Just Heard on Perth Radio Bulldogs and West Coast Desperate for our early picks if we could lure Aaron Naughton and Liam Ryan imagine them with Pickett and Mc Adam boy some powerful forward line
How desperate are West Coast?
Was an inference that Hawks were into Naughton on Whately from a listener and a separate inference that Dees were confident of landing a big fish FF.
Some chat (listener speculation) that Spargo was interested in either Roos or Hawks.
We could have picks and cap space galore.

I never really hear too much about the draft but I have heard we'd really love to take Zane Duursma.
Though it looks likely he'll be taken before our first pick unless we can slide up.
Outside of Reid, he’s the other player I would spend chips to move up for. What Duursma does well translates directly to where we are deficient forward of centre.

If this is true, I bet the afl just give them pick 3 anyway
Both clubs have an interest in the compensation being less than first round. They could end up missing the player they’re after inside the top 10, especially with the award of pick 11 giving the Roos a big crack at pick 4.
Will some of the money offered be tied up in triggers, and if so, will that impact compensation? There may be a benefit to the two clubs left vying for his signature having a vested interest in that end of the draft.

Melbourne couldha had Kelly...
Roos opted for Dom Tyson and Salem instead
We move on
That we didn’t have Bont on the radar at that pick (and likely would have selected Billings had we held the pick) are the bits that rankle.
That said, Salo was excellent in our premiership year and should have been AA. Has not reached those heights since (injury seems to have played havoc with his form), but was crucial for us on GF day.

Charlie Edwards had another good game in preliminary final. Looks like he’d fit into the Dees midfield like a glove. He might be the Demonlanders one to watch in this years draft.
Yep, looking forward to watching Edwards on Sunday!

Edwards had been a half back in a pretty stacked Dragons outfit. Moved to midfield in 2nd half of the season and is coming home like a freight train. Will be watching closely on Sunday, he’s a bolter.

@Pennant St Dee here’s the replay of Eastern’s prelim win over Tasmania:
Prospects of interest are Watson & Windsor at Eastern, For Tasmania McKercher made his comeback from injury, Leake, Schoenmaker & Callinan also have draftable qualities. Leake in particular has gained momentum over the season.

Grand final date and time confirmed. U18 Boys final will be curtain raiser to the VFL GF at Ikon Park (11:15 start).
Free entry if you arrive before half time (will have to pay for VFL GF ticket if you get there after h/t).

Will he be capable of rolling through the midfield at AFL level?
Here’s a highlight package of Watson playing mainly through midfield (spent time everywhere in this game), gives a pretty good snapshot of his overall game.

All goals get reviewed, if ARC thinks clear mistake, they will overturn decision. Don’t see many overturned this way, but replay at the ground looked like it was touched.

Do you have any link to watch a replay
Not yet @Pennant St Dee, but will be up on YouTube in a couple of days. Will keep an eye out & post here when it’s up.

Can he take an overhead mark? I think our side already has too many small players in outside roles.
He’s got a good vertical leap (athletically outstanding) and strong hands overhead, so yes, but you’re not bringing him in to be a marking target.
Highly competitive and terrific goal sense.
On another area of the ground, thought Ollie Murphy was excellent in key defence for Sandringham in the other prelim. Would have him behind O’Sullivan, but not far behind.

I think so. Won’t be full time in there, but his burst speed out of stoppage and spatial awareness in close is very good. He and Kozzie breaking into space would be a major headache for opp defenses.

Nick Watson lighting up the early stages of the CTL prelim. Eastern 3 goals up on Tas rn.

Right there on board the big, big train now.
Would pick up the phone to see if Jesse wants to come home. OOC next year.

Vale Ronald Dale Barassi. Lucky to have met Ron (and Robbie 😢) at a family day years ago. Generous with his time and showed genuine care and interest for every supporter there. Part of the fabric of our club, so glad he got to see us win one in ‘21.
This week can seriously go to hell. So much damned heartbreak.

We might be pick 13 by the end of the night. Let's get that Deathriding Port Adelaide thread up and going!
The Roos own that pick, are you forecasting a trade with North?

I'm back up in Q50 with the family and other Dee mates. Got through on my phone after around 15 mins, finalised transaction whilst my MacBook kept whirring away.
For some reason I keep having more luck with Ticketek on the mobile.

Young Kynan added another 2 goals to go along with 20 touches and at least 1 goal assist in a narrow loss.

Nick Watson's Eastern Ranges have just won through to a prelim after knocking over Kynan Brown (& Noah Yze's) Oakleigh in a bit of a thriller.
The Wizard gets at least another week to further his draft stock. Brown had some good moments and well worth a spot as F/S selection.

Sounds like a sensible decision.
I know he's been injured but only 50 AFL games at 28/29. Was he a late recruit?
Think he was 23 when Adelaide added him to the list in the McGovern deal. Sounds like he didn’t seriously invest in footy until he decided to move from Halls Creek. Is a cousin of Bedford. Wonder if Toby gave us a good reference?

Seen some articles indicating Duursma at Port is gettable for the right price. Would be a great addition and we may be able to work something out with Grundy in play. Kind of player we sorely need.
We could do worse than bring in a pair of Duursma’s at the end of the trade & draft period.

Trade Rumours 2023
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
I like Charlie, and probably prefer to keep. Hawks have a 2nd rounder which will get swallowed up in matching a bid for McCabe. Spargo’s going rate is roughly a 2nd rd pick, Kanga’s have nothing in that space as it stands.
