I think Clayton is our best player and arguably our most important. I think at the rate he's going at he could end up Melbourne's best midfielder ever.
However, I'd be concerned if we go for a contract of more than 4 years. Think of GWS that have long terms deals with what at the time were some of the best mids in the game - Coniglio, Kelly etc - doesn't look so great right now.
I bet Clayton would like to keep his options open when hes around 28 and has taken over the league, so 4 years sounds about right for both sides.-

Can't you remember, P2J? Big Simon played in the same era as our own Robbie Flower, who you assured us in another thread that you had seen play. Unless you were being economical with truth, that is.
Of course, to have seen these champs running around you would have to be at least in your forties by now and I don't think you're anywhere near that old, are you?
I remember Robbie because I am a Melbourne supporter, even though I was very young then.
Young enough to not give a [censored] about any other teams or remember their players.

I have been holding myself back for a while now, but I think I am ready to elevate Gawn into a very elite group of ruckmen.
Best I have seen in order:
- Gary Dempsey
- Simon Madden
- Peter Moore
- Dean Cox
I am fairly happy to move Max Gawn into no.5 in this group. Watching him is pure pleasure. His tap work is as good as Dempsey, his field running as good as Cox, his kicking is now as relaible as Moore. I doubt his marking will get to the heights of Madden, but he is a very, very good mark. Absolute gun is our Max and I also need to eat humble pie about his captaincy; I wasn't a fan of his appointment but his leadership is first class.
Do you remember how often Madden played forward? He kicked a massive amount of goals. Must have been one hell of a player.

Literally every single set shot that Fritsch has taken this year has been on a difficult to very difficult angle. Name me a player that’s going to have elite conversion with the high degree of difficult set shots that Fritta takes.
Either Fritsch needs to lead more central or our players to need use him way less as an option as his set shots are going to cost us a game soon.
Something needs to be done. Hes taken more marks inside 50 than any player in the comp and only kicked 3 goals.

are we at a point now that we can concede that Dr. was correct saying that Jackson isn't a natural forward?
I dont think I have seen a single person say LJ is a natural forward
He is learning the craft, we all know hes a natural ruckman

Dogs Eagles has been a carbon copy of our game last night. Dogs dominating possession yet kicking poorly for goal to only have a small halftime lead.

Why?
Because we need a tall forward and he can kick straight.

Just now, whatwhat say what said:
the relentless negativity deserves it every time
Has the option to forego the father/son process and go into the draft. That is not negative it is realistic.

Just looked at our run home.. horrendous to say the least
Doesnt look too bad. Its only horrendous if we allow it to be with our form.
Remember in 2018 the last two games were against the Eagles in Perth and GWS in the last game, and we won both. We were dreading them when the fixture came out.
We have Adelaide at the MCG in the second last game this season.

Did you see the dynamic change when LJ was put into the ruck? Hes polar opposite to Max and we bamboozled the Saints.

GWS playing in Perth today.... 31 degrees and sunny.
Hope the poor blighters aren't too exhausted next week for our match up.

And will need to impact games consistently
Yes he needs to do that.
Chocco said he reminds him of a young Tredrea. If anyone else said that it could be laughed off or scoffed at, but we are learning pretty fast that when Chocco says something he means it.

That's the question, if T.Mac maintains his form does Weideman get a game? No for mine.
Weid will be coming straight back in as soon as hes ready.

I see we have avoided playing at the Giants home stadium and that this game is at Manuka in Canberra.
Pretty sure our record at Manuka is not so good but we played most games there when we were a basket case.

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs GWS
in Melbourne Demons

If you had taken that last week you would want to strangle Trac and his 0.3 in front of goals.
