Meanwhile, the Age reports that about 5000 of the 11,500 eligible Collingwood members voted at their election which decided their next president after more than a year of upheaval. They boast they have an actual membership of more than 80,000 and yet, such a low number are able to vote and a much lower number actually bother to do so.

You gotta be able to read to vote.

    Couldn't help myself....

Hmm, there's only one way to ascertain who the real "Leah" is.

What did you (Leah) order for dinner? And what did your friend order?

Not the salmon mousse, I hope. It might have been canned...

This puts us back up with the Big Clubs, just shows what can be done when surrounded by hard working brilliant people.

Not having a go at you... Just picking up on something that I hope is a little amusing:

Yeah, we were surrounded by hard wokring and brilliant people. Then, eventually, we opened the doors and let some of them in.

This was my hope however WC starts 20 July 2023 in 19 months time. That’s probably barely enough time to build it if they started now but there will be a long process that has to be gone through before they can even start. First all stakeholders have to agree to it. This obviously hasn’t happened yet. Then it has to go through a whole planning process starting with Public consultation because it is public land. Before then going through the planning approval. All of that would normally take a year or more. Unfortunately can’t see it happening in time for WC.

Perty mentioned in an interview recently that he'd seen the designs, so maybe it's all already gone through, just we have to allow the WWC to have their moment before the next stage is announced....

This would kill the whole area. No sunlight, cold wind tunnels, and it looks hideous. It effectively Blocks the MCG out of view.
I certainly hope this gets thrown in the bin very Quickly

And I bet they'll be almost all 1 and 2 beds. Try finding an apartment for a family with 3-beds and places for the kids to hide.....

I personally think the "empty land" is the best location for the home base.

It is the closest spot to the soon to be redeveloped Gosch's oval and it faces a main road which is excellent for marketing. All we need is a small footbridge over the exit ramp to connect the oval from the empty land.

The issue with Car Park F is that it doesn't face a road and is still a couple hundred metres from the oval. In saying that however, Car Park F still much better than Car Park E

Thinking of the empty land, just imagine driving up Punt Road from the south....

I'm high on the hill looking over the bridge,
    To the MCG.
And way up on high, across from the silo
Is the home of the Dees.

    I remember
    I remember

    I'm dreaming today,
    Of Steven May
    All the burning dreams.
    I'm not hearing a sound,
My feet don't even touch the ground

    etc....

  8. I've been thinking that there's plenty of upside to Ben Brown. Last season he came in not-so fit, cemented his spot late and played his role extremely well though without all that many goals of his own to show for it. Next year he'll have had another pre-season in the program to build the fitness and synergy with teammates, and with confidence riding high (surely...) plus other dangerous forwards to demand the opposition's attention (including Gawn and Jackson here along with TMac, Fritta and Weid), i have a feeling we are on for a genuinely dominant year.

Nutshell: Overconfidence??? Dunno, I reckon the forward line has plenty of room to mature.

My romantic view is that it was in the humidity of Cairns that the curse was actually lifted. Something happened in this environment, as far removed spiritually from footy at the G as you could be, that broke the curse. From those two games in four days we won the next twelve straight, and ultimately went 23-4-1. Something happened in Cairns, in my view.

Agree. I think it was the nadir. The listless efforts in an environment that smothers you when you're down maybe taught some blokes that AFL is so f*!#$n hard that if you aren't giving everything you've got all the time through prep and performance, you're going nowhere. After that, it was get serious or get lost.....

  10. Thanks fellas for a top-notch podcast. Might have told you before, but in case I haven't, my mum is now an avid listener - counts you among her friends. She hasn't come out and said it, but I sense that she 'appreciates the tone' of the conversation...

Bringing a lot of people pleasure in difficult times. Cheers.

  11. Up til this season, I doubted his commitment. I perceived him as someone trying to get by without the will to sacrifice to achieve team goals. No more. The podcast and his performances this season convinced me that he is a champ. Not that it needed nailing by that point, but his mark and goal in the Grannie drove it home.

    Full respect for Gus.

Must be in for a big payday. Property in Melbourne is a complete joke at the moment. Can't buy a toilet for less than half a million.

    Great news though!

Thinking of moving back myself. Renting seems wiser at the moment.....

It was actually Gary Lyon who told me this during an on air call to SEN

Hmmm....there's some interesting connections there. Dogga lives with the Brayshaw's. The Brayshaw's are from WA. Gus B holds hands with Danny Frawley's daughter. Danny and Garry Lyon are related, if I'm not mistaken... etc
