Yeah they could be more compelling than Buckley but can we convince them to apply?

Yes. The new coach might make us better and we could play finals but we won't be a serious contender with our current list. We're better off overhauling the list and going backwards for a while until we have a real chance of a premiership. Look how stacked Adelaide and Gold Coast are. That's who we'll be competing with in the next few years.

Very true. A lot of people thnk the new coach will solve our problems and we'll be playing finals soon but I don't think that's realistic. We need to overhaul the list before we can contend again.

How would Tom Morris know that the job is Buckley's if he wants it? Would someone of leaked it to him? He just seems very confident.

When potential coaches are interested in a coaching job they often give wishy-washy answers. Can't read too much into it.

Yes. We don't want the same coaching team that failed to win a premiership at Collingwood.

It's also possible that Buckley's assistants will have the same perceptions of the club and won't come along

Can't we give the job to a highly regarded assistant and bring in new assistants coaches like Collingwood did very successfully?

Please don't just hand the job to Buckley. Go through a proper process and see what other options are out there.

Longmire's a tricky one because he's a premiership coach but lost four grand finals which is a lot, but made five grand finals which is a lot.
