  1. dog, bone, carry on, as normal. by the way, is that a threat your issuing.?
  2. actually, wasn't sunray back then, it was just Ray Watson.
  3. Hah, it was about the attacks on Goody. I'm with you.
  4. Player K H D M HO T FF FA G B SC Rat Patrick Cripps 11 10 21 5 0 2 2 3 1 2 8 77 Clayton Oliver 12 16 28 5 0 5 1 1 0 0 0 101 To me, that's more a draw between them. Cripps swung the game, & almost won it for the Blues.
  5. They are not necessarily who we would have picked. Or we may have traded one.?
  6. I think that is why he did it. I reckon Roo wants to ensure the crows finish below the Blues and the Dees.
  7. He wasn't the spear head before, just an forward addendum. twas dead eye dirk
  8. One more head knock, and who knows, 'D3'.?
  9. As did tWallet, before Hardwick. Recruited many mature aged. I think its best to have a blend of new elite talents and mature bodies and footy heads.
  10. I agree Sku. And the club stuffed the recruiting worse than normal, and the development as well, because they rushed the kids. And chose non-combative types. I think PJ, and Roosy new we would not go for a 3rd rebuild, even tho we were still in rebuild mode, but he wanted a season to see what we had, and where we were in players attitudes, and supporters resilience. Who are asking for another rebuild.? When we are still building, haven't stopped since Roosy came over. I guess "the ReBuilds" ended, when Roosy left us. And the building work continues. Just as we are still today, and all the competition are doing.
  11. I think I'd prefer Smith to go up to spoil, out of Smith and Lever. I'd prefer Lever to gather the spoils, and have the ball in his hands and his mind, to choose and deliver it. Dare I say it, but Smith would be stronger than Lever. And with Levers knee, I prefer him jump less.
  12. This is a juggling act: to maintain enough wins to keep supporters happy, and senior players engaged in the process of developing and building the list whilst still busting a gut. Here is the list of players, the current 28Yr olds + senior leaders > nJones... 32Yrs4Mts Hibbo... 30Yrs5Mts nJetta... 30Yrs4Mts mBrown... 29Yrs9Mts jMelksham... 28Yrs9Mts mGawn... 28Yrs5Mts sMay... 28Yrs5Mts aVanDenBert... 28Yrs3Mts tMac... 27Yrs8Mts Here is a fair chunk, (pardon pun) of our club leadership. Last year was a truly lost year, Re development, and this year as well, has all but disappeared; so anyone with a longer-term view, can see we need to get on with it, bringing more players thru, before all these boys are retired, or on the slippery dip. This year we have to bring more fresh faces into the team; especially if clubs have to reduce list numbers. .
  13. Finally someone who has caught on. I've been banging on about this for the past couple of years, since when Maxy was already a 26Yrs old.
  14. Other than the Ruckman, we have 3 Midfielders available inside. IF we are to continue to develop our mid-field to become one of the best, which it isn't yet. Then we need to be able to have our players play direct against their opponents. Not tagging them, but to be on them, when we don't have the footy. The young midfielders have to run 2 ways. Offensively; and defensively, in support of our team. What they have been doing over the past 3 years, is not good enough. Disposal stats are Not enough, and a waste if they do not hit our targets. And worse if the ball rebounds out and they hit their targets. Our big name mids are letting the team down being lazy. They just have to run harder, or we should find others who will. No more canine-tails, wagging our Dog. That is our old failed, Demon brand.
  15. Or fully understanding it, or what is going on. This is where leadership is crucial. And why/what Lewis was doing playing with us.
  16. I think he's meaning traditionally. We are normally a team that relies on running the ball, rather than kicking to contest and long kick again. And that's right, we do really, more over the decades; run carry handball to loose player. The Richmonds, Essendons, have been the kick long and high mark sides. And look what they've done with that dna over the past 50 years. Bring in the flood, and all of a sudden the old run and carry in space is dead. Kill the flood and we will be back in business.
  17. Yes.. exactly we as support group like to think of ourselves as the hero on white horse, do-gooders, and we sit back really easily, to feel our own inner warmth, having just donated some money to some less fortunate. Instead of getting up of backsides, and getting out there and doing something about the real issues out on the streets/environment. To really help the battling people or animals etc. It takes effort, to even think of the other side of the coin, of what we do. OR, what we do not do. The players alike. Its THE culture of the Melbourne footy club, in both supporter base and in players. We learn it, hand me down from one another. And its also in the lyrics of our song to a strong degree. The values of loyalty, put ahead of values of winning, giving and sharing, striving, fighting; inclusiveness. We all do a little, then sit-back, pat ourselves on our proverbial back, and feel satisfied with ourselves. It's as infectious as CoVid. This IS what continually upsets the culture after we've just changed it, for winning ways. WE are reaping the rewards for what we've done, or haven't done and the hard decisions and disciplines we have to do from time to time. Which coach in the World can do anything with this. It has to start with us. Stopping giving big back slaps, for buggger al.
  18. Now your gettin it. And i'm starting to find different ways of trying to describe it, what i noticed. How to put it. Its like a addicted person... when they are rehabbing yet again, It's when they start to feel better, is most likely when they want to go and celebrate again. This is why I posted something similar in the Bennel thread for Harley. And why little things like the Demonland banner, are really, big issues. Particularly for young players who haven't, or have barely fired a shot in anger. When we pump them up too soon, sometimes we deflate their learning ability and development.
  19. thats the similar thing, of getting ahead in mindset, IMO. we start to believe the media saying how good we are. Winning Melbourne likes to stop and look at the reflection in the glass. To see what everyone in media is talking about. We do like to admire ourselves, after having got into the winning mood.
  20. Don''t we want Clarrie to become an accountable Midfielder. Tell me how that will happen, while someone else is wiping his bum for him.? Same with Brayshaw. And Petracca... they all have to have an opponent, and cover them off defensively. Otherwise they are not playing team footy.
  21. I think the last year will get payed out.
