  1. I guess a few posters owe @Grand New Flag an apology
  2. Bloke has been gone for months. Distracted the whole season by it. Get the best deal for him and don't get screwed over.
  3. it's funny that i made mention of the thunderclap sticks and suddenly that's become the basis for the whole thread. There is more to it than 'trinkets', but I guess i'll leave it there. The are many ways to create extra hype for games and drag a few new supporters in, maybe some neutrals too. We were given prime time on many Fridays and Saturdays, but did nothing with them. There was barely any atmosphere at all. People will say it should be organic, but many of our marquee slots were against interstate teams. As such, the atmosphere was dull. To whoever mentioned the Demon Spirit merch range, that's AFL arranged not club.
  4. Do you think the club did enough to improve game day experience? We played a lot of night matches. They all felt very run of the mill to me. you can scoff if you wish, but I’d challenge you to answer the question, if you are a regular attendee of course. As I said in the opening post, some will hate the idea of anything novelty at AFL games, strong in their belief that atmosphere should be organic. However, this is about game day/match day experiences, and I thought we didn’t really nail it this year. In fact, it was as if the marketing team took the year off
  5. So blame the fans, rather than find a solution. here’s what you receive at other sports to help lift the noise . Sponsored. Marketing 101
  6. Where the bloody hell were you this year? Our first finals series since winning the grand final and the club didn’t come up with anything special. Every finals game just get like another home and away game. In the past, I can remember numerous promotions run by the club in finals. In 2018, they gave out Zurich supporter flags. Years before, it was demons flashing horns for fans to wear. There was a missed opportunity this year, to do something unique and different. Many have talked about the lack of atmosphere from fans at games. Here’s an idea, get some of those inflatable clapping sticks like the do in US sports. Some will say “no thanks” - but I’d take it over novelty music between goals. It would have been better to manufacture participation that way. I can’t remember a day this year where the crowd were offered anything different, or a novelty experience. After running the premiership celebration so well, I thought we’d see something this year from marketing, but I reckon they botched the opportunity.
  7. If they want a salary dump he will go for 3rd round pick. Like the way we got Ben Brown. That is if they genuinely want him off their books.
  8. Collingwood crowd have gone pretty quiet.
  9. My god Bowey can tackle for a little fella
  10. Bedford has that burst speed that the senior side lacks. He breaks lines. Creative
  11. I see it has already been asked, but his young Woey out with concussion
  12. Understand your anger, but what is the point of this post? We won the flag last year and broke the drought. Every club studied our game plan. We became the hunted. We finished in 2nd place. Yep, we were out of form second half of the year and we bowed out of finals in a disappointing manner. We still had some good wins along the way. It just wasn’t to be this year. It’s a failure for me too, but I’ll take this over talking about draft picks in July anyway. We must reset and get some players in to fill some gaps. We also need to see some more of the players in the 2s given opportunities. Too many players were rewarded with games when out of form
  13. Don’t use tht phrase. Annoys me no end. What on earth makes winning the premiership last year any different, other.than the disappointment of diehard fans not being able to attend? Finals played in front of crowds. Full length games. I really hate this notion that last year was some sort of undeserved premiership.
  14. I’m too [censored] off to sleep. The only cold comfort I take is that in both both finals were were in it until the end. Yes, we could have won both and were in dominant positions in both, but did not execute well enough. The nucleus of this team is very strong, but we need to improve the fringe.
  15. I’ve been a big fan of Hunt, but his time is up. He lacks the required skill to be anywhere near an elite AFL footballer
  16. Bowey over Salem. Bloke doesn’t miss a target and attacks the ball
  17. It has a beautiful new surface. Just underwent resurfacing. Perfect size. In MFC heartland. Again, no parking. Council that probably wouldn't cooperate. Toorak Park was a better option, but we went away from the idea in pursuit of somewhere in the MCG precinct
  18. Whilst that is true, there is a lot of land behind the oval, daisy. It would be easy to expand the surface. There is green space on all sides. However, you cannot tear down the pavilion, as it is subject to heritage overlay. You’d need to do a deal with the tennis or bowls club. The actual location is perfect, given it is in the middle of Edinburgh Gardens. However, I just can’t see the council agreeing to it. In saying that, if it was to become the home of women’s football, you may get more support. That would be the sell. There are a lot of female community teams in that area. I grew up in North Fitzroy and love the idea of it being there, but can never see it happening, despite it being the last inner city location that ticks almost every box. I also believe that being there would help the club attract a new generation of supporters. We are a boutique club who could build a boutique supporter base of hipster supporters who may not have football teams.
  19. A half-baked McDonald on a wet MCG in a final would be an absolute selection blunder. How can we still be arguing about this. His turning circle would be akin to the titanic, he would struggle to clunk marks and fumble below his knees. Just move on. We missed the opportunity to debut JVR, so we sticks we got
  20. Been mooted by myself and others in the past, apparently Yarra Council would hate it and it has massive community use at the moment that the lefties in the area wouldn’t relinquish to a professional football club. (Nothing against lefties btw)
  21. Not sure where you get your forecast from. Bureau of Meteorology has it down as: Partly cloudy. High (70%) chance of showers, most likely in the afternoon and evening. The chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening. Winds northerly 20 to 30 km/h decreasing to 15 to 20 km/h in the late afternoon then becoming light in the late evening.
  22. The weather shouldn’t be a deciding factor on whether ppl go. I think the club has been lazy in promoting the games this year in general. Just expecting people to show up. It’s a late time slot too, which is a reason for some no shows. I would like to see the club out there encouraging fans to get onboard. The social media posts are just generic, put together by the AFL
  23. I’d be disappointed if we didn’t get 60k there this week
