Somebody please tell me there's a full moon tonight.

As long as Vlad makes money for the AFL the people who matter will always love him. Good governance doesn't matter in the rarified atmosphere which he inhabits.

Less than two weeks after the AFL national draft and one week after the rookie draft Belatedly Blues lose defender. Bad luck or a statement from Duigan to Malthouse?
-
Good luck to Aaron. He's embarking in the next phase of his football journey and, unlike C & B, I salute him for his contribution to the club. I note that he has one more Bluey Truscott Memorial Trophy at home in his cabinet than most posters on Demonland. There's no doubt that Aaron's career took a turn for the worst when he broke his foot in that fateful game against Hawthorn late in 2010 that robbed him of his greatest asset - his pace. We rarely saw him at his best after that and he was later embroiled in that awful controversy involving the Mifsud/Neeld racism allegations which, like many of the AFL's fiascos, was never satisfactorily resolved. He saw out the season and his contract with a patchy year in 2013 in which he showed some glimpses of his past self and I think both he and the club handled his final year well. The venture at Richmond VFL sounds interesting and just to add to the interest is the suggestion made overnight on twitter that Austin Wonaemirri could be joining him.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Whispering_Jack replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
The newspaper beat up we had to have from the Murdoch press after having been embarrassed by Fairfax almost from day one. The main story still has to play out and WADA won't accept cosy deals and cover ups. I suspect that the Bombers won't have the benefit of an intermediary to negotiate an outcome for them when that day happens. -
Melbourne turns to Roos after AFL Mediation

Thread's run it's race. Posters are asked not to post rumours of this nature unless there's more to go on than mere speculation. The OP could have been asked and would have been answered in any training thread or generically by asking how MC is progressing after his injury.

Rumours including those which turn out to be false are part and parcel of the AFL. Unfortunately, it's something we have to live with.

The fact that Carroll is no longer at Melbourne means we have no qualifiers at this stage for the off season hoon act award for 2013/4. Current leader board: ► St. Kilda - dwarf tossing (extra points for collective team effort) ► Gold Coast Suns - Campbell Brown smashing a team mates jaw ► Sydney Swans - Buddy's swathe of cringeworthy acts across two states ► Hawthorn - Josh Gibson for best international support act. Paul Roos has a lot to answer for. Gone are the days when we used to dominate this award in the days of Carroll, McLean, Sylvia, Jurrah & co.

Noticed in the paper that the Demons flogged Hawthorn Monash Uni to go into second place on the Premier District Cricket ladder just behind Carlton. Always enjoy seeing the Dees doing well.
-
That would be right. They're back home on Wednesday afternoon soon they'll be back in the same time some of those other clubs take just to travel to Arizona or wherever.

A HIGHWAY OF DEMONS - CHAPTER ELEVEN
Whispering_Jack replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can tell you that not much was exposed in those days. The lights went out before anyone could get even the most subliminal view and Henry Bolte's vice squad was waiting in the wings to arrest any punter who so much as salivated before they went out. -
A HIGHWAY OF DEMONS - CHAPTER ELEVEN

Close enough - musical is Hair and the song is Flesh Failures/Let the Sunshine In. That song (combo) and Frank Mills are sure to feature in a future episode. -

Anyone have a comment on James Harmes and whether he's quick or otherwise? -
A HIGHWAY OF DEMONS - CHAPTER ELEVEN
Whispering_Jack replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
No.Surprises me that nobody can pick this one. -
Surprised that it hasn't been tried before (or has it?) Leading Teams brought in to help Melbourne as Paul Roos tries to change culture at club
-
Sounds like a bungled attempt at imitating football's new douche bag - AFL star Lance Franklin 'runs amok' at swish bar

Well done Andy for maintaining the list in the OP. Great job!

From memory, he was a former Fremantle player. Nothing to see here, let's move on.

They can't but you would have to be naive to believe that no evidence has been taken to date. The Bombers' players and staff have been interviewed as have the chemist and the staff of the off ground clinic where the players were injected. That venue was under surveillance by the ACC during the time players were injected (according to a newspaper report). My guess is that the surveillance included wire taps and other recorded material which in combination with the waiver documents and player evidence (including one very public confession about taking what was believed to be AOD9604) might be very damaging evidence. Dank has been interviewed by the ACC as well as by Fairfax reporters Baker and McKenzie (one part of their interview has been published). What Dank revealed might be incriminating of players. There's a question about whether and how all of the evidence can be shared (more legislation might be required). Then there will come a day when ASADA calls on Dank to be interviewed and produce his documents. This thing has plenty of mileage in it. It's not right to think in terms of our own sovereign laws either. The AFL has formally accepted that WADA's laws are paramount which means that the burden of proof that applies is not the same as that which applies under our legal system. If ASADA is satisfied that players had banned substances administered then it can issue infraction notices. The AFL then makes the decision and there is no right of appeal to a court - only the Court of Arbitration in Sport. You can rest assured that WADA will not allow this to go away. Finally, unless the information comes from within the ASADA investigation then anyone claiming to know what the final outcome will be is blowing hot air.

Brown has now been suspended pending the outcome of the GCS investigation - Campbell Brown suspended by Gold Coast Suns

Dean Terlich - Good player or defensive liability?

I need to meditate over this for a while. -

Nice observation blistering. My suggestion is they go over to the athletics track at the back of Casey Fields and have a 1 v 1 footrace between Harmes and Jayden Hunt. Winner is declared officially quick. -
I think you'll find that if we improve in our ability to get our hands on the pill then we are likely to improve in a whole raft of other stats including the ones that count at the end of the day.
