Meanwhile, Casey’s hopes of making the top four are evaporating. They depend on one of the teams above them losing one or two games and of course, winning all of their remaining games. I was hoping the Brisbane Lions might lose to top side Gold Coast at Carrara but late in the first quarter they were 40 points up on the Suns.

The day that lives on in infamy …

On a happier note, we did get up to beat Essendon on the following Saturday. Robert Walters kicked nine goals. -

I just have this feeling that Carlton will win tonight.

Jayden Short failed to come up for Richmond which is a win for us as far as I’m concerned.
-
An interesting “in” ~ K. Brown, son of Doggy Casey has had some torrid clashes against the Seagulls in recent years so it needs to be at full strength. This team looks quite strong to me.

I reckon Millie gets four weeks for the strike in the last round. Deliberate, high contact and high impact.
-
Good fight but I’d like to see her playing footy in the future.
-
No mention of Jake Bowey who copped a knock in the game vs Adelaide which makes him favourite for the mystery injury for this week.
-
They just beat bottom three club Hawthorn with a last ditch effort late in the game. Yes, they are still aiming for the finals but I’m not convinced.

There were some gems involved in early Saturday morning viewing during the late 70s.

Some more mixed messaging to throw people off the scent?

Went out to dinner this evening and was told by one of the others in attendance that Melbourne is lucky to be in its current place because it should/could have easily have lost the last two games which it won by narrow margins (leaving aside the fact that previously it had also lost some games by narrow margins). The same person is in awe of Collingwood’s fantastic ability to win the close ones which is what “makes them such a great team”. Remarkable!
-
Surely it’s time to put Gunston in defence as a spare man?
-
Hawks doing well - they’re certainly not tanking!

As predicted by me exclusively on Tuesday in the injury thread, … “The scene is perfectly set for a couple of Mystery Injuries of the Week.” Harry Petty was down as a test and hasn’t come up but the real mystery is Blake Howes which is a pity because he was coming close to earning an AFL game.

AFL Under 18 Championships 2023

This is the All Australian Under 18 team from the recently completed championships ~ We will have done well if we can draft two players from this team plus Kynan Brown as a father son. -

AFL Draft 2023 Rankings: Gap between Reid and the rest closes as father-son guns boost prospects -
The scene is perfectly set for a couple of Mystery Injuries of the Week. As far as Clarrie is concerned, I don’t think the selectors will pick him unless they’re convinced by the medical team that he’s right to go. Given that we play North Melbourne in three weeks time, I can’t see that happening until after that game.

Here's a profile from rookie me central following Kalani White's selection in the 2023 AFL U16 All Australian Team Profile Centre Half Back: Kalani White Suns Academy | 197cm | 05/05/2007 One of six Suns Academy players in the All Australian side, White comes from good pedigree as the son of 1994 number one pick, Jeff White. That means he’s father-son eligible at Melbourne – though, not Fremantle – on top of his Gold Coast ties. White played at either end of the field and was an aerial asset, rising high for plenty of eye-catching marks and moving fluently as a tall and rangy key position prospect.

Wondering if you and the panel could analyse where Fremantle is at in terms of their final position to determine where the Luke Jackson draft picks land? I put the question to Siri and she replied, “I am not in a position to answer that question.” So much for artificial intelligence.
