  1. What I have seen, especially comparing to 2021 and considering the 2022 instruction, is not what is intended nor coached but Goodwin and co have been unable to recapture any sought of coherent decision making such as we saw in 2021.
  2. A new coach should demand he make better decisions with the ball, yes. When the others in your midfield is Gawn, Viney, and Oliver - what do you think CP5 would do? Blast away like the rest of the group. And, again, I will harp on this for a decade - in 2022 the FD instructed the team to kick long and to the pocket to restrict the ability for the opposition to transition and to give ourselves entirely to the ‘territory protection’ racket that Goodwin loved so much. That broke the brains of the team as they immediately fell from top 6 in efficiency in 2021. Outside the top 10 never to recover. Push a gameplan that encourages better decision making and leans on those with better skills, and discourages the worst excesses of those that are slow in retraining. That is my hope for Petracca and the next coach. In fact, it is my expectation.
  3. Most of the negative actions from CP5 were an understandable reaction to poor management by the club in the aftermath of his life threatening injury sustained while wearing red and blue. You simply cannot say the same for Oliver. And then we coddled him. And it didn’t go unnoticed apparently by the playing group. Oliver has less value than CP5 for all these reasons and his wage. I would not trade someone just because we would get slightly more value. CP5 has a definite future in the game. I don’t think you can say that for Oliver; he has no secondary position, his commitment is questionable, and he has to be ultra fit to play a role in the midfield as he has seemingly lost his speed from the contest. So I can definitely see a new coach coming in and seeing what an ‘Oliver-less’ midfield with CP5 complimented with speed and skill can do.
  4. Genuinely excited to see watch these Demons.
  5. Why is that? Why should have the contracted head of the footy dept be the first to go? I can take my answer as a post or a series of grunts and hollers if preferred.
  6. So was Goodwin
  7. Axing implies he is not coaching out the season… Or did we just tell him we won’t renew the contract?
  8. No he isn’t. We broke his kicking in 2022 when we told the mids to kick long and to the pocket to protect from being transitioned against when the team was struggling with injuries. It broke a number of our mids and they never really recovered their desire to engage higher decision making required in today’s game. CP5 can regain that better judgement and be back as one of the top 5 players in the game. I just hope it’s at the Demons.
  9. Jefferson
  10. He has always been our best tall fwd since Ben Brown’s knees ended his career. And it’s about his body being right and having good instincts and wanting to be in the right spots and knowing you can compete and play a role. For those that think it’s amorphous ‘confidence’ you are kidding yourself in a forlorn attempt to hope that JVR, Jefferson, and Fullerton can make it. I don’t think they have the talent and the forward craft. I would persist with Petty forward and what I would do with the other three are best left to other ‘list management’ or ‘trading’ threads.
  11. So he is slow to come and possibly quick to leave? The word shambles is coming to mind. Honestly, if you’re Buckley - you want to come to this keystone cops of a situation?
  12. Green needs to step down as agreed. This is ridiculous. Good governance meant we found a President that was capable, and willing to take over the role. Green is an ‘interim’ (I don’t give a flying what he thinks he is) President and should leave as agreed. We should have a new coach that is entirely hired through the process of the leadership that is to be in place long term. That is good governance. This is a shemozzle. I don’t care if Brad Green bleeds red, blue, or pellets of Pure Unfiltered Jakovich ‘91 - he is not the desired long term or medium term leader of the club. I am not going to touch on the CEO issue but that is simmering dumpster fire… check on that in a month or whenever he deigns us with his presence.
  13. That’s wilderness not ‘mini- rebuild’
  14. Still confounds me we can have a non-MFC thread on this board but we can’t have one on the Melbourne Demons team that is once again consistently showing up for the club and the fans.
  15. This should be on the main board. What a team this has been to watch. So hard at it for so long. Purcell is a machine and she in unfairly compared to Tyla who is a cleaner, more efficient machine… Love Heath and McNamara for their dare and run. Ebert looked good I thought down back with Lampard and Chaplin. And hope Tayla is ok - I have a soft spot for selfless CHF who demand the ball in the right spots and put a knee through that spot. Just love having her there. You’d walk taller with her there.
  16. Can you two keep it civil
  17. rpfc replied to Demonstone's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thats not it at all… AI slop
  18. Ok, that’s having a narrative and ‘finding data’ to back it up. But whatever
  19. Oh boy… So we are just assuming this is muckraking? What if we are leaking against each other? What if an interim president is making/leaning on decisions that they shouldn’t? Why should I give the benefit of the doubt? That’s not rhetorical.
  20. So you agree that some sort of ‘process’ should occur? I don’t really know what to tell you - good governance is good governance - you may not run the ‘proven’ (whatever that entails) coaches through the cog and psyche tests but you have some form of structure so that you give yourselves the best opportunity to find the person your organisation can get behind. And a big part of that is the effing process for how you hired the bloke!
  21. It’s a fair critique though isn’t it? You don’t have much of a process if there is a preordained pick as some on here believe (or perhaps know). Personally, I have always liked Coach Buckley but guess what I would prefer to do?
  22. The Collingwood Misses Finals Door is still ajar! We lose to Haw and we beat the Pies and a few other results go the right way (nothing huge really) and the Pies will be ‘schrodingers finalists’ waiting for GCS to beat ESS in the empty round before finals and kick them out.
  23. Still can’t win even under Buckley #timetomoveon
  24. Absolute shambles. Then I am losing faith in the board. Coaches are not players - they are the de facto leader of the club especially in a period where we have no CEO and an interim President. Just fire him in April. As soon as you start tapping up someone - pull the trigger and deal with the consequences of your actions.
