  1. Wasn't able to watch the game - how was the umpiring?
  2. As I've commented before, that would be going too close to promoting the women's game. ๐Ÿ™„ How can they not schedule a final for Saturday night? I know this year there was technically no Sat. night game for the first week of the men's finals, but there was a game in Perth at 5:35pm local time, which meant 7:35pm east coast for broadcasting.
  3. I work part time, and not on Fridays, but even for me it's still an effort to attend. I feel for those who are working or studying.
  4. Yeah, to not even make the squad. But then when she won the competition goal kicking she could only make the bench. ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜
  5. Yeah, seems Chaplin came off after Kate's comments. Maybe good news that she didn't seem to receive any treatment or ice, perhaps just precautionary. I recall she was dealing with a bit of "hamstring awareness" in the preseason that they managed, so hopefully she'll be Ok to go on Sunday. Given Brisbane basically have a full list from which to choose (Cathy Svarc just won her appeal against her suspension), and if we are without Purcell, Chaplin and Goldrick I'd be pretty disappointed if I was a Lions fan and we couldn't win.
  6. I wonder when Maeve did the hammy? At today's press conference Kate said everyone had pulled up well from the Geelong game.
  7. Well I'm seriously hoping Goldie isn't playing next week - if she is it means we've lost this week! โ˜น๏ธ
  8. Yeah, Banno is a bit of a conundrum. Despite her height she's never really played as a true tall forward. Her pace was amazing and that's what really set her apart, along with being a dead eye dick shot for goal. But as has been noted here before she's definitely lost a yard or two (and she's started missing set shots she would have kicked in her sleep three years ago). So what role does she play? I had thought she was a more dangerous goal kicker playing up on the wing where she could run into the forward line and burn people off with her pace, rather than coming out to meet the ball as a set forward. But with her drop in speed I don't think that is viable anymore.
  9. Yeah, hopefully she'll be better for the run. Same with Lampy, needs to get up to speed now with Brisbane looming in a final.
  10. afl.com.au/aflwDemons star cleared of concussion after collision with te...Kate Hore has been cleared of concussion after Saturday's win over Geelong Phew. ๐Ÿ˜Œ
  11. Works the same as the men. Top four get the double chance.
  12. Yeah, for sale at our home games. ๐Ÿ™‚ I'd guess finals, too.
  13. Not to pee on Gemma's parade and congrats to her, but, upon admittedly quick reflection, she's the only player who comes to mind who has played as an out and out forward for the whole ten seasons of the comp. Others have retired, given her a few seasons head start, missed a significant number of games with injury, or been moved into the midfield. How long ago would Garner or Hore have kicked the ton if they'd remained as full time forwards?
  14. Interesting. I'm assuming if so it would not be a prelim or GF, and most likely the first week of the finals. If we finished second and were to play Hawthorn (but that would necessitate Brisbane failing to beat Collingwood which is unlikely) I'd be all for it as the Hawks have never played there. But if we were to play Brisbane, which is more likely, I don't think it would make much of a difference. From memory they actually have a winning record against us there, including the last two meetings. The other possibility is second week of finals, but that would mean we'd have to lose in Wk 1 so let's not think about that.
  15. I'm 61, could someone please translate this for me? ๐Ÿ˜
  16. They may be planning on adjudicating it differently with the men, but in the AFLW if it comes off a player's foot by any method it is deemed last disposal and they are penalized. ๐Ÿ™„
  17. I'm aware of two - he missed one trip to Perth for a game against Freo in 2021 to be with his wife when she was due to give birth, and one where he allowed Shae Sloane to take the reigns, I believe against Hawthorn in 2023.
  18. Yes, tell her we don't want her to go. ๐Ÿ˜
  19. But they are worth it. ๐Ÿ˜Š
  20. And for us suckers who travel down by public transport, train replacement buses from Westall to Cranbourne. ๐Ÿ˜
  21. Yay! Heater, S. Taylor and Lampy all back, and Tay, Goldy and Ryleigh fine after their scares! ๐Ÿ˜
  22. Do we have employee in the women's program whose job it is to smash mirrors/walk under ladders/encourage black cats to cross their path?
  23. If Tayla is right to go and Heater, Saraid and Lampy are all Ok this week that's a big jump forward. Then hopefully Blaithin and Georgia G next week and, providing no one else goes down, that's about as good as it will get this year. I'm assuming Beasley won't be back, I don't know if it would be wise to bring her in for finals having basically missed two seasons.
