New Rules For AFL 2026 - All SEVEN of ‘em!
If they are set on reducing delays in the game (which a lot of these changes seem to be addressing), an obvious thing they haven't changed is the resetting of the 30 second countdown clock for repeated goal attempts. I hate this rule as it currently stands. The number of times someone milks the clock at the end of a close game when they have a set shot opportunity from outside 50 m that they then pass off to someone else. I say if you pass it off, the 30 second clock should not be reset so say player A uses 20 seconds of the countdown clock then passes to player B. Player B would then only have 10 seconds to take the shot on goal. I guess this rule could have potential consequences though if you milked the clock for the full 30 seconds and then hoiked a high ball into the hotspot that was marked by your teammate who than has to essentially play on immediately. Probably would be a bit farcical. Much like most of the AFL rule changes.

Realistic 23 for 2026
Salem is now reminding me of Jordan Lewis in his last few seasons with us. Decent with ball in hand, but slow and unaccountable when we don't have it. Heaven help him when he gets caught chasing back players like Charlie Cameron or Isaak Rankine when we turn it over.

Realistic 23 for 2026
FB: Petty May Bowey HB: CJ Lever Rivers C: Langdon Viney Windsor HF: Pickett Turner Fritsch FF: Melksham Mihocek Chandler FOLL: Gawn Steele Langford INT: JVR, Culley, Lindsay, Tholstrup, Sparrow EMG: TMac, Heath, Salem No disrespect to Salem, but if we don't have someone taking over his small running defender role this season that's a real concern. He's cooked. My take on the 5th bench position is that it should be a running player, not a 2nd ruck. I'd put Pickett in at centre ball ups instead of Viney, Steele or Langford then straight down to the forward line for him. I like Turner up forward, booming kick and pretty accurate but if that doesn't work out then May gets dropped, send Turner to the backline and promote Heath, Tmac (I still rate him a much better forward than he is a defender), Kentfield or Jefferson.

NON-MFC: Trade Week
The AFL is rigged, why do we bother with it anymore with this level of corruption?

Farewell Christian Petracca
According to ChatGPT, we should be getting Picks 6, 7 & 13 (or 16) in exchange for Petracca.
