is required for afl. They were interesting comments after the big deal that was made about our improved training

  9. Fitz is a fwd who can ruck rather than someone like gawn who is a ruckman that they send fwd... Hopefully he can keep it up but with the rule changes to a interchange cap he has a position created for him by the afl

  10. I was trying to enter into a business relationship with the footy club that was 99% to the benefit of the MFC, and let me tell you, they are impossible to deal with. Our family are Foundation Heroes and we have sponsored players, and dealing with the club is like dealing with an amateur theatre company.

I think that we have been so mediocre for so long, it's heard to see a way out.

What these sponsors say would not surprise me one bit.

I will say, what we are good at is we generally run professional functions and our players are incredible accessible, even relative to other clubs.

Was super disappointed after ceasing my player sponsorship (and that doesn't include how poor the mfc were during the last year of sponsorship were I provided feedback that they just assumed we would pay because of our love for club rather than establishing a relationship with anyone ) ... I told them due to personal circumstances I would most likely not be able to continue with an Elite Player sponsorship.... Amazingly not one call to attempt to sell me a membership, a lower level player sponsorship or push me towards young/future demons... In sales I'm referred to as a hot source and if you aren't calling persons like me you have absolutely no idea

hence why we lost 000s of members every year

  11. I think Milne can consider himself to be a very very luck guy.... He had internal vic pol help 9 years ago which resulted in him not being charged... If that had not occurred he would of been charged in 2004 and on the ex player scrap heap no later than 2005

He has been able to earn a very very good wage (well above the normal person) for the past eight years so should thank his lucky stars

  12. By the look of it schwab wanted the rocket up the senior players after there attempt to oust him... He gave mark neeld that agenda to rocket the senior players and the history turned the players against him...

  13. I wanted chocco but mainly because of ports dominate period and a flag but god I may have flipped after some remarks from roos... He said on the couch I would go for eade as he coached me and I learnt everything I know off him... Just thinking about it if we want roos so much eade should probably be in front

  14. It did show what he was trying to do with culture but missed the mark

I think the captain one was a good example he had ten behaviours they were rated on and trenners and grimes were the standouts but it demonstrates small time thinking being an afl captain is about behaviours but its inly half of it and the other way wasnt rated what about advice to other players, holding the group to standards, media commitments etc etc

  15. I have posted a few cracks at neeld as I thought he was a poor coach but he was all class

He did a few things wrong without a doubt but he did what schwab and McCardy wanted and was tasked with... He took a long term approach sadly they all got the flick so he just took a chance and missed the opportunity

  16. Damn people aren't that stupid are they???

He was signed for two years because he took the bullet for Melbourne as the whole admin tanked but only one person was suspended... It was a thanks for taking one for the team

But with the same admin gone the afl was happy to pay out cuddles contract as part of the hand out as they know they tanked but couldn't prove it this just got him out of the industry...

Although cuddles was in a commercial role not a football role which he hasnt been for two years... Saying this I seriously wonder about some of the contracts for ex players in admin commercial roles as I doubt there payment equals there commercial experience

  17. no, he's saying Beamer was not voted In, by the players... missed out on selection & leadership group.

And I was saying he was wrong the players didn't vote out green davey Beamer and rivers from the leadership group especially as all those players were votes in the year before
