  1. You joking mate? Most vocal Melbourne crowd that I have experienced this season
  2. Might be going out on bit of a limb here. I’m a ‘loading’ believer, but I reckon we freshened up a little for this game. I hope we resume loading up for the next few games and taper from around end of July. May end up chewing my nails to the quick and see us lose a game or two. I am happy to see workmanlike performances for the next month or so No point peaking right now and showing the opposition how good we really can be when we get going. That is for later on in the season- my wish being that when we begin the tapering process we smash sides like Collingwood and Carlton leading into the finals. Having said all that, what I saw tonight was definitely shades of what we did last year, and wasn’t it great.
  3. Agree, no change for next week. As an aside I heard Neal Bullen say on ABC radio after the game that Viney’s speech to the players prior to the game and at half time was inspirational. Just like Gawney in last year’s GF told the coaches to keep Jacko on the ground in the centre bounces in the 3rd quarter I wouldn’t put it past him to let Viney speak to the playing group come this GF when we are playing whoever if he thinks it will help the crew.

(Sorry, should have posted this on the ‘loading’ thread- I have now copy pasted it across)
  5. Great to see the hunted become the hunters. GO DEES!!’
  6. Have faith, we are in a loading phase….I hope🤞
  7. In my younger days I used to go through Cranny to do a bit surfing down at the Island and think, what a [censored] hole, who the hell would want to live there. Years later, that is where I live! When I went down to the shops I used to say to my wife, look at all the ferals, they must all barrack for Collingwood. My wife put me nicely back in my place saying ‘you look no different to them’!🫣 That took the wind out of my sails.
  8. Hope Big Max doesn’t have a quiet month, otherwise I can just imagine how some will start a thread saying he should consider retiring!
  9. Regarding your attitude about not giving the Filth any of your hard earned money- honourable. Presume you are not a member (because we can get in to this game as a ‘replacement game’ or whatever the terminology is). Something you might want to consider. MFC had a $65 Demon Spirit Membership offer for the remaining home games including the Queens birthday clash. That way you can get to see the Filth lose to us and bring you great joy. If not financially in a position to consider this option, apologies in advance, I’m sure you’ll be barracking hard in front of a telly somewhere. GO DEES
  10. What a week! The players appear to be galvanising, so should we as supporters, I’m going to back them by turning up this Monday. Let’s not forget who we are up against, it is our (or at the very least my) arch enemies. Don’t care if we have injuries, suspensions or are loading- I want Collingwood but in particular their feral supporters and that little frosby flopping, free kick seeking piece of peroxided excrement, Ginnivan to suffer a humiliating defeat (whether it be by one point or 10 goals I don’t care), just so long as it cuts to the bone. You can’t experience this type of pleasure by watching it on TV or Kayo, you got to be there! GO DEES!!
  11. Tomorrow’s headline in the Feral Hun- Attempted Murder!
  12. More like a toothless dog without a bone!
  13. I sort of don’t. I feel that it was somehow most appropriate that Max being the captain of the playing group fronted the media. And what a job he did! Sort of syncs with the players meeting they held at a golf club a year or so ago where they addressed players ‘banter’ impacting on their value systems and just recently in a podcast he took part in. ( I know I’m not articulating this very well). I reckon it is in fact great that Goody did not have to front the press on this matter thus far. I am sure if we lose on the weekend (or even win) the matter will be raised with Goody in the after match press conference. I feel the MFC is blessed having both Max and Goody! GO DEES
  14. What has become of me? I went out of my way to source the Feral Hun to read the reports about the texts and the punch up. I wish I didn’t now. It really is a crap paper that sensationalises stories such as these. It gets worse. I then note that there is a story saying that the AFL should apologise to Essendrug, and sympathetic stories about the frosby flopping free kick seeking twerp Ginnivan. Loading or not loading, I hope the Dees are spurred on the beat the Ferals this weekend. I keep saying, for those of us who can, turn up on Monday. Do it for Daniher, do it for the Dees. Right now, they need all the support they can get from us. And make some bloody noise!
  15. And so should all our fans. Rock up to the G this Monday and support our team. They did it for us last year, let’s back them in right now - when they really need us.
  16. ….and make sure that he stretches his hammies real well before he gets on the field!
  17. With everything that is happening right now I cannot stress how important it is for all of us who can, to get to the G next Monday to show support for our team. They need it and deserve it.
  18. I was deep down hoping that Binman was going to be wrong when he said we would most likely lose to the ferals because of loading, but wow, looking more and more likely now. Still of course going to go to the game and hope like hell that we can pull it off. This disaster along with the crap being written in the Feral Hun can only incentivise the playing group. I have a lot of faith in our team culture, which I know sounds a bit ironic right now. Fingers crossed.
