MATCH REPORT - THE LID IS BACK - LET'S KEEP IT ON
Whispering_Jack replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for yesterday's gift MFC but after so many years of abject failure I'm not exactly practiced in the art of keeping the lid on and my first test comes tonight when we go out for dinner and two of the people at the table will be Carlton supporters. How do I go about keeping the lid on? Do I mention yesterday's game at all or do I just feign ignorance about it and start a discussion on Donald Trump's latest escapades? -

JLT Round 2 vs. Carlton at Casey Fields
Whispering_Jack replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Club history made twice today. First Melbourne Football Club win at Casey Fields ... (in the AFLW) Second Melbourne Football Club win at Casey Fields ... (and first in the AFL) Other notable achievement -> Put an end to Carlton's season (well that's what one of their supporters just told me). -
Only kidding around. Normally put this meaningless ladder elsewhere but it seems appropriate for here and now - the live ladder:- Melbourne 2 - - 208 148 140.5 8 GWS Giants 1 - - 70 37 189.2 4 Gold Coast Suns 1 - - 81 57 142.1 4 Richmond 1 - - 92 73 126.0 4 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Collingwood 1 - - 105 94 111.7 4 Hawthorn 1 - - 98 94 104.3 4 North Melbourne 1 - - 65 63 103.3 4 St Kilda 1 - - 57 56 101.8 4 Port Adelaide - 1 - 56 57 98.2 0 Sydney Swans - 1 - 63 65 96.9 0 Geelong - 1 - 94 98 95.9 0 Western Bulldogs - 1 - 86 92 93.5 0 Essendon - 1 - 94 105 89.5 0 Adelaide - 1 - 73 92 79.3 0 Brisbane Lions - 1 - 57 81 70.4 0 Carlton - 1 - 62 116 53.4 0 West Coast Eagles - 1 - 37 70 52.9 0 -

I wouldn't exactly call having a 40 point lead in a game where you have that many players on the ground and on the bench a fade out. -

JLT Community Series - The Missing
Whispering_Jack replied to Hulett Packard III's topic in Melbourne Demons
Whilst it's not ideal for players to be missing during the preseason, there will still be plenty of opportunities to ease them back in. The Casey Demons have a long list of practice matches that should give players who haven't been used in the JLT Community Series some game time over the coming few weeks. -
Melbourne will be the first club to play its second game in this series with the game at Casey Fields this afternoon. Meanwhile, we've slipped out of the top 4:- GWS Giants 1 - - 70 37 189.2 4 Gold Coast Suns 1 - - 81 57 142.1 4 Richmond 1 - - 92 73 126.0 4 Collingwood 1 - - 105 94 111.7 4 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Melbourne 1 - - 92 86 107.0 4 Hawthorn 1 - - 98 94 104.3 4 North Melbourne 1 - - 65 63 103.3 4 St Kilda 1 - - 57 56 101.8 4 Port Adelaide - 1 - 56 57 98.2 0 Sydney Swans - 1 - 63 65 96.9 0 Geelong - 1 - 94 98 95.9 0 Western Bulldogs - 1 - 86 92 93.5 0 Essendon - 1 - 94 105 89.5 0 Adelaide - 1 - 73 92 79.3 0 Brisbane Lions - 1 - 57 81 70.4 0 West Coast Eagles - 1 - 37 70 52.9 0

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Whispering_Jack replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Just listened to the tape and don't understand the drama. Nothing new and it seems to me that it demonstrates that the AFL and the EFC were doing their level best to make a deal that would have circumvented the anti doping rules. -

Thanks everyone. Official word is that "livewire forward Jeff Garlett will also be sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury. “Scans showed a slight hamstring strain and Jeff will miss the next three to four weeks.” ~ Josh Mahoney

Despite the rain at the end I put it down as a success. Lots of people buying memberships, club apparel etc and the players (men and women) were there for photo opps, autographs. The kids were enjoying themselves. Briefly spoke with Michael Hibberd - he's hopeful of playing in next week's JLT game.
-
The queues here are long for every ride and every booth that has players and the lure of their autographs inside. Fortunately, the shortest queue is for the food.

Yes ... nearly 9.05 and they haven't opened the gate yet. Outrageous and on a par with the AFL Pass scandal.
