Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
Lindsay and Dovaston for me , possibly Cumming

Farewell Christian Petracca
Can someone explain to me why it seems Carlton and Essendon will get multiple 1st rounders plus players for Curnow and Merrett respectively Yet they are saying we will get 2 1st rounders no players and have to give GC later pics back just to keep them happy ? Isn't agreeing to trade petracca enough ? All players want to leave their clubs , all 3 are contracted , all are stars , why are we seemingly going to get less ? hopefully the Humphrey miracle happens !

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
So Out : Petracca , Oliver , May , Mcvee In : Miochek ? Heath ? Looks like a rebuild to me at this stage !

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
If we go into 2026 with no Petracca , May, Mcvee and now potentially Oliver we will have to rebuild even if we say we aren't And if we can't bring in any significant players from other clubs. Then a full rebuild is clearly on the cards ( Heath , derkson are borderline VFL and Miochek might help the forward line but only has one or two good years left With a [censored] draft and maybe only getting draft picks for any players we trade out. I think we are in big trouble for next year. It will be a real battle to rebuild too with Tassie coming in A lot relying on the development of Windsor , Langford , Lindsay , Turner , Tholstrup , JVR , Bowey ( some good signs here though already with this group Kozzie might be the only out and out star on our list next year. We have a lot of quality going out it seems and stuff all quality coming in at this stage. Kings first year could be really tough !

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Pick 7 would only be the approx the 12th best player in the draft due to FA compensation for Oscar Allen and northern academies bids
-
Trade Targets
That would completely go against everything King said in his press conference about wanting to make finals. The messaging to the fans would have to change

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Then why would Butters want to come to us over the Bulldogs , Geelong , Hawthorn , Collingwood etc , particularly if we are a bottom four side ? Very hard to attract superstars with just bay loads of Money , don't want to end up like North have for years throwing loads of Money at stars and everyone turned them down for ages

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
What's the point of getting rid of his salary . If we can't attract anyone of significant note to come to the club , we need to to improve next year not go backwards. really getting worried about Kings first year if we are down Petracca , May and Mcvee with very little established talent coming in the door ! Will be very upset with even this and next years first rounders form the crows ! Weak and compromised draft will mean accepting two picks in the 20's for a top 3 player at our club ( that's ridiculous and reckless if that's all we get even if we get rid of all his salary ) hopefully he wants to go to the Goldcoast much more likely to get a better deal

Trade Targets
Obviously a bit of water to go under the bridge yet , but again we are not linked to bring in anyone significant ( maybe Flanders but seems that may be heading another way) If we get next to nothing for May only get mediocre picks for Mcvee and only Draft picks for Trac also ( if we trade him) and can't bring any other established talent from other clubs I think our list would have gone backwards from this season. Miohcek might be handy for a year or two but he is not a long term solution in the forward line. Heath and Derkson might be fringe best 22 players maybe more but no certainty. King says he wants to make finals, or at least be competing for finals. If all we get this trade period is some solid tall depth and an ageing decent player in Mioheck I'm really concerned about our list next year. Even if we get some decent picks, it a very compromised and apparently weaker draft. King would want to improve the list I would have thought and unless there is a major surprise coming out of this trade period I don't think we are improving our list for next year. Apparently we are not rebuilding but if we are not replacing at least 3 best 22 players that we are losing somehow ( Miohcek might be one ) then we are in trouble next year I believe. We may be able to set our selves up for the next few years with some decent draft picks but just doesn't seem like we are going to be bringing in any significant best 22 players again this trade period. if we are to compete again then this needs to change quickly. The premiers will be getting Oscar Allen and Sam Draper!! I hope there is a suprise or two coming !

Farewell Judd McVee
Their Pick 29 will be mid in the 40s after academy players and free agency compo .in a week draft feel light on even with him being uncontracted. Would love to get pick 11 which will be more like 20 anyway otherwise Cooper Simpson who trained with the Dees a few years back might be worth asking for ?

CASEY: Semi Final vs Frankston
Just saw him on Fox Footy so nope

CASEY: Semi Final vs Frankston
Is Nathan Buckley in attendance ?

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Exactly how I feel about it too ! It could bite us hard if we trade him for not much and he does look like he getting back to his best

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
If the clubs decides we can challenge again in the next year or two with a fresh voice then we have to go an experienced coach like Longmire, Buckley or Simpson. But if we decide to rebuild and start afresh trading multiple experienced players like Richmond did last year then we really should go for a younger highly rated assist t coach eg skipwoth , Enright , Montgomery type

Where is Fritta Going?
Getting a late first rounder or early second rounder for Fritsch is not that appealing. It would get pushed back with academy bids and free agency compensation. Also it supposedly a weaker draft this year. So I don’t see how trading Fritsch makes us better next year. So unless we concede as a club we are rebuilding and just keen to bring it more young players or we have established goal kicking talent that we think we can attract through a trade, it doesn’t make sense too me. Even after a poor year he is still on track to kick 30 plus goals ! hard to replace those players. Will be interesting what moves we make during the post season

NON-MFC: Round 15
Jefferson and Windsor I think
-
NON-MFC: Round 15
Why is it that we are not identifying these types at the drafts ! low cost key forwards but are already having an impact as goal scoring threats even Treacy was pick in the 40s or 50s for Freo , may have even been a rookie pick ?
-
NON-MFC: Round 15
How is it that Essendon pick up a kid in the mid season draft Archer May, who arguably has already shown more than of our Key forwards this season in 2 games ! Can we not identify key forward talent. Can we not develop key forwards. Or do our kicking skills inside 50, decision making and possibly the game plan mean our key forwards are hamstrung and can’t impact like other clubs seem to ?

PODCAST: Rd 10 vs Brisbane
Fantastic win, really didn’t see it coming. Obviously Melksham has been really integral with his own form but as a leader of the forward line, I am curious what the panel thinks our best forward mix is with regards to the rest of the season, ie what is the balance between key forwards and small /medium forwards . Or is it just a horses for courses decision with having flexible swing men like Turner and Petty play forward or back depending on the game/game situation ?
-
PREGAME: Rd 10 vs Brisbane
Indicates the quality of our key forward stocks and that the coaches don’t think there is one good enough to name to start on the field ! Our forward line is a real sad state of affairs
-
Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
It was pretty weak draft and seems like we just wanted to take a key forward and took the best one available. Josh Weddle would have been handy. I feel we have missed big on key position players in the draft. I know Windsor has been fantastic but I hope we don’t rue not taking Nate Caddy or Conor Sullivan in 2023
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
Today could be a day that really hits home that we should have drafted the two Victorian boys Hayden Young and Serong instead of two players that have wanted to go back home Pickett and Jackson in 2019 Freo mostly likely end up with all 4 which sucks really !
-
POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
So depressing that we will most likely be bottom 4 and we won’t even have our natural 1st round draft pick. Least Lindsay and Langford look good. But our method is broken and our talent forward of the ball is not good enough
-
Trade Targets
Not a trade target , but why we didn’t select Logan Morris in the draft a couple of years back when we are screaming out for key forwards that can mark and kick goals, I have no idea !!