  19. The problem as I see it is the lack of noise and passion coming from our mob. Particularly sobering when we are ‘out noised’ by interstate supporters. And I know we lost both those games and the follow up comments that we had nothing to cheer for etc, but that doesn’t cut it with me. Pretty much the same outcome for most of the other games we played this year thus far. I guess if you support Melbourne our crowds are different- sadly it is what it is.
  20. If BBB is to stay in I would expect / hope that if he does not feel he can get a pack mark he should not go for it, rather bring it to the ground so our smalls can get a good look at it. (Selfless footy , team first). This makes his fellow players appreciate that he is value adding to the team effort. I recall he did this for a while last year prior to him gaining confidence and then grabbing / snagging a few himself.
  21. I’m with you. I’m amazed how my moral compass gets put in my back pocket when it comes to who we recruit Funny how BBB’s world record run up for kicking for goals now doesn’t phase me one bit. I reckon if Walker came across I could easily handle it. I reckon I could even handle Toby Greene! Ginnivan? Nah, you have to draw the line somewhere.
  22. I’m over I the half forward flank near the AFL members, the 2A Tridents I think. Sorry about the long drawn out whinge. I just ponder, how many other clubs would have the situation where supporters sometimes feel that it is inappropriate to be too vocal or passionate when barracking for your footy team? My guess is none, we are the exception. Continue to be loud and proud, our players I am sure would appreciate it.
  23. Mate, I am so with you that it is not funny. I used to have a general membership and could sit where I liked in the public areas. I tended to gravitate to the lower seats in top tier of Northern Stand next to the MCC members. It wasn’t too bad, sitting around fellow demon supporters who would tend to get into the spirit of the game. It was good fun and ironically it wasn’t the opposition supporters that annoyed me. It was the negative whining moaning groaning of some fellow demon supporters- it was really painful and embarrassing at times. I not so long ago upped my membership to get a reserved seat in section 2A of the Shane Warne Stand and it is noticeably more reserved and I too feel that I am being judged at times. My strategy is to slowly get louder and louder and hope others come on board and start letting go and enjoy themselves. Believe it or not it is very, very slowly working but all good things take time. The sad thing is when I went to the footy with a couple of mates who follow St Kilda we stood at the back of the terrace and had a ball. Good people from both teams being boisterous and having fun. I can almost hear some people say ‘why don’t you go back there and stay’ But no, I’m on a mission and that is to bring the spirit of the ‘great unwashed’ and infect other more conservative parts of the G. Hang in there bro, if they don’t like it, they can move!
  24. The problem is not with our cheer squad. The problem is our supporter base culture. A positive summation is that we are polite and quiet. A less positive assessment would be that we are quite boring and lack passion. Frankly, I’m jealous of sides that have loud passionate supporters, which is pretty much most other sides in the comp. I was at the GF in WA and it was obviously a ring in crowd but it was loud, real loud and it was exciting. I loved it. Simple as that. I so much looked forward to seeing and hearing our real supporters in the rematch at the start of the year and to honest it was almost disappointing in comparison. Similar crowd numbers ( and even allowing for stadium acoustics) it really lacked atmosphere. Bottom line was that people that didn’t even barrack for Melbourne showed more passion last year (that was in both the Footscray game and the Geelong game prior). I guess that as a collective that is who we are. Very, very quiet. I really feel for our players at times. We have so much of a middle class conservative boredom embedded in us that it is embarrassing at times. We lack passion. (apologies to the middle class out there who are loud snd proud and the exceptions to the rule Melbourne supporters that show passion). I dreamed for over 50 years that we would win a flag. Tick. I also dreamed that with success the long suffering supporters would come out of their shells. Fail. I can almost feel that given a choice the polite clapping brigade would like things to stay as they always have been, for people like me to disappear. Well it would be impolite of me to say you should consider changing your ways so I won’t. You have got it pretty good at the moment. I keep dreaming of course. I hope we have further success on the ground and that attracts a new breed of supporters to the MFC. To me success in the stands will be defined as when the polite brigade would rather watch footy on Kayo because they find our new breed supporters over the top loud and proud. Chances of this happening? Pretty low but I keep on dreaming.
  25. I am soooo hoping that you are right about ‘loading’. I was even accepting that there was a real chance that we could drop next week’s game against the ferals. The aim of the game is of course September. But I just saw the ferals get over the line against Hawthorn and my most love to hate player in the comp is now Ginnivan (he even surpasses Weidman from Footscray playing for frees and that is no easy feat). So noooooooo, we have to beat them come what may.
