  1. Surely it's coincidence but Frawley, Shane Tuck and now Sellwood are casualties with close relatives who also played at the highest level. On top of that Brayshaw, Shaun Smith and Paddy McCartin all had to retire and all have family that played too. Of course there are other players such as Venables and Daniel Bell also badly impacted by head knocks. But it seems like so far there's some weird correlation between concussions and playing families - people I would say love AFL so much. Anyway RIP Sellwood. AFL shouldn't ruin lives. 😢
  2. Can't he catch up? Either do something at home, say if he has an exercise bike, or more realistically do a bit extra at the next few sessions? If you get a chance maybe ask one of the coaches/staff today.
  3. There'll always be players from remote communities that get so homesick that they can't stay (or can't stay in an interstate team). It's the rest that the AFL can do more for.
  4. You're slightly right. But didn't Brisbane lose their first 3 games last year? And isn't the Freo game a practice match?
  5. Just remember that for better or worse it's not what any person says or any price offered all that matters ultimately is results. I'd rather King tip us last and we come first than the other way round.
  6. Okay. I just know it'd be sad if all or most young indigenous players decided there were too many hassles to bother following through and playing in the AFL.
  7. Movements? Well let's just say they're all 'regular' guys.
  8. I was hearing that no Indigenous players were going to be in the most recent draft. Thankfully I guess that was wrong.
  9. Honestly I'm not sure why people want to lock their money away for something like 7 or 8 months on things like premiership and finals betting. I have bet on Melbourne before just a couple of times but I've never been compelled to automatically bet on them for the flag, finals or any particular game. I really don't know how many people are like this. I think I've read of one poster here betting on Melbourne to make the 8 and another to win the flag this season. Are there many others on here that always do? I would guess most on here are much keener fans than those among the general public. If most of us don't always bet on the year-long markets it's probably the case that a huge proportion of each supporter base don't either (and token 5 dollar bets are enough to satisfy the ones that do anyway) I suspect overall the punters that bet in the hundreds or thousands across each round are the main 'formers' of the current markets. I know in horse racing overall the markets are very accurate. It's probably the same with AFL matches too BUT less so with the current finals and flag markets (there's so many extra unknowns over summer). But they wouldn't be way off either and the bookies would be careful about having any team at prices much higher than they should be. Sorry, but a team's prices will be quite different from year to year and Gold Coast or Giants won't always be longer than Collingwood.
  10. Why did those good-for-nothings get a long weekend while we didn't? 😄
  11. I'm not fussed if Robbo is in the team or not. I just think Lyon was a much better player.
  12. Umm while I kinda agree with you even if Geelong got those few extra goals there's no guarantee they would have won the GF.

  14. Is that like for like? Didn't Lyon most years play higher up the ground leaving player such as Darren Bennett, Jakovich and Farmer to be the main forward. Who were the main forward during Robbo's years?
  15. So not the same with an All Australian nod? Were Frawley's other Melbourne years comparable to 2010. I can't remember.
  16. I thought more Jedi mind powers. "This is not the forward you want to be playing on."
  17. Please tell me she didn't marry into a family of Collingwood supporters! :)
  18. Hmm. Woewodin didn't make the team, did he? A Brownlow's more important than an All-Australian
  19. Calm down. Your 10 dollars is still in play. 😁
  20. What were the parameters for this team? Schwartz was a superstar at best but pre-2000s. Howe, and arguably Hogan, have been high class but moreso at other clubs. Jordan Lewis' career was very good too, but 95% of his reputation comes from deeds elsewhere. Just performances at 21st MFC vs players who were in the team this century would be two different matters
  21. And he should be marked down for his glorified karaoke career.
  22. Coach praise including that their fitness is obviously ramping up. :)
  23. If you weighed yourself 3 times in a day each number could be different. I'm pretty certain there was a heated argument on here hat I'm not gonna rekindle but I suspect that on top of shape and height being obvious the staff can make body measurements, record running times as well as things like vertical leap, notice if a player is now stronger in contests and so on. A scale doesn't pick any of this stuff up.
