  1. I understand what you’re saying Binners. To me your argument boils down to the fact that he’s being asked to play a different position… As your second point above indicates that we’ve been a high pressure team since 2021 of which Fritta was a part, just playing a different role. I’m prepared to give him time to learn his new job, knowing that he can kick goals. Reference his omission and subsequent call up… It’s Goody’s game plan. If Goody thinks that Fritsch is suitable to slot in the side then I’ll back that.
  2. I dunno fellas. There have always been players that apply manic pressure and those that are more outside players. I’d much prefer the ball in Fritta’s hands kicking for goal than pretty much anyone on the team. For example, Tracc is not a reliable snap for goal… Even after all the pressure he applies. Ultimately we may have to accept that Fritta is not a high pressure player and his role - as defined by the coaches - is kicking goals… Could explain why he burned Spargs in the last. Who knows… But you have to kick a score to win… And without him I’m not sure there’s enough goal kickers on the list.
  3. The 3rd quarter goal in the GF he kicked from the centre clearance, crumbing off the back of the pack to get us back in the game is one of my favourite Dees moments ever. Gives me shivers watching it. A bit of humility and empathy goes a long way.
  4. Great win. 3rd quarter epic. Boys took their foot off the pedal in the last. It was obvious. Junk time goals for Richmond. Teams have done it to us in the past and we’ve called it out. Shouldn’t be any different when we’re in the lead. Go Dees.
  5. I’m 48. I was there in 1988 and 2000… And the Neeld era. But I’ve never been so depressed as an MFC supporter… Maybe my age is showing. I’ve been on the fence but I think I’m on the ā€œmove Goody onā€ train. Too much talent out on the park to be playing this badly. FWIW… I think the lads had a good crack.
  6. I reckon Clarry matched him for pace. Just couldn’t catch him. Rowell got a head start which gave him a meter. Also ran too far.
  7. Is it possible that we’ve lost focus in the midfield by rotating too many players through? I know we need more than just Trac, Clarry and Vines but the more time others get in there the less our bulls keep their currency. Also noticed a lack of outside mid co-ordination… Suns were good at holding space outside stoppage… Not so much us.
  8. 9 pages in and as far as I can see everyone is in fierce agreement. P.S. Not sure that’s the correct use of sycophant.
  9. I remember clear as day the final round of 2021 when we were 40 odd points down. As soon as Geelong started chipping it around I knew we’d win it. Now apparently chipping it around the back half is the game plan of choice… Confusing.
  10. I'm by no means all over this thread... But listening to that, and reading between the lines it sounds like he wanted to go home to Victoria and the Dees provided an avenue for him to pursue this idea further. He was then floated around to other clubs and we know what happened... Why wouldn't you want to go to Collingwood? In my opinion, he is using the unrest at the Dees to hide a lack of honesty throughout the process.
  11. Never thought I’d have to barrack for Geelong.
  12. Never thought I’d have to barrack for Geelong.
  13. Hogan… One of the best marking games I’ve seen.
  14. Ever notice how Zorko just can’t take a hit. Always has to give one back… Has no humility for the contest.
  15. Grew up in Ringwood. Land of John Farnham, Pat Cash and more recently Kevin Sheedy (according to my mother who still resides). Made even more famous by the school I attended which has recently displayed a prowess in the use of spreadsheets… Not their finest moment. In better news I watched the 2021 Grand Final this arvo… Great way to put this nonsense behind.
  16. I wouldn’t want to say. The player was on our list at the time and giving his time post season to the local footy club. As a father of young kids I loved chatting to his Dad about what it’s like to have a child playing AFL… I can’t wait to live vicariously through my kid’s success šŸ˜‰.
  17. At the end of 2020 I had the pleasure of chatting to the father of a player who is now on another list. He didn't have great things to say about the communication within the club between the coach and players... Wasn't too scathing but definitely wasn't complimentary. At the time I was a little concerned but then 2021 happened. I think footy clubs are big places... Lots of players, lots of coaches, lots of family. There are always going to be issues happening... Most families are like that.
  18. Watching the fire in T-Mac last night made me feel like he could go around another year. Still really cares and is very experienced. Good mentor for the young fellas.
  19. I also liked Disco and Petty back. Imagine having another key forward we could get into the side.
  20. Lots to hate. Here’s one I liked… I remember a few years back a big change to Trac’s game was driving the legs out of stoppage… Just taking those few steps. Clarry followed suit a season later. Riv seems to do this naturally, and with time will improve a lot. He’s got the strength and will hopefully be a formidable midfielder in the upcoming seasons. Looks like Clarry does less of this… Maybe with more attention/close tag he’s feeling time compressed.
  21. First time poster, long term reader. I work with a yank who has got me into following the Edmonton Oilers... NHL. They started the season 2-9-1... Which is pretty bad. Yesterday they made the Stanley Cup. The starting 5 points was the fewest ever by a team to make the finals. The Captain (Connor McDavid) said this during the run of bad results: ā€œThe mental mistakes that keep costing us over and over again made us chase the game,ā€ said McDavid. ā€œIt is just death by a thousand cuts, that is what it feels like. One mistake and it costs us, and another little mistake and it just snowballs. It is tough to chase games.ā€ It was a good roster, but a bad team. They fired their coach (which I'm not advocating) and turned things around. They remind me a lot of the Dees of late. I have faith the fellas will get things moving. Maybe they need to go back to their DNA. I'm posting this more out of interest then anything else. Sport can be funny. Especially considering Mattiais Ekholm and Max seem to be separated at birth. Go Dees.
