Jeez, I hate Collingwood. Though there are many reasons why, one is paramount: they show all the spirit that our club doesn't. Yeah, I hate them cause I'm envious.
We have to come together as a club and demand that our players play with guts week in week out, or go somewhere else.

From the outside the pain appeared to go unacknowledged. Surely some kind of something - name on the banner, speech.....something....

Since the joys of Adelaide and the big win against the Cats we have lacked intensity. If not that exactly, then we have lacked intensity relative to our opponents who have come at us like bulls at the proverbial. Have we been complacent?

A simple medal is fine. It's what it signifies, not how much it cost. Save the money for something worthwhile....

I love North a tiny smidgeon less that I love the D's and sometimes more. Went to Arden St and stood in the outer to see the Krakouer boyz play. Unfortunately, Jim was out for some reason but Phil turned it on. So, such are my credentials – apart for the fact that I saw them play Hawks at marvel a few weeks back (bloody awful) and that Clarko went to school with my bro who played U19's and 2's for the D's in the late 80's. They were the junior stars...
Any case, teams have come and gone from the VFL/AFL. Anybody miss University? Swans ain't South. Lions ain't Fitzroy. It's a gut-wrenching thought, but for the good of the comp, I wouldn't mind if Nth and the Saints were relegated to the VFL. Not put out of business, just in a different business, one that maybe they could do well in. This is a National Comp and the dollars are big, but they can't compete in it. Nth have been vastly more successful that D's over the past 60 years, but what do they have to show for their 4 premierships? Still no fans.... One thing in favor of th D's survival is that the fans are actually there.... and if so many weren't also MCC members who get virtually no benefit from joining the club, we'd have more members than we do now.
Yeah, it isn't about onfield success. It's about the ability to sustain a club in a national competition. And it's about the quality of that competition. Too many teams dilutes the product. Teams that can't sustain themselves are a drag on the whole.
Eh... I'm off to cry into my breaky....

I wonder if the people against our proposed move to Caulfield are the same ones that just stopped a bike path connection being built adjacent to the racetrack and are now fighting with each other because it's been diverted down a residential street instead.
Lol, I'm sure they are. Let them bleed.... The NIMBY Wars.

Without wanting to count eggs late or hatch chickens early one has to think our change in gameplan makes Kozzy and Chin far more dangerous now we aren't continually cutting the ball off on the wings and banging it back into a packed F50
This may be a good topic to raise in the Game Plans, Tactics and all that Jazz thread...

The long long grass of home.
Melbourne to Adelaide - 725.8kms
Wuddina to Adelaide - 567kms
158.8kms the difference. No real practical difference as that's long trip either way... Would he feel more 'at home' in any case? See attached pic of the long long grass of Wuddina. Adelaide is just as different as Melbourne in that regard.

Dunno about all this. Lots of other SA people at MFC atmo, including Goodie, one of their greatest, Swallow, Chin, ANB and others (???).... The only reason I would go if I was Petty would be the cash, and surely there's enough of that where he is right now, plus a decent list and all the cheeseboards he can wolf, as well as snow access. Dunno, with his next contract at MFC he could probably afford a Range Rover and really live the dream.....
Seriously, though, what is the reason to leave?

Just out of curiosity, anyone know who David S. supports in footy? 🤔
Being a politician, it changes depending on the majority within company at any given moment. If you watch him closely as he enters a room, he does quick calculations based on the appearance of the folks therein. If they have teeth, it's not Collingwood. If they're stoned, West Coast. If they've got their snouts in the buffet, the Cats. Etc...

I live in Caulfield South and the local member [no censorship, please] has been calling for comment, claiming that the move of the MFC to Caulfield would reduce green space in the area and shut the community out by putting the land in the hands of private clubs. Us locals need more green space, apparently, than Glenhuntly Park, EE Gunn Reserve, Packer Park, Princes Park, Caulfield Park and Lord Reserve/Koornang park, with Elsternwick Park, Duncan McKinnon Reserve and Yalukit William Nature Reserve plus a few others not much further away. I let David know - as he seemed not to realize - that the facilities the MFC would use would bring more of the community in than the few dog walkers, joggers and snake hunters using it presently by providing more of the very green sporting and leisure facilities he seems to think we lack.
Next time I might let him know that I didn't vote for him because there was a candidate on the ticket who had luscious long red locks, for which I am a sucker. In other words, he needs to do something positive to get my vote, and being another NIMBY ain't going to get him over the line against a smiling redhead.
Note: Had no idea of her politics. Just dug her hair.

After the disbelief and the anger and the visualizations of revenge on Maynard, I want to say cheers to Gus for all the guts and effort. Wish him all the best.

t20 has grown cricket's $$ value exponentially
the biggest stars in the game are still the three format players who excel at test level, not the franchise mercenaries
They've tried to turn cricket into a sensationalist game. The same is happening to golf and tennis too.... They're not. Lipstick on a pig.
Once found myself at a rugby tournament in a sports facility in Dubai. Looked up and there was the ICC, another dusty steel and glass box exponentially decaying in the brutal climate.
Sad.

How about everyone else?
Not big on it cause the kids can't go. I'm one of those old fashioned roll out of bed on a Saturday and wonder what are we going to do today, how 'bout the footy? type of blokes. Can live with the staggered start times over multiple days, but 7:55PM starts mean a late night, so on a Thursday we're out. Keep footy a family thing, I reckon...
