  1. Ashcroft is the standout this year and then there are a whole bunch that are even keel. Giving up pick 13, Feo's FF and our FF for pick 2 would be ludicrous for that ^ reason as well as the fact that next year's top 10 are considered stronger.
  2. No [censored]. That's why it's great being an unbiased supporter. You can laugh at Melb supporters kicking up a stink about how little we got back at the same time as laughing at Freo supporters who can't believe they gave that much up for him! It's hilarious.
  3. Grundy will come, it'll be 27 and a swap of picks I imagine if Collingwood don't accept 27. But that trade is easy and in the peripheral. There are so many possibilities for us to move up, it's ridiculous. You've just gotta trust that we've got a plan and there are still a couple of players who may go in Weed and Thomo which will bring in further picks for swapping etc. Every year we seem to be able to hit our target of moving up the draft and on the back of our reputation of being easy to deal with, I can't see how we're not going to be able to do that given we've agreed to the Jackson trade and there are still two days left.
  4. Dees get deals done. We're a pleasure for oppo clubs to work with and have built a great reputation on the back of that. Freo have no idea how to play the game and watch them not meet expectations next year and for us to land a top 12 draft pick from them.
  5. [censored] people need to relax. Nobody has any idea what the final analysis will look like so what is the point of complaining about specific draft picks. We got our haul and watch what happens either at the end of Wednesday night or next year if we decide to keep a our future first rounder, (which I think we will). If we manage to use 13, 27 and some other selections to move into the top 6 or 7 this year and then have two first rounders for next year to play with at a stronger draft, you can't not be excited about what that will look like. As so many calm heads have already stated, we have no idea what the ramifications would be if we'd dug our heels in any longer. We've got it done clearly so we can concentrate on the myriad of opportunities that now lie ahead for this draft. How about we wait until Wednesday night to reassess eh?
  6. Hunter would be a nice addition, compliments our midfield group nicely. Doesn't have the speed although he's an elite endurance runner but has great composure and use by hand and foot which is the main thing IMO. Hits great kicks that open up play and his release handballs are fantastic. Could be a solid opposite wing to Langdon.
  7. Recruiters and draft experts like Cal Twomey have been following these kids long enough to be able to tell if one crop is stronger than another, especially in the first round or so. Are you living under a rock? To say that next year's group are considered to be stronger gives insight into the amount of top players that are playing high level footy at an underage level. It's the opposite of speculation. Experts forming their view based on evidence in the form of thousands of hours of vision.
  8. Disagree entirely. Next year's top 10 are much more highly rated and the top 5 especially. Aside from Ashcroft this year, there are no clear standouts. One example, happy to provide more!
  9. People don't realise the significance of a contending side potentially having two first rounders (one being ours already) and two second rounders in what is considered to be a super draft.. Plus, pick 13 for this year. I no longer care about the immediate gains from losing Jackson. The club would be licking its lips at the prospect of what we could do at the draft next year. I don't think supporters know how strong it is. Jackson is potential atm. Not a known quantity, we were never going to receive what many thought we would. It's all about next year's draft haul imo if the deal that is being spoken about comes to fruition.
  10. Luke's done nothing but the right thing by the club, (for a player who wants to go home). And you've got no idea about what went down last year re Cerra or about Luke's circumstances. Whinging about Luke in the way you do is borderline childish.
  11. Which will be fine with me. Means we have two first rounders going into next year and an almost guaranteed start of second round pick to play with at the 2023 draft which is meant to be a ripper. Perhaps our plan is an all out assault at top end picks for next year's draft which I'd be fine with given the talent available. I'd do anything to be in with a shot at Zane Duursma next year. If we can land Grundy, Lachie Hunter and pick 13 for this year and we go into next year having two first rounders and an almost guaranteed pick 19/20 (pre slide) we'd be laughing. We're still in contention next year and then we have a really powerful hand going into next year's bumper draft.
  12. I can't believe people are still worried about the PSD. It's astonishing.
  13. What you got for us? I didn't hear a peep about us being liked to Gunston!
  14. Well you're about to look silllllly. First rounder was never going to happen. It made no sense.
  15. Weren't you in disbelief about supporters thinking a second-rounder is what the trade should be?
  16. My god. Whitfield would be a dream in our side. Opposite wing to Langdon or give him a half-back Nick Daicos role. Probably way out of our thinking/cap but if we landed him and Grundy this year plus hit the draft with a top 8 pick we'd be laughing. And I'd be laughing. All the way to the 2023 flag.
  17. Gotta keep evolving, Harmes might love the club but he is a fairly vanilla player most of the time. And if this helps balance our list and gives us the opportunity to bring someone in that none of us can see then I'm all for it. We need a shake up, keep our core and continue to develop and evolve around them.
  18. West Coast will pounce to facilitate a trade* Why would a club black list itself for no reason? Not only would we never deal with them again, they'd then carry a reputation that every club would be aware of when dealing with them. So it's absolutely in their best interests to make a fair trade with us if Freo don't come to the party. My assumption is that Jackson has told us that Freo is where he wants to go but if they can't get a fair deal done for the club, he'd be willing to go to West Coast. This is based on the fact that he hasn't come out publicly to nominate. He is being fair to us as we were the ones who drafted him, developed him and ultimately invested in him.
  19. They said they'd be open to splitting pick 2 so you're completely wrong. Not only that, there is zero bad blood between Jackson and club and I'd be absolutely astonished if Jackson rejected a move to West Coast if Freo couldn't make the deal work. The amount of posters who believe the PSD is a risk is funny really. It would take an incredibly rare turn of events for it to go down that path from here. West Coast's interest puts pressure on Freo to get it done. We'll be fine either way.
  20. Go and look at his draft profile and his strengths and weaknesses and the reason he went as high as he did. He has smarts in spades, he just needs a defined role. If ANB can play half forward, Jordan and Brayshaw on a wing then I'm sure a previous number 3 draft pick can learn to play a position. I'd have him in our midfield rotation as is anyway. He can compete with Sparrow and Harmes for that spot over summer. More competition for spots and lifts the standards of those he'd be competing with.
  21. I would entertain Dow without a doubt. Remember that Carlton's weakness for a while was big bodied midfielders which in part pushed Dow out. (as well as the fact that he was inconsistent in his form). But I really think they didn't utilise his strengths and he's been a bit lost as a player. I can genuinely see a spot for him in our side as a compliment to our bull-at-a-gate midfield. He's got a burst of speed, great side-step and is composed when he feels comfortable at the level. And that's where I think we can come in. Celebrate his strengths, give him a role that really bring those strengths to our side and he'd flourish. He'd also come on the cheap and for a former top 3 draft pick and a new environment is exactly what he needs.
  22. Some supporters would be better off supporting the individual that plays rather than the club they play for. Tough business being an AFL club. And if we're being brutally honest, we were prepared to give him an offer based on his output to date which has been inconsistent at best. All the best at West Coast, let's add to this list now.
