Tell Geelong to [censored] off unless they can find two first round picks, and/or a gun young player. If they can't, come back next year. Keep Clarry instead of trading him for cheap.
  2. I have no idea of his coaching credentials but as a player and leader, ticks boxes.
  3. Ashcroft will likely go at pick 2. Brisbane will need 2014 draft points to bid on him after discounting. Let's say their academy player Marshall slides and gets bid on at 30. That's another 432 points needed after discounting. 2446 points needed. Brisbane will have 1228 points prior to trade and free agency so they'll need to find another 1218 points just for those two players... possibly more if Marshall gets an earlier bid or if Richmond bids on Ashcroft at #1. I'm honestly not sure how they get this done without giving up a lot of their 2025 draft capital, or trading someone out this year. As an example, our picks 37, 45, 50 and 61 are worth 1238 points. That would cover it, but only if we were trading them for 2025 picks. I assume Dylan Robertson will leave and they might get some points back there but will still be a long way off...
  4. I see comments like this a lot, but how many power forwards were available at the end of 2022? The talls that moved at the end of 2022 were Grundy, Schache, Weideman, Lobb, Frampton, McStay, Meek. There's hardly enough A grade or even B grade power forwards in the league around to have 1 at every club. The chances of picking one up in a trade are very slim. If we want to go with hindsight we would've been better off going after Karl Amon that year instead of trading for Hunter.
  5. Grundy lots of touches no impact. Jordon showing what he is, a bland player who doesn't do things that to win or turn games.
  6. Good player and good luck to him in whatever comes next, but from the perspective of our list management, this is a good result for the club and our fans. Another spot free for draftees or trade target.

Port are linked to Lukosius, Cumming and Perrymen. Currently they only hold picks 36 and 54 in the 2024 draft. Houston and Soldo have asked for trades but are no certainty to leave if they cant get it done. If we make a compelling offer, or if Lord firmly says he wants out, it may force Port's hand so they can get other deals done. Marshall, Lukosius and Georgiades is still a good set of tall forwards to have if they lose Lord.
  8. Hore and Tomlinson are both out of contract.
  9. I upgraded to Trident Open Air after 2018 with a big part of it being the GF guarantee, and I don't think I'll ever give it up because of the GF guarantee. Have heard too many horror stories of fans missing tickets.
  10. He never actually said this. The journo is writing it but it's not what Scott said at his press conference. I hate Scott and his excuses as much as anyone but in this case he didn't use it as an excuse.

Let's compare some key stats Owies and Fritsch in 2024. I'll throw Kade Chandler in there too. Kade Chandler: 12.4 disposals, 3.1 marks, 0.8 goals, 4.1 tackles, 20.1 pressure acts Bayley Fritsch: 9.5 disposals, 3.4 marks, 1.8 goals, 1.2 tackles, 8.3 pressure acts Matt Owies: 8.7 disposals, 2.9 marks, 1.4 goals, 2.3 tackles, 12.1 pressure acts Owies is right in the middle. Less goals than Fritsch but more pressure. More goals than Chandler but far less pressure. I would keep Fritsch every day of the week and ignore Owies. Of all positions on the ground, I think that small forwards would have the highest strike rate of being immediately impactful at AFL level after being drafted. Use a pick rather than trading one for Owies.

I wonder if we could give Marchbank a chance, perhaps as a rookie. Alternatively, keep a spot open in the list for the SSP and invite him to train with us. If Tomlinson leaves and we don't trade for another established KPD, then we absolutely stuffed for depth in that position.
  13. The last time I didn't watch a grand final was 2022. This year I might not even watch the prelims. Just no interest in any of the teams left.
  14. Sam Mitchell is a classic example. He had a very quick first step but generally lacked athleticism otherwise. Amazingly smart and tough football player though.
  15. Selling it short IMO. Closer to 70,000 would've been Melbourne - or 10,000 neutrals supporting us.
  16. Looks like they all signed 1 year deals. Happy to give all of them 1 more year. Makes sense to me. All five of them are young and have a bit of 'project player' about them. Gives us stacks of list flexibility if we suck in 2025 and need to rebuild at the end of next year.

I didn't even rate Macrae when he was making All-Australian teams. Acculmates but doesn't damage damage with his disposals. I've never watched a Dogs game and thought "geez Macrae has been good tonight". There were always other players with more impact.

Richmond would be silly not to give him a year or two, Daniel Cross type of role.
  19. What a weird career for Jake, but a very good career all things considered. Never quite found his spot at the Bombers. Went through the drugs saga then came to us, and was in much the same position until Goodwin put him forward of the ball, which was a masterstroke. In 2018 he was incredible. 32 goals and was one of the best i50 ball users in the league Then he regressed? Couldn't make it into the 2021 flag winning side. 2022 he looked done. 2023 had a late season resurgence, including that forever memorable goal against Brisbane, then unfortunately got injured. With the way he was playing, the injury took away a goal or two a game and may have cost us a shot at the flag. Will hit 250 games in 2025 if he plays every week.

Melbourne Football Club with a home base in Williamstown? Really? Sentimentality aside, the conditions for footy down there are regularly horrible. Worse than Casey.
  21. Unfortunately a review all but eliminates any shot at the flag next year imo. We need it, for the future, but it'll be harmful for 2025.
  22. O'Sullivan is an interesting one if injuries are holding him back from a higher rating. There have been others in a similar boat, Joel Selwood comes to mind, who slid a bit in the draft due to injuries which was amazing for the clubs that drafted them. Then there's players like Brodie Kemp who slipped in the draft due to injury, and while a solid contributor, he isn't the Bontempelli type some compared him to.
  23. Horrible defending by Sydney. Flashbacks to the days of Garland and Rivers spoiling each other.
  24. A lot of complaints about letting Harmes and Jordon go, but both have done absolutely nothing in the finals they've played. Don't care about a tagging role for Jordon, 5 touches and 1 tackle is [censored].
  25. This is actually a great piece of media timing by the club, credit to them. 4.30pm on a Friday in the middle of the first week of finals. There's no better time to sweep the news under the carpet. Media and fans are focussed on the Port debacle and the game tonight.
