Anyone for cricket?
What about a hand for one of country's most exciting young cricketers and a Demon by virtue of coming from the Melbourne Cricket Club - Glenn Maxwell.

On the other hand, Schwabbie's concentrating on lifting the spirits of the Age as Fairfax Media begins its slide into oblivion and the hands of a consortium led by Gina Rinehart, John Singleton and Mark Carnegie. With that lot in control, we can expect a substantial dumbing down of content (if that's at all possible) and several long time contributors and more staff should be gone by winter time. Here's our mention in what passes for our only local broadsheet these days thanks to the efforts of CS who surely deserves compliments for helping lift the MFC's public profile this year - http://www.theage.com.au/sport/demons-exorcised-in-mcg-overkill-20121228-2byr9.html'>Demons exorcised in MCG 'overkill. Thanks to Cam, we have now overtaken Collingwood in media coverage these days. Our sponsors must surely be delighted! However, I should add that the only thing missing when J Howe left the MCG on Boxing Day was his #38 jumper prominently displaying the sponsors' logos although given the manner of his departure, the logos might not have been visible under the red vest.

Because he's thrown away an absolute certain ton in the end with an unnecessary rush of blood for starters. I know that's his style but he does need to discipline himself a bit because he won't be able to do that sort of thing on the Ashes tour.

Vlad would have to go too because he endorsed everything we did during that period of time. Anderson's gone. Hamish is too vanilla. It looks like you and me Redleg. I know we can run the AFL and not only that I have a fantastic plan that will ensure that nobody tanks ever again. Wherever Melbourne finishes, it will automatically get first pick in the draft no matter how many games it wins. Problem solved.

You think that's strange? Let's not forget Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs admitted to tanking way back in the 1960s but were never investigated either. I was thinking about this very thing last night while dining out on mashed potatoes and quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of the whole thing. Billy used to say the AFL never believed him because, "Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy", but I'm waiting for the time when they sit up and decide to make it a blue day for Carlton supporters and investigate their club because Fev also admitted that Carlton tried not to win. For their selective dealing with this issue, I can only wish on the AFL an itchy case of poison ivy. Meanwhile, poor Billy is nowhere around and can probably be found somewhere over the rainbow. I still remember Sunbury and the good old days of the Aztecs and find it so ironical that last time I saw Billy, he was singing his favourite song, "I told the Brock".

The latest word on young Dale is that he commences his 9 month stint at the maximum security Port Phillip Prison on Tuesday. Despite the unlikelihood of him getting time off for good behaviour, this means he should still be able to participate in next year's draft combine but he has promised to fudge the results so that other clubs don't get wind of his natural athletic ability. Not good at that stuff and with my work commitments right up to and including Xmas Day I'm not going to be terribly reliable.

Siddle's 5fer in the circumstances of this test match demonstrate the folly of leaving him out of the 3rd Test v SA. The question now is whether we have enough ammunition to bowl SL out on the final day?

Anyone for cricket?
On a completely different note and in view of the Ponting retirement, the failure of any fresh batting talent to emerge in recent years, the abundance of injuries to our pace bowlers and the lack of class spinners available, my question is this: Who would you rather be today: Mickey Arthur or Mark Neeld?
