Re: the conversation about what changed this week—I feel like it wasn’t so much that our players intentionally weren’t putting in the effort or weren’t buying in to Goody’s plan in the previous games, it’s that they were confused by the gameplan and became more and more demoralised as it continued to not work. 5 weeks of reviewing their failures and mistakes is what has led to so many finally getting it. In other words, they had the same growing pains other clubs do when they implement something new—as others here had predicted using the Hawthorn and Brisbane examples. The talk of Goody “losing” the players was rubbish.

No Lever no May no McVee. Petty up forward. Disco concussion. It was certainly not perfect but I’m not gonna complain about our rag tag group keeping their prolific scorers under 100.

Max was an absolute brick wall in the 4th. Felt like the good old days.

Have lived all over the world and have never seen a sport as poorly officiated.

Xander McGuire being a sideline “reporter” this year remains just an awe inspiring display of nepotism.

“1 lousy flag” has to make it into the Demonland “hot takes” Hall of Fame. I’m having a good chuckle to myself imagining demons supporters crying tears of joy after waiting a lifetime to see the Dees make it to the pinnacle of the sport and you’re just like “who cares it’s one lousy flag!”

I like the changes.

Yeah I’m in the same boat. I want to believe this is the (horrific) “growing pains” of a new gameplan that we can see glimpses of occasionally. But then I go back to the fact that so many of the players don’t seem to be giving much effort...which can’t be explained away by “growing pains.”

I appreciated that he came out and said something. Rather have that than silence. However I did have to laugh that we are such a bin fire that it’s only 5 games into the season and we’ve already gotten a “don’t panic!” letter.

You know things are going really well when you get a Monday morning letter from the club’s interim president trying to provide reassurances. 😆
