Is it loading or heavy training? I don’t know, I don’t know what they’re doing during the week so may be really punishing themselves to build for finals but I haven’t seen any indication of that on the socials. The only definitive answer will come if we come out of it and start running on top of the ground come finals. What I will say is I had a lot of theories last year, loading, maybe we weren’t playing our best 22, or had a different forward line plan that we were keeping under wraps for the finals or we’re just cruising to stay fresh for finals and when the whips were cracking we’d come good. Final round we [censored] the lions and I started to think “hello, here we go!”, then we play 2 finals looking like we were absolutely cooked and the season was done - turns out I’d been huffing copium. Is that the case this year? Maybe not but I’m not going all in on hope until I see us play in a final and play well

Not sure about Kingy’s solution of Trac forward though - kicking more points isn’t gonna help. They’re spot on with the rest though. “They play too slow, too wide. Yep, we would have to have the most congested forward line in the comp. Crowded, no movement and when our small forwards get it they’ve got no room to do anything. Gawn/Grundy are just clogging it up, get them back out onto the wing so the opposition has to kick it to them or around them to get out and make some space for the forwards.

JVR back in for Frittata for mine. Does good things at ground level Smith but he’s not a 2nd forward, let him play as a mobile high forward. Let JVR and Brown play as the talls, keep the ruckmen out of the way unless they’re actually capable of taking an overhead mark (which Grundy never is and Gawn isn’t at the moment), they’re just getting in the way now.

Fair enough we’re dominating but you’ve also got to win on the scoreboard. We’re playing a team that’s 15th, if we’re going anywhere this year this should be an easy win in any conditions but we’re going to scrape over the line if we get there at all.

We’ll make the 8, and should (should!) still make top 4. Our biggest blessing is that no one else is any good either. Pies and Port are clear top 2 but we’ve beaten the Pies, got close to Port and would probably beat them at the G if we put 4 quarters together. We’ve got the list to win this flag, I just don’t think we will as we can’t get our mids to kick it anywhere near our forwards and can’t get our forwards to lead and/or get out of each others’ way

Hopefully Clarry is back next week from whatever the frig is going on there, Trac got tagged out of it tonight (mostly against the rules but the yellow cats didn’t mind). He struggles as the number 1 mid, needs Clarry back to get it out to him. Forward line issues continue, coach seems to be waiting for the magic of the 2021 GF to reappear spontaneously rather than actually trying to develop a method of scoring.
