Excellent news we need to hear early in the season. What a relief and more importantly, a prompt response from the media department. I have been sitting on the edge of my chair waiting to hear an update. Thank you.
  2. An excellent start by Jed Adams. Keep it up.
  3. The Gold Coast Suns have won 5 games at the MCG in total since their inception in 2011. The Suns MCG victims were Melbourne in 2013, 2014, Hawthorn in 2017, Collingwood in 2021 and Richmond in 2024. The last Suns win against Melbourne was in 2014. I believe we will win today by 12 points. Let's hope my prediction is correct.
  4. That was a brilliant post @dazzledavey36. I'm in stitches of laughter. The Melbourne players will be all over this big time.
  5. I would love to have Luke Jackson to come back and I'm sure he would love to be playing with Kozzie and Trent Rivers again. It would be a great reunion for our 2019 draft year. It's complicated with added layers to it. https://x.com/TheWestSport/status/1896154294564376946
  6. Jed Adams is returning back to the ground where he was recruited from South Mandurah (WA)/Peel Thunder (WAFL). I'm hoping Jed will play some quality game time on Sunday. Did anyone attend the training session at Rushton Park this morning.
  7. Alan Richardson was on SEN WA this morning with Tim Gossage and Scott Cummings. Judd McVee should be returning to the line up in round 2 or round 3 and is progressing well with his Rehabilitation Program.
  8. FULL TRANSCRIPT: Kozzie Pickett breaks his silence Reporter: Youā€™ve been linked to a move back to WA. There are reports around that you want to come to Freo and youā€™ve already been texting some boys. What do you make of those reports and do you want to head back to Perth? KP: ā€œIā€™ve got friends. Iā€™m allowed to talk to them I guess. Iā€™m contracted at Melbourne. Iā€™m having fun there and I love it at the club." Reporter: So thereā€™s no truth to the fact that you want to come to Perth? KP: ā€œIā€™m still contracted at Melbourne." Reporter: There was a rumour around that you were maybe trying to come back at the end of last yearā€™s trade period and that you were a bit homesick. Was that true as well? KP: ā€œBeing away in Melbourne, thereā€™s always a bit of homesickness but Iā€™m still contracted and I have to do my time there." Reporter: Can you take us inside that conversation you had with Simon Goodwin and speaking a bit about that homesickness? KP: ā€œWe always have open and honest conversations. To be able to express myself and express my homesickness as a part of that relationships means weā€™re pretty close." Reporter: So those text messages to your friends, have you expressed a desire to specifically come and play for Fremantle? KP: ā€œI just text like general friends. Iā€™m pretty close with some of them." Reporter: Thereā€™s been a few social media posts about a potential move to Fremantle that accounts linked to your name have liked and been associated with. Do they belong to you? AFL spokesperson: ā€œI think heā€™s already answered that one.ā€
  9. Has Will Verrall returned to training. I haven't seen for the past fortnight.
  10. Peter Walsh. Very Easy
  11. We will finish 5th and Fremantle will finish 4th. Brisbane and GWS Grand Final. There are no excuses, and we have a great draw playing North Melbourne and West Coast twice. Harvey Langford to win the Rising Star award.
  12. From The West West Australian Melbourne forward Kysaiah Pickett likes series of social media posts linking him to Fremantle Melbourne star Kysaiah Pickett has liked a series of social media posts linking him to Fremantle as he does little to calm reports he is all but certain to end up in purple after the 2025 season. The West Australian revealed earlier this month the homesick forward was desperate to return to his home state, with one close sources stating ā€œa lot would have to go wrongā€ for him to not end up a Docker. A Fremantle insider also told this newspaper signing him was currently one of their highest priorities. It comes after he was linked to a move to the club in the 2024 trade period, with no deal being tabled. And just days after the bombshell report, Pickett has liked a number of posts across Facebook and Instagram that link him to the Dockers. The most recent came on Friday, when he liked a comment by a Fremantle fan page on Facebook that stated his cousin Isiah Dudley joining the side as a train-on was all part of the plan to lure him west. The comment also stated that Pickett was close friends with superstar Richmond recruit Shai Bolton and Port Adelaide pick-up Quinton Narkle. ā€œHe is Kozzy Pickettā€™s cousin. Bolton and (Quinton) Narkle are Kozzyā€™s best mates. All part of the plan baby!