  1. Slightly off topic, but just a thought that crossed my mind. If Carlton win tonight (and I know Brisbane are warm favourites) it will be the first time there have been two Victorian teams in the AFLW Grand Final. As such would the league consider playing the match at docklands? I’m pretty sure the reason they would say no is that docklands needs to attract a certain number of fans to break even due to its high running costs, and they don’t trust the AFLW Grand Final to reach that number. A bit of internet research has suggested that number is 20,000. However I assume that is based on a men’s home and away match, which has an adult ticket price of $27, whereas the cost of an adult ticket for the AFLW Grand Final is $35. As such the break even crowd for the women’s GF should be around 15,500. Given Princess Park has attracted over 12K of its supposed 13K capacity for the last two Grand Finals featuring a non-Victorian club, I would think there’s a fair chance you’d get your 15.5K for two Vic teams. Certainly enough of a chance to take the risk, I would think. If the AFL actually wanted to take the opportunity to maximize exposure for the biggest game of the AFLW season, of course. Oh, and it seems docklands is free next weekend.
  2. I've heard Shae Sloane is regarded as a candidate for the vacant coaching spots. If Mick leaves, will Shae be more inclined to stay and take our senior position?
  3. Sadly life has gotten in the way. ☹️ But if we are still alive next week............life will have to take a back seat.
  4. Will do everything in my power to be there!
  5. Yeah, I thought Denby was pretty good last week. Was a bit shaky in her first game back from injury a few weeks ago but she's gotten better with each game.
  6. Gee would love to have Liv Purcell available........
  7. GA is all we ever get!
  8. Thanks. I know that's where the "visitors" change rooms are, but I wasn't too sure if the general public is allowed into that area, it always seems so sparsely populated when I look across from the other side of the ground!
  9. Given North will be the "home" team, I'm assuming they will be in the Carlton rooms on the southern side of the ground. As such where will the Demon Army/our cheer squad be located? I'm thinking I probably won't sit in my usual Princess Park location as I'm not keen on dealing with the previously referenced feral North fans, and find the prospect of at least sitting near some decent, upstanding citizens decked out in red and blue much more appealing. 😇
  10. A few years ago when I used to check out the women's footy forums on BigFooty there were two groups of unpleasant posters. The misogynists who would just be there to hate on women's footy, and the North fans.
  11. Wasn't able to watch the game - how was the umpiring?
  12. As I've commented before, that would be going too close to promoting the women's game. 🙄 How can they not schedule a final for Saturday night? I know this year there was technically no Sat. night game for the first week of the men's finals, but there was a game in Perth at 5:35pm local time, which meant 7:35pm east coast for broadcasting.
  13. I work part time, and not on Fridays, but even for me it's still an effort to attend. I feel for those who are working or studying.
  14. Yeah, to not even make the squad. But then when she won the competition goal kicking she could only make the bench. 😕😠
  15. Yeah, seems Chaplin came off after Kate's comments. Maybe good news that she didn't seem to receive any treatment or ice, perhaps just precautionary. I recall she was dealing with a bit of "hamstring awareness" in the preseason that they managed, so hopefully she'll be Ok to go on Sunday. Given Brisbane basically have a full list from which to choose (Cathy Svarc just won her appeal against her suspension), and if we are without Purcell, Chaplin and Goldrick I'd be pretty disappointed if I was a Lions fan and we couldn't win.
  16. I wonder when Maeve did the hammy? At today's press conference Kate said everyone had pulled up well from the Geelong game.
  17. Well I'm seriously hoping Goldie isn't playing next week - if she is it means we've lost this week! ☹️
  18. Yeah, Banno is a bit of a conundrum. Despite her height she's never really played as a true tall forward. Her pace was amazing and that's what really set her apart, along with being a dead eye dick shot for goal. But as has been noted here before she's definitely lost a yard or two (and she's started missing set shots she would have kicked in her sleep three years ago). So what role does she play? I had thought she was a more dangerous goal kicker playing up on the wing where she could run into the forward line and burn people off with her pace, rather than coming out to meet the ball as a set forward. But with her drop in speed I don't think that is viable anymore.
  19. Yeah, hopefully she'll be better for the run. Same with Lampy, needs to get up to speed now with Brisbane looming in a final.
  20. afl.com.au/aflwDemons star cleared of concussion after collision with te...Kate Hore has been cleared of concussion after Saturday's win over Geelong Phew. 😌
  21. Works the same as the men. Top four get the double chance.
  22. Yeah, for sale at our home games. 🙂 I'd guess finals, too.
  23. Not to pee on Gemma's parade and congrats to her, but, upon admittedly quick reflection, she's the only player who comes to mind who has played as an out and out forward for the whole ten seasons of the comp. Others have retired, given her a few seasons head start, missed a significant number of games with injury, or been moved into the midfield. How long ago would Garner or Hore have kicked the ton if they'd remained as full time forwards?