ā€ a post from the Flagmantle account read. Pickett has also liked an Instagram post by another Dockers fan account that quoted The Gettable podcast, who reported the Demon was interested in joining the club right up until the end of last yearā€™s trade period. The 23-year-old follows a long list of Fremantle players, including Bolton, Narkle, veteran Michael Walters, vice-captain Caleb Serong, defender Jordan Clark, former teammate Luke Jackson and young gun Hayden Young on Instagram. Fremantle players will get their chance to pitch a move to Pickett next month when the electric forward suits up for the star-powered Indigenous All Stars at Optus Stadium, with Caleb Serong saying the Demon was a ā€œspecial playerā€. Loading Instagram Post ā€œHeā€™s an incredible player and a special player,ā€ he said. ā€œItā€™s something that weā€™re really proud of, to be a club and place that players want to come to, but we donā€™t see it from that point-of-view. ā€œWeā€™ve got a lot of guys that just love coming to work, love being a part of what weā€™re building and if that extends out to other players at other clubs seeing that as a place they want to come to, then thatā€™s amazing. ā€œItā€™s just something that weā€™ve built. We want to build an environment where people want to come to work, love competing, and love getting better. ā€œIf that shows around the league, then thatā€™s great.ā€

This is the article from Code Sports Jay Clark and Paul Amy dated 23.1.2025. Melbourne has reached out to Essendon legend James Hird as part of its search for a new chief executive. The firm leading the search for Gary Pertā€™s replacement told the club it contacted Hird about any recommendations he may have for the position. The Demons are keen to begin assessing a shortlist of candidates next month. NBL chief executive David Stevenson, who had stints at the AFL and Western Bulldogs, is considered a candidate. But the contact with Hird is intriguing as the Essendon champion is highly-rated for his business acumen and football knowledge. Hird, 51, was one of Essendonā€™s greatest players and coached the club for four seasons before he departed on the back of the Bombersā€™ crippling supplement saga in 2015. But the two-time premiership player, superstar captain and five-time best-and-fairest winner has moved past the crisis and has continued to enhance his reputation in the business world. The former senior coach is the founder and managing director of Euree Asset Management and the co-founder and non-executive director of Tenka Group, a worldwide sports consultancy. Hird has also returned to the coachā€™s box as coaching director of Port Melbourne in the VFL alongside former Western Bulldogsā€™ senior coach and three-time Catsā€™ assistant premiership coach Brendan McCartney. Hird remains friends with Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin from their time together at Essendon between 2011 and 2014. The Demons are keen to land a first-class replacement for Pert as the club attempts to bounce back into the eight and find a new home base at Caulfield Racecourse.
  14. We hold all the Ace cards with Kozzie Pickett is contracted until the end of 2027, period. If we do decide to entertain the trade for Kozzie at the end of the 2025 season. I can assure you we will be asking significant draft capital in return with nothing coming back to them. What really annoys me, Fremantle had three early first draft selections in 2019 to draft Kozzie. Liam Henry was preferred for Fremantle and has not performed to the expectations of a number 10 draft pick. However, I am sure that Matt Whelan will be working closely with Kozzie behind the scenes to ensure he stays with us. Players like Kozzie Pickett and Cyril Rioli donā€™t come around very often. However, Geelong did so well to get Tyson Stengle (Free hit) and has kicked 126 goals in his last three seasons. If you review Fremantle's recent trade history, Fremantle gave away significant draft capital for Luke Jackson 2 first rounds and an early second round pick at the end of 2022. Fremantle gave away 3 First round picks for Shai Bolton for a player that Richmond did not want and off their salary cap. Cam McCarthy, Harley Bennell, Nathan Wilson, Rory Lobb, Jesse Hogan. None of them (Cam McCarthy, Harley Bennell, Nathan Wilson, Rory Lobb, Jesse Hogan) were the same player once they got to Fremantle.
  15. Paul Amy has written an article on Code Sports entitled - Game on: VFL stand-alones carnival set down for Saturday, March 1. In it, he updates Caseyā€™s recruiting news with yet another signing for the club:- CASEY DEMONS have signed Leongatha forward Jenson Garnham, who booted 53 goals last season and was named at full-forward in the Gippsland league team of the year. Garnham also kicked 52 goals in the Gathaā€™s 2023 premiership season. He had played with Gippsland Power in 2022. Leongatha coach Trent McMicking said Garnham was an exciting prospect. ā€œIā€™m not sure where the limit is for him. I donā€™t know how good he can be,ā€™ā€™ he said. ā€œHe attacks the footy hard, heā€™s a really good mark and heā€™s a neat kick for goal. He has a basketball background and he didnā€™t really play much footy until he was 16, 17. ā€œHeā€™s super-raw but heā€™s got plenty of ability.ā€™ā€™ New Leongatha signing Patrick Ireland, who kicked a century of goals for Buln Buln last season, has also signed at Casey. The Demons have also secured Noah Yze, the son of Richmond AFL coach Adem. The 19-year-old forward and midfielder played two games for Casey last year, as well as 11 for Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates Talent League.
